hey nt, i was wondering what your stories were on how you got to like jordans and collect them

I am 31, so that puts me as a very lucky one who grew up through the true "Jordan Era". I had my first pair of J's in third grade, they were"Sky" Jordan I's, blue and white and I colored all over them. I had almost every Jordan through middle school and got a paper route to affordthem during that time because obviously mom and dad said they were getting too expensive. My favorites being the september blue VI's and Raptor VII's.Even being from Cleveland rooted for Jordan through middle, high school and beyond. I love being able to get the same shoes I had as a kid now.... I didn'tcollect in the early 2000's (stupid me!) I was in college and couldn't afford them. So now I have a job and am just getting back into it over the lastthree years! Didn't even realize this "game" existed then and now I am getting in full force...I love the feeling of getting those new J'sjust as much now as I did when I was a kid!

For me it's a nostalgia thing. Times were a lot better back then without all this craziness in the world.

You wouldnt be calling them "Raptors" if you grew up in the "Jordan era"

he's just going off of what a lot of the people call them here.. we know, jordans have been given these cheesy names like bred and raptoretc...
he is 31, so obviously he did... give him a break
(probably being nosy, but who cares)

for me it all started in 93' when the 9s came out thats my first and favorite jordan along with 13s ever since my first pair i really havent wore or evenliked any other shoe but jordans. When i was young i could only get a pair for school then maybe a pair for the basketball team because they're so expensivebut as soon as i got old enough to work i started trying to get them all.Lately however i have taken a step to a collector and not just a sneakerhead

I'm 28 so I was growing up during the Knicks/Bulls wars as a huge Knicks fan. I refused to buy Jordans back then, I wouldn't touch anything related toMJ.
I knew how great of a player he was and respected him (hated Pippen though) but I couldn't bring myself to buy his kicks. A Knick fan wearing Jordans? Nah, not me, I didn't care how cool or popular they were.

Funnything is I wore Pippens (despite my hatred) and Pennys in HS because I'd get them for $20.

Anyway, I actually didn't buy my first pair of Jordans until '02 after the pain had finally subsided from those heartbreaking losses.

They were Retro 9's and I honestly don't even know where they areanymore, I think I threw 'em out years ago after they were beat up.

I'm not that big into Jordans anyway, the III, IV and XI's are the only ones I really check for. I wear my kicks, don't keep anything DS.

In second grade my brought me home the white xvii and I fell in love with shoes ever since, I'd go to footlocker all the time

"I wouldn't be calling them Raptors?" Come on man? Seriously? I obviouslydidn't call them that THEN. Like I said I didn't collect for awhile and have noticed that is what they are called by alot of peopleNOW. I was born in 1978 and have seen Jordan play the Cavs MANY times including his 69 point gam when I was 11- got the tickets forChristmas and it was to the date the best gift ever! The RAPTORS were my favorite because I had them before anyone, I had the bordeaux and the toe box was falling apart and I wrote a letterto nike, they wrote back to send the shoes back. A few weeks later a package cam to me and I opened the box expecting another pair of the bordeaux's butit was a never before seen RED, BLACK, and PURPLE pair of VII's... It was unreal! This is way before internet or any threads and posts about upcomingcolorways and NOBODY had ever seen them before> let's just say I felt like a pretty bad %%! 8th grader!

I'm 25. Can't remember exactly when i became a jordan fan. I knew of him in the early 90s, but didn't really start religiously following him untilhe came back after the first retirement. I was always a payless shoes kid, but i saw the black/red XIs and fell in love. Like many, my parents wouldn't buythem for me. It wasn't until the year after that they bought me the Taxis for Christmas, to go with my new bulls starter jacket. From there I got theblack/red XIIIs, Playoff XIIIs, black/red XIVs, and Indiglos. Then after Jordan left again, i did too, and I wore Iversons for a while. It wasn't untilJordan came back again that i fell in love with his shoes all over again. I remember seeing the XVIIs and liking them, but i wasn't spending $200 because ihad no job. The next year i got a job, picked up a pair of the white/blue XVIIIs, found NT, and finally made it to see the man play. Since then i have beenwearing only Jordans, and have accumulated around 40 pairs. I only wish i would have never left.

shouldnt he have been in school at the time of that post??

Jordan, GOAT, Hall of Famer, MVP, 6 Rings, Legend, crazy crossovers, unbelievable dunks, many game winning shots, enough said.

the reason why i been wearing jordan since the black/black/red jordan ix is because of the love of the bulls and jordan now im heading to become 24 years oldand i still have the same love for jordan well number ones i love the history and personal history of jordan 1-24 (2k9) i feel that is something i will alwaysbe proud of doing in my life time

bigfatmoose you should be in shcool your prbly @ the crib blazin sayin f%$# school whats on NT... but anyway my first pair were the og white/red VIII's ibeat them into the ground from day 1 ever been wearing Jordans almost faithfully minus about 2-3 years i fell into AF1's hard but then the Mars IV dropped& brought me back to the game after i sold most of the collection & was heavy on AF1's now im back in full effect i have about 100 pairs allretro's a couple of OG's and a nice amount of recent stuff dont think i wear anything else but Jordan's until Marcus take's over who knows'how theyll look then ?????????????????????

I grew up watching MJ as well. At first I really didnt get into the whole shoe frenzy and pretty much got the jerseys, shirts, shorts instead cause they werecheaper. My first pair were the playoff VII's. After that I didnt get a pair until the concord XI's came out. I remember that because I was wearing asize 12.5 when they came out and got a 14 because they were the only pair they had left at Foot Locker. They looked funny as hell cause they were huge but theywere J's! From that point on I pretty much got at least one colorway from XII-XX, sometimes even two. Have been buying some of the retros ever since aswell!

Grew up watching the man himself and growing to love the shoes. The shoes were legendary when I was little. I would get old eastbay books and look at all thenew Jordan's that released, parents didn't have the money back then to cop me Jordan's like that. First pair was a pair of black/red XI's whenI was 10. Been hooked since then. Got older, got a nice job, and I promised myself that I would get all the shoes that I wanted when I was small. They are verynostalgic to me. The game was so much more "real" before the hype surrounding these shoes.

Well it started wen I bought a pair of fakes I didn't know so I was mad as *@#$ wen ppl told me they where not legit.... since that day I started gettingthe info on shoes and now I know better lol

My fam is the type that will do the buy one get one on the already discounted shoes that have been marked down, os I never had expensive shoes as a lil kid. Iremember not getting a pair of running shoes because they were 50 bucks in middle school lol

but in 9th grade we went to best buy on black friday and stopped by the mall afterwards. There was a store selling Black Laney 23s for 60 instead of 110. I wasamazed that a pair of Jordans was marked down and talked my mom into buying me that pair. Prob like half a year later I discovered NT, and since then its beena done deal.

Those Team Js are beat as hell now, but I still have em. Theyve been to Denmark, England, Kenya and Ethiopia, and I dont plan on ever throwing them out

My obsession with MJ started after I saw him hit the game winning shot from the freethrow line against the Cavs over Craig Ehlo. Unfortunately I wasnt ableto buy a pair of Jordans 'til I was 18 (which at the time was the blk/wht XIII's). Been hooked ever since. Oh and being best friends with Ijapino hadsomething to do with it to. LOL

dude like seriously i tried to stop collectiing jordans and matter what everytime i see the ones i want i get them. For me jordans all the second best thing tosex lmao ...jk but close enough, anyways i mean its a hobbie for me. without jordans my swagg is destroyed! Its soo crazy though i cant even wear any otherpair of sneakers without feeling weird...so i mean send all my o's to JORDANHEADS and x's to fake jordan collectors!
