i wanna agree but what kind of surprise are you talking? 100-125k first week would be surprising and shocking to alot of people if u ask me.
Im thinking 50-80k are reasonable expectations.

I mean if Ace Hood can do 30k, Im sure Cole can clear that easy

.
30K?

yeah cole is doing more than that for sure.
I'm thinking he's going to do at least 100K.

didn't you say Sean would do 200???

This is all good from a fan's point of view but it's selfish. Fans should want their fav artists to sell well (which includes them purchasing their albums as well) because if they don't it'll be even harder for that artist to release their next album and if it does drop it'll have even more of a commercial influence forced by the label so that they make their money back. Then the artist eventually gets dropped or worse shelved and is regulated to dropping mixtapes indefinitely.

I know Cole cares about selling and I know he's hoping his fans do too. That whole I'll support him when he's on tour don't always fly.

Most likely he'll sell around 150K, especially if he drops the Can't Get Enough and Lost Ones/Lights Please video before the album
Son has a larger fanbase then some of y'all might think. A wide range of people mess with dude's music. Especially females.

i feel u.. im just saying.. the game's messed up. and i feel like, you have to decide very early what you want to do as far as music, and what you can do as far as music. Cole ain't no superstar. He's not a hitmaker. His whole hitmaking strategy is getting another star on the record. Cole gon' have a career because he has loyal fanbase that loves his other music. They'll make it possible for him to profit off other avenues such as touring and merchandise.

B.o.B. had no buzz sold, 87K

Big Sean own buzz isnt bigger than Cole's but he sold 87K

Tyler the Creator buzz got him 50K, n 3/4 of black twitter never heard of him to MTV awards last week.

White kids buying yo album is not equal buzz.

Lil Wayne bout to pull a mill on Carter 4 and sum would say he aint have no buzz for his album

B.o.B is LOVED by the white community. He had 2 big singles and white girls love him. He went gold. And he is doing an all Asian tour, he is doing just fine in his niche

Big Sean got zero support from Kanye (Ye showed more love to Yonkers than any Big Sean track post "Get'cha some") and zero marketing. My Last is a big single but most ppl believe it's a Chris Brown cut. Although I was surprised he didn't do better, year is not over though.

Tyler the Creator put out his album too fast in order to capitalize on his buzz. He had a strong internet buzz but he seriously should have waited and built up anticipation more. Heard about dude and his crew in March, son put out an album May. Not enough time.

Lil Wayne doesn't need buzz at this point

White kids buying your album when you have buzz helps quite a bit. J. Cole has no successful single, and Any Given Sundays have no buzz. What will help him though is his affiliation with Jay. Jay is going to make sure his album is shipped and stocked in all markets instead of submarined like Wale's

-The Juice

I hear what u saying but I dont equate that to Buzz, especially in the case of the 3 acts I mentioned.
I mean in hip-hop, i dont feel like those ppl are checked for, discussed, anticipated, stanned, hated like Cole...thats on and off the internet. They are in fact in the spotlight more than Cole but i dunno if i wud sayn "buzzin" but ayy maybe im wrong.

Like gucci mane and flocka have buzz, but their sales wont reflect that. Big Sean sales and single performance will reflect buzz but thats really off the strength of his songs being featured by Chris Brown and Kanye and their contributions being the draw to the records.

I agree with you on the Jay thing. n yes having the white crowd checkin for you will definitely improve ur sales but Cole doesn't appeal to that overall audience
I agree with what @OrenthalJames is sayin'. Has been 0-2 with his singles. he jus' needs to put out a hard/lyrical track and see where it takes him.

I don't really see how "In The Morning" didn't take off on the charts. It sounded good, and didn't sound like the generic "aim for the radio and women" track, like "Work Out"
The song does sound better in concert than in headphones, but as soon as Horse Shoe Gang did a freestyle over that beat, I don't think I've listened to Cole & Drake's version
since.

It was never a ACTUAL single, it had a cheap little video n everything, but it was never technically a single.  Cole even said in a interview he tried to get the label to push it as a single, but they wasnt with it...idiots.

He did, it was called 'Who Dat'... one of his hardest songs he's released IMO and we all saw how that turned out.

^^^Ahhh, gotcha. That sucks, I think that could've been a legit single. I figured it must've just been a promo thing since I only recently saw that video.

I gave in finally after weeks and listened to Cant Get Enough...ONLY because he released it officially on itunes, plus i think i deserve a reward for holding back on ALL of the confirmed album leaks (Cheer up, Lost ones, etc.)...
and after listening...

reminds me of cruisin through San Diego with my friends, the perfect SD song right there.

Perfect for any tropical/beach area with women.

Great song...and i dont say that for all of his songs, i didnt support Work Out too much.

I hope it blows, but if it doesnt im still gonna love it.

Oh yeah he did! Wow, how quickly I forgot about that

Maybe Cole jus' isn't appealing enough

I'm coppin' it on the 27th though.

Missed out on tickets for J.Cole's concerts in SF on 9/23 smh, and resellers are asking 150 a ticket, %*!% that. at least i saw him the last time he came :/ hopefully they go down

Damn God's Gift sounds like its gone be fire He's stopping by my college to perform for our homecoming on the 29th two days after his album drops and I cant wait.

The fact that he didn't save "Farewell" and "Before I'm Gone" for the album is mind-boggling. If those didn't make the album, how sick will the album tracks be?

September 27th (or whenever it leaks). Man thats gonna be a good day...

I will be copping a hard copy of the album regardless
