Laker Haters & Kobe Haters Call To Arms! (The Haters Unification Thread)

Kobe stans setting the ground rules in a Kobe Hate thread. That's gold.

I hate lasagna. It's not a FACT. It's an OPINION.

Aside from being in the wrong thread, using someone's team's record in the Finals as a way to discredit them is idiotic. First of all, It places an incentive on losing in earlier rounds. Like Jordan's legacy would somehow be worse if he was able to get his team past Detroit in '88 or '89 or '90 but lose in the Finals instead, and have a record of 6-2 or 6-3 instead of an unblemished 6-0. Or somehow it would've been better if LeBron DIDN'T go off against Detroit in '07 or shut down Rose in '11. That's aside from the fact that basketball is a team sport anyway, it's not golf or tennis, but that's something you've never been able to grasp.

But I realize you're Mamba MVP and trolls gonna troll, which is why you can't post in the NBA thread this season.

It's too bad we didn't get to enjoy your "Curry is meh" caliber brillant insight this year.

Acccccttuuaaaaly, 'I hate lasagne' is a fact, if you hate it.

'Lasagne is terrible' is an opinion.

Just saying.

It's not his team's record though. Miami doesn't have the 2-4 mark, he does. It's a fact.

Just as his disappearing act against Dallas, Boston in 2010, most missed shots ever in a Finals last year are all facts. It's all part of the narrative just as Kobe's 2004 or 6-24 in Game 7 are a part of his. The Logo, Elgin, Chuck, etc all the other greats get docked for lack of success in the finals, but Lebron can't, nah not going to fly.

And when the man himself says he'd rather lose early or not make the playoffs than lose in the finals you're argument is null. He knows that he keeps piling up these Finals Ls what's going to happen to his legacy.

Every game I've seen has been 5 on 5. I missed when they changed it to a 1 on 1 format.

Troll game is real mediocre. I expected better.

Yes, it's a fact that the TEAMS Lebron have been on have gone 2-4 in the Finals.

LEBRON is not 2-4 in the Finals, because LEBRON has never faced one NBA team in the Finals.

Lebron's TEAMS have made it the Finals 6 times, but it has never been LEBRON vs. ________ for the NBA Finals.

Same reason I've never once knocked Kobe for being 5-2. I have plenty of Kobe criticism, but those 2 Finals losses are unfair to put on JUST him. Obviously, being one of the guys hailed for victories means it's fair to also INCLUDE him in the criticism of those 2 losses, but I've never said HEEEEE lost us those Finals. Just him. "Other people won the 5, but he lost those 2." I've never said nothing like that.

Wait, I'm talking about a team concept to someone who idolizes Kobe Bean Bryant.

I know better than that. Got me messed up.

Y'all really in here arguing semantics, ain't nobody got time for that. Like I've always said one set of rules for judging Bron, another set for everyone else. Bunch of ol he's really only 2-2 types.

No, you're just mixing judgments between people.

Common mistake.

If someone says, "Jordan: 6-0" and ANOTHER person says, "Lebby's wack. 2-4," it would be ignorant for someone to say "Different standards, huh, folks?"

No, it's just mixing judgments between people.

I love Kobe, maybe the most entertaining player to me.

But some of y'all love to reference Lebrons 2 rings like that ain't that same amount Kobe has as the true alpha of his team. Some of y'all love those free rings Kobe got with Shaq.

I seen that earlier and was like....?

The "ringz" "Finals record" is just stuck, like QB wins, or Jeter's a "winner" etc, all narratives to more easily explain players careers. Not the be all end all, but a semi simpler way to describe a players career.

Like the whole world understands Horry was a key cog and 7-7, but no one ever, ever tried to claim him belonging with MJ, Kareem, etc.

Just have to have logical sports fans that grasp and understand the distinctions. Gets muddy sometimes but anyone that truly loves and cares about the sports they watch should be able to separate things evenly when discussing topics like that.

For as poor as ESPN and their rankings are, putting 2 ring LeBron at #3 over Magic, Bird, Russell, Kobe, Duncan etc shows they seperayed team from individual on that level at least. Right, wrong, whatever, but they at least tried.

Same as any sane person not listing Horry in any top 10.

Cause Kobe's old news . There's not as much real passion for hating him anymore right now given that he's parading around like a washed up Rockstar on a farewell tour right now .

It's really not.

At 21, game 7, LOSING, Kobe goes for 25-11-7-4. Without Kobe, that "free ring" goes to who?

Or of course, game 4 of that Finals.

Or in 01 the back to back 45-48 on the road vs the Kings/Spurs. When Shaq called him the best player in the world. "Free rings"

Or 02, when they started struggling vs Sac after Kobe got food poisoned.

Clearly Shaq (who had never won before Kobe became a starter and was swept multiple times thru his career) became a "winner" right? :nerd:

But hey. Bron was the "Alpha" after joining Wade's team, with Bosh, right?

Seems to be some picking and choosing of who gets credit when, no? After we just got told to ignore 2-4 cuz it's a "team" thing, until we try to decide who was the Alpha when.
