If you put any All-NBA caliber wing with how dominant Shaq was at that point and they are getting "free" rings too.

Some Kobe Stans will say they were equal etc etc but then ask where's Kobe's NBA MVPs, NBA Finals MVPs, Higher win shares, Higher PER than Shaq etc etc and they'll always have some lame excuses.


"Shaq played weak centers in the NBA Finals"

"Remember that one time when Shaq fouled out in 2nd round of a series that the Lakets were up 2-1and Kobe scored 10 points in the 4th?"

"Yeah I remember?!?"

"Kobe's clutch, he carried Shaq!"

Like what about lime other 15 wins in the playoffs.

Or they'll post a meme of Kobe's stats from game 2 of a series.

Like stop it...Kobe is great but some of y'all LOVE to overhype him.

It's really not.

At 21, game 7, LOSING, Kobe goes for 25-11-7-4. Without Kobe, that "free ring" goes to who?

Or of course, game 4 of that Finals.

Or in 01 the back to back 45-48 on the road vs the Kings/Spurs. When Shaq called him the best player in the world. "Free rings"

Or 02, when they started struggling vs Sac after Kobe got food poisoned.

Clearly Shaq (who had never won before Kobe became a starter and was swept multiple times thru his career) became a "winner" right?

But hey. Bron was the "Alpha" after joining Wade's team, with Bosh, right?

Seems to be some picking and choosing of who gets credit when, no? After we just got told to ignore 2-4 cuz it's a "team" thing, until we try to decide who was the Alpha when.

I wonder if he would have been able to have those performances if he were the focal point... not AAAAA focal point, but THEEEEE focal point... every night.

Because someone told me that miles as THE MAIN GUY of a team wears you down. Someone told me once that carrying a team comprised of players like Smush and Kwame is just too taxing to expect greatness night in and night out, and CERTAINLY too tough to just will a team to the playoffs after CARRYING guys like that all the time.

But now while teams are absle to straight triple team Shaq night in and night out, Kobe steps in and has monster games... and it's supposed to count the same as being the alpha?

Naaaaaaah.

No. I don't care what anyone's team record in the Finals is. Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Duncan, none of them.

If the Spurs get to the Finals and lose this year, are we gonna be saying "Oh man, Tim was 5-1 in the Finals, but now he's 5-2. Legacy went slightly downhill. 5-1 > 5-2. Would've been better if the Spurs got smoked in the first round." No, not me at least. That would be dumb as hell.

Either they are the same or 5-2 is better, making the finals that one extra year is more impressive than not making the finals

5-2 is definitely better for a team's accomplishments.

As a team, going 5-2 means the team made the Finals 7 times, whereas a team that goes 5-1 only made the Finals 6 times.

Which is why jordan(s teams) going "undefeated in the finals" is an overrated stat. What about all the years his team never made the finals

I don't even know where to see the top posters in a thread, but I'm curious for this one now that you mention it. I have my VERY SERIOUS DOUBTS that the top posters in here are people like CP or Mamba MVP or manup, VERY serious doubts.

Soooo, nix my last response. I was off when I said I doubt the top posters in here are Kobe fans; some of them are, and CP is right at the top.

HOWEVER... he doesn't have more than double the #2 guy... AAANNNDDDD... they definitely don't disrupt conversations in here. They drop a few replies, then eventually recognize where the hell they are and disappear for awhile.

I hear you, Jumpman. You make a valid point, for sure. I hope you can see my point, but I'm definitely hearing you.
