Hey guys! I wrote a message to Nike and this is what I got back:

Good Morning Brandon, Thank you for taking the time out our of your day to give us feedback about the upcoming release of the Jordan VI. To let you know this shoe is not schedule to release until 2010. The pictures you see on NikeTalk.com and/or any other blog sites are prototype/samples of this shoe and the shoe isn't even in production yet. I am a Jordan fanatic myself and working for Nike I know first hand that the materials used in a Retro shoe can change up to a few months of production. I have seen the pictures that you have seen too and nothing is confirmed with this shoe. The pictures you are seeing can and most likely will undergo changes along the way of production. Also NikeTalk.com is not a Nike authorized site, while it can informative not all information posted on NikeTalk.com may be accurate. We always welcome feedback from consumers and we are listening. It is through input from consumers like yourself that we are able to improve Nike. Your comments about your disappointment in the materials of the pictures has been passed on to our Brand Jordan development and design teams for further research. We appreciate your support of Nike and hope that you continue to think of Nike as a name that represents quality

Have a great rest of your week and a safe 4th of July.

I just wanted you guys to see this. Thanks!

Before anyone starts, I know I posted this in the Black/Varsity Red 6 thread. I justwanted everyone to see this. Maybe if more of us sent them e-mails, we could get the quality of Air Jordans we want. Just a thought........

I'm surprised they actually responded to your email. I have a feeling that they'll change the suede to nubuck.

I am shocked that they would actually respond back to you.
You shouldn't have just mentioned those VI's though, you should of told them about ALL 2009 releases.

So you really don't care about the quality of Jordans we're getting?
You don't care that they changed the nubuck on the 6's to suede? Or the Infrared into Varsity red? I care about the quality of my kicks if I'mgonna spend a lot of cash on them. This is why we're getting quality like this. People are buying the kicks just to be buying them.

I told them about the bad quality of all the retro Air Jordans.

Nike's customer service reps are well trained.

The responses are formulaic; they try to establish a personal connection and make sure you feel that your feedback is valuable. Why not? It doesn't costthem anything extra.

I contacted them awhile back to inquire about the adhesives in their "considered" products and received a friendly, yet horribly unsatisfactory, reply. Basically, all I wanted to know was whether or not the adhesives in their "considered" line contained any ingredients derived from animals. Other manufacturers, like Brooks, offer high-end athletic shoes that don't contain any animal products. Long story short, Nike refused to give an answeron the grounds that this represented proprietary information. I thought that excuse was preposterous, as a simple 'yes' or 'no' hardlydiscloses anything that could compromise Nike's market position. If the shoe did NOT contain animal products it would be far more marketable, so failureto answer that question is a bit like pleading the 5th. At any rate, I wrote back to let them know that their inadequate response left me with little choicebut to purchase a competing running shoe and abstain from purchasing Nike footwear products in the future, and this was their reply:

Code:
It's great to hear from you again! I can definitely understand where you are coming from, and I respect your stance on this.

Your feedback is valuable to us, and I want to assure you that your voice has been heard on this matter. Feedback from consumers, such as yourself, is one of the many ways that Nike seeks to improve both its products and the customer service we provide. I will be happy to include your comments about your disappointment with us not being able to share the specific types of glues used in Nike footwear with our Corporate Responsibility Leadership Team for review and future consideration.

If there is anything else that I can do for you, please let me know. I am always happy to help.

These are patterned responses.

I wouldn't interpret this to mean that they've actually taken your feedback to heart. It's just sound CS rhetoric.

interesting. thanks for sharing OP. and thank you meth for shedding some additional light to the issue.

Thanks AF1 Beast, we will all thank you if they do change it back to nubuck. Hopefully we can give JB or Nike some ideas for up coming retros, and tell themwhat we don't like.

i find it very unprofessional that they use a different font color for every sentence and emoticons with negative connotations.

On a serious note, Meth is right. Customer service reps are trained to give you cookie-cutter responses and never give out opinions or pertinent information.

precisely.

try e-mailing nike about product currently available at retail chains, (i.e. total max uptempo), and many reps will have not one clue as to when a release dateis. I even came across one rep who did not know of the shoe period...even with a product code

Thanks for sharing. I feel what you are saying Meth, but it couldnt hurt for all of us to voice our concerns

Thanks for posting the letter.

Glad and quite surprised that they responded back.

Hopefully things change around here.
