Michael Jordan and Nike, 25 year anniversary

That's cool news. Like the others said, hopefully they have somethin' nice in store for all of us and not another letdown....

I'm hoping they announce heat with official release dates.

We will see what happens..I hope for the best and nike has been putting a smile on my face lately

Im sure it will be something that is revolutionary, something 90% of us wont care about...

Just going over the subpar video that I recorded on my iPhone, the quality is horrible so I'm not going to post it. But the event was definitely amazing. Before anyone asks, no new product was unveiled. I'm sure a more thorough recap will be posted in the coming days, but here are some highlights:

  • All of Jordan Brand (~120) or so was on the stage sitting on bleachers the whole time, which I thought was a great way to represent the Brand and their accomplishments
  • Mark Parker talked about the past 25 years and Michael growing with Nike, commented on Jordan Brand reaching the $1 billion mark this past year
  • Michael came out with his mother, there were chairs up front for him, his mother, Charlie Denson, Mark Parker, Spike Lee (who came out to speak)
  • Tinker Hatfield came up and talked specifically about the Jordan XI and how Michael wanted a shiny basketball shoe that would also offer peak performance. He was wearing the Concords and had an early sketchings of the XI projected up on the screen.
  • Leroy Smith (!!!) came out and gave a hilarious speech about "motivizing" Micahel after he got cut from his varsity basketball team.
  • Spike Lee talked about Weiden+Kennedy coming to him with the Mars Blackmon campaign and becoming best friends with Mike. He was wearing the Nelly Spizikes.
  • President of Jordan Brand Keith Houlemard came out to commend them on reaching the $1 billion mark and other various business accomplishments
  • I forgot who brought it up but they talked about the 1992 Dream Team and Jordan covering up the competitor brands with the American flag
  • Mike talked about how he didn't want to sign with Nike at all and he was dead-set on signing with Adidas, who were unable to match Nike's offer.
  • Phil Knight and Mike sat and talked one on one about his commitment to the Brand, how it feels to walk around and see people wearing the Jumpman, etc.
  • Also talked about his first meeting with Nike and how Howard White showed up late. Howard talked a lot about loyalty as well and family, he was definitely my favorite speaker.
  • At the end, Mark Parker presented Jordan with a HUGE silver circular plaque that had the Jumpman on one side, and the Swoosh on the other. Engraved on the bottom was the date Jordan Brand reached the $1 billion mark.
  • Closed out with a cover of "I Believe I Can Fly"
And of course various video montages which are a staple of every Nike presentation/meeting...
No good pics unfortunately, didn't bring my camera in and my iPhone video is crappy. I'm sure there will be others chiming in soon...

if this happens, every release will be chaotic on RD and resell prices might get jacked up sky high because of the hype. There is at least 1 ogcolorway from 3-6 (the shoes that had Nike Air in a visible place on the shoe as opposed to on the insoles like Jordans 7-11) that has not been retroed withNike Air. JB would probably try to rip us off with something like this because they know a lot of the younger collecters who were too young buy the shoes withNike Air on them when they originally dropped or retroed would want these badly.
