Nah, it was God's Gift. I'm kinda glad Jay wasn't on Rise and Shine, cause he would have killed that beat and Cole in the process. Instead this is all Cole. Nothing to take away the spotlight.Shame on Jay for picking Mr. Nice Watch to hop on.

EDIT: Can't even argue with those reviews. It's a great debut. Not a classic or ground-breaking album, but he met expectations.Hope he sells well, now. I'll be doing my part and buying 3 copies after work.

Man I can't even imagine narrowing it down to 3 songs.

It's like asking me for my top 3 Jigga songs... there's just TOO many.

Before I'm Gone
Farewell
Grown Simba
I Get Up
Get Away
Relaxation
The Come Up (Grammy Family)
'Til Infinity
Throw It Up

Those would be my first category of favorite Cole tracks.

2nd group:

Split You Up
Welcome
Royal Flush
Last Call
Villematic
Enchanted
Cost Me A Lot
Premeditated Murder
It Won't Be Long
Knock On Wood
Be
Playground

I'm not even including anything from the new album yet.

%%*#!@ be thinking I'm "trolling" in the other thread.

Dude is the 2nd best rapper ever, behind Jay-Z.

I know about Nas, I know about BIG. The thing with Cole is that he has the highest percentage of quality tracks EVER.

This #%%$# spits so nice on 80% of the songs he records.

Real talk, I could take that second category of my favorite Cole tracks and put it next to anybody's career catalog (except Jay, BIG, Nas), and I'll say it's better.

I'm coppin' 5 albums.

Any computer tech in here knows how to play this on windows vista? For some reason windows media player won't play it correctly since it's a cda format.

Imo easily the best debut of all the up and comers and im waiting on kendrick to solidify that. but what cole did production wise on this album sets him, apart from his peers

how the hell is there not any j cole albums at best buy in charlotte nc. after buying watch the throne through itunes, i'm sticking to buying albums in CD format. i may have to step foot in a walmart now. +*@ aslojdojweffnaoisvboaijsd

"Aye could I be a Star
Does fame in this game

have to change who u are

Or could I be the same one

who came from a far away life

Just to make it in these broadway lights

Now im shining in the broad daylight, go figure"

Salute to Cole man. Like someone else said it feels like one of your homies album release day yo. Kid came along way and never got tainted by the big lights or flipped the script. Cats on here be like he dont have no appeal or presence and I disagree. I think his appeal whether its popular or not is that he is so identifiable and not trying to be anyone. Being the same age as him, I tip my hat to him not trying to straight up mimic whatever successful rappers persona was we grew up listening to. Im really applauding Hov for giving him the platform to release a great debut album HIS way. No its not classic, its not flawless but IMO its the best collection of songs that he has released that showcases his talent. Imma continue to support dude and hope more people gravitate towards his music. When he says Hip-Hop needs balance, I totally agree with him and appreciate the music he has brought to the genre thus far to see that statement through.

And im not trying to say he didnt have any help but out of all the newcomers, I also feel this is the best album. And to say he was that hands on with the entirety of the project is a great feat. Especially when you look at his peers and their albums are filled with guest appearances and all star production.

My brother told me target and walmart already sold out around my way.

I work at bestbuy, and we only have like 9 copies left. Mind you we started with 60.

Album is flames.....

THIS.
Hats off to Jay for trusting Cole enough to let him control his own destiny. Who's the last artist that had so much control over their first album on a major?

8. Cole World - This beat got more of that same Euro *%#%$ swag that the last joint had. Its cool if #$*%!$ wanna get on some international +@%+ n show some variety or some culture b....but this beat kinda %@# yo. This sounds like some +@%+ that mutha****as in Moscow be doin Russian kicks to....like you gotta be splashin 180 proof vodka on slave +*@!%++ n rockin a bear skin coat wit the head still on it to really appreciate +@%+ like this son. Then this *%#%$ get on some Borat +@%+ durin the hook when he singin "Got a hundred fifty +*@!%++ in the club starin' at me/ How that feel? Very happy!" Yall listen to this +@%+ tho..."How that feel? VERY HAPPY". Son...thats some "no speaky inglish" type +@%+ yo. This joint starts out wit the line "it took me all day to find some inspiration"...ayo maybe you shoulda put it back where you found it son. Cos apparently you found that +@%+ in the back of a gypsy caravan or some +@%+ b. You want lame bars tho? Son be spittin darts like "See my man Nate, asked me if I gained weight/ I said nah, my pockets got fatter, that's all", "I got the type of +@%+ that make a hater say sorry" n "%@@+%, I made this in the crib, watchin' Belly/ eatin' peanut butter jelly, what the %+@% can #$*%!$ tell me?" n all kindsa dog**** bars...take ya pick yo. Its like a wackass bars smorgasbord on this +@%+ b.

9. In The Morning (ft The Kitten Whisperer) - Damn son....you kno the album aint really goin rite for a *%#%$ when you relieved to hear the Drizzy joint nahmean. Still think this beat is dope...which kinda makes sense namsayin since this joint one a the only ones that Jermaine aint produce by hisself. Word is bond yo...this *%#%$ gave all his best beats away to mutha****as like Kendrick (see HiiiPoWeR) n XV (peep Smallville) namsayin. Kinda forgot that Aubrey sounds like a rapist on this +@%+ tho nahmean. I think the *%#%$ talmbout how he use to %+@% horses when he was a kid in his verse or some +@%+ son. N even tho Young Angel droppin bars bout ridin stallions n shootin lotion outta his finger tips... this little *%#%$ Cole aka L-ton John STILL gon find a way to squeeze in the lamest bar on this +@%+ wit "no strings attached, like a cordless phone" Son...when was the last time you seen a phone that DID have a cord yo? You write this verse in 1987 g? Cmon son...its 2011 yo. Cordless phones? That %%!%# like sayin "word...I got these condoms that aint made outta lamb intestines son" or "word....I gotta TV that aint black n white at my crib namsayin" or "word....I like %$!$!$ who dont got mustaches or !!%$% yo". Went to Target this morning and they were sold out. I was kinda happy about that. Ended up at Best Buy and there was 3 copies left on the rack.

Gave it 2 listens. Its a solid album well worth the $10. He delivered with the lyrics. The beat selection is debatable. The album is a much slower pace than his mixtapes. I give it an 8 for the fact he didnt have big name producers, a crazy amount of features, and he produced this !%!$ himself(most of it).

Favorite tracks:

Intro
Dollar and a Dream 3
Can't Get Enough
pimp.gif
pimp.gif

Lights Please
Mr. Nice Watch - took a few listens to grow on me. The hook + beat breakdown + jay-z >
Cole World - I liked it better on the I'm A Boss beat better, lol

Lost Ones - Flawless.

Nobody's Perfect - glad he decided not to see this hook.
Never Told

Rise and Shine
Breakdown
Work Out

I give it an 8 even tho I wanna give it a 10. I'll wait a while before calling this a classic.

320 kbps >>>>>>>>>>>>

Daddy's Little Girl - The beat cool...in a "+*%!@ who jus learned how to use Reason" kinda way. But the hook so light in the $$$ that my mutha****in iPod started floatin round the room while I was playin this !@!# b. You can put a black coffee in front of the speakers n that !@!# gon have 5 sugars in it by the end of the song par. This !@!# softer than chinchilla bellies yo. You could pollinate your flower garden wit this !@!# b. This %#+@!! dignity tank is on E when it comes to these hooks son...but whatever yo
