so who here gets financial aid for school?

Im not talking student loans here, Im talking free government money. I have finally got all my paperwork in and Im curious what to expect. Some people havetold me what they give you is based on how much you make, but Ive heard from others you just get the national average which is around $1700. BTW I live in TXand only pulled about 18K last year after a few months of unemployments... so how much did you receive last semester?
 
I get 2k as well, and my tuition is 2.5k.

I will be receiving financial aid next year when I start college. Both of my parents are retired, with no pensions, so we do not have any income. I should bereceiving a good amount.
 
i get a LOT in grants, some loans and then i get Veterans tuition assistance and Veterans dependents benefits monthly.

grant about 4K
Stafford loan 4K
VA tuition assistance 1500-2500
and VA dependents benefits $860/mo

i also take out private loans from sallie mae to cover some of my living expenses (rent, gas, food, etc) but that varies in amount
 
I got like $19k this year.

It makes you really appreciate the money you actually do have. I cut costs on absolutely everything now. I've purchased just one pair of shoes since I wentto college. I only buy clothes when I really need them.

I go half and half with my school, i put around 4,000(loans) a year and school puts round 5gs
 
i got 2,900, but my tuition was only 1,300

but next year my yearly tuition is about 26,000

I got like 2k this year and just MAD Loans but I filed in june and didn't complete it till september because the signatures were messed up. This yearI'm getting on my grind having it done by like Feb so I can actually get loot. Smh people at my school getting money back and@%%+ and I'm broke as ajoke in debt. Tution is 26.5k just for tuitioin. ::Goes off to cry::
 
But I just got a grant for all my past balance up to this term
