What's With All The Hype...?

I haven't posted a reply for a while... but i couldn't resist this...

1st- people ARE entitled to their opinion...

2nd- objectively speaking... the history behind the shoe is reason enough.... (Jordan heads correct me if I'm wrong with the details, i DON'T want topass myself as a Jordan trivia expert or anything like that)
It was in some way a redemption shoe...
MJ wore it during the play-offs after his 1st comeback... he wore it when the ball got stolen from him by derrick Anderson....
and he wore it a year later when they beat all competition and regained the title.
It Is the benchmark for subsequent "modern" shoes to come out...
because it pioneered the use of carbon fiber, ballistic mesh, spring plates (as opposed to shank plates), extensive use of patent leather ( and not just foraesthetics.. it was a sort of stability rand for cuts and slashes)
and aesthetically... it was the break through shoe that started the "formal Aesthetic, that is now commonplace in athletic shoes... not just basketball.
it was the 1st of the four consecutive shoes his airness wore during the second 3peat.

3rd- this not as technical as the previous reasons i sighted...
The shoe just looks FREAKING AWESOME!!!!

The CG's are my favorite sneaker of all time. I love the XI because it is relatively simple but very stylish. It's not plain and boring but itdoesn't cross the line in terms of being over the top like some J's do IMO. It's the perfect mix. Plus the patent leather and off the court styleadded a lot to it.

To be honest the XI's and XX3's are the only Jordans I love past the 4's. 5-22 is a big

for me. I'd buy some of them if they were $75 or so but never for theprices they are IRL. The hype I don't understand is the VI-VIII, they are ugly to me but hey I only buy what I personally like.

3, 4, 11 and 23 for me. And the playoff XII's are dope too. Those are the only J's I'd pay more than $100 for.

Personally I think there okayyl not my favorite
I belive there's some hype justvby history and how older heads back then loved them so much

Bulls went 72-10 during the 95-96 while MJ was wearing these. All OGs(I mean 5-7 mins full size run, SOLD OUT) and Retros have been extremely limited. Besidesthose two facts I think newbies jumping into the game boost their value.

It is the a shoe with alot of FIRST, Carbon fiber, PL, and more. I prefer the 1(in CERTAIN colors) or XX3 over it but thats my imo

its not hyped...people actually like it and some are lucky enough to still have the 01 retros in great condition. I think it is honestly one of the most soughtafter shoes (any color) and most people who collect have atleast one pair. Not to mention people are going to like what they like its their opinion..

I wouldn't say the XI is overrated. The shoe is very historic in the JB history. First Jordan you could wear formally & on the court. I rather spendmore money on some VI's, but I do think the XI looks better.

I think a lot of it is hype. I mean, I like the Space Jams and the Breds... but other than that I'm not a fan of the other CWs. Hopefully the hype will diedown a little before November, otherwise I'll probably end up choking someone.

the xi is kinda hyped. but the reason for that is because a lot of people don't have a pair in their collection unless you count that cdp crap that cameout. it's in my top 3, but the vi's and iv's still top the xi's any day in my book!

It's overrated... Many collectors, who were too young enough to see Jordan play before his first retirement, started falling in love with jays as theXI's came along. But if you're like me who's into Jordan since '88, then perhaps, you're more into the earlier line.

yea i totally agree i mean i got the CDP to complete my collection but there not worth the hype i might jus cop the spacejams tho

their cw's are hot..design is raw...story behind the shoe...
its hard to say theyre overhyped..
just everyone loves them..seems like its just a realllll good shoe
