number and font name are wrong

in rookie season 8 and name should looks like that

8 has 3 smaller slants and 1 bigger inside 8 circles

it's weird with that font, because in 96/97 some lakers jerseys jackets gets that wider font other the same as above

u can see difference in horry name comparision

but not sure what gets authentic champion jerseys that season. with nike it's all clear. standard font

but 8 is still... hard to copy

I've been looking into it, and I don't think champion made kobe rookies (for retail). customized, procut, M&N, or bust.
 
Custom for sure.. even the seller states it in the auction lol.

And the gold logo patch should be a darker purple. Looks like it was taken off a jersey from another team.
 
^^ True true...  I had an autographed superstar greetings, but sold it simply due to the incorrect font. Now I kinda regret doing so.

But even those seem to be customized because only the bottom (outer color) twill layer is stitched to the jersey, whereas in retail (machine-made, mass-produced) jerseys, both layers of twill are stitched to the jersey.

that's van exel authentic

see few differences.

btw. 96/97 was last year champion made jerseys for few teams (lakers, bulls, celtics and others)

can't find even shaq shampion authentic jerseys, so maybe they didn't made them? when they know it's their last season...
 
they did make Shaqs, but the'yre way worse - the numbers look like replica numbers. someone posted one back for a legit check a few pages back I think.

problem is they were using it inconsistently for few seasons

most of early 90's gamers are with that font

other with regular

it ended in 97 when nike took champion teams

few pages back, put few photos from 96/97

shaq name was 2 differens styles, the same we see now with van exel and horry.

have no idea why it was like that, would like to know the answer

maybe dan ceniceros know something...
 
You're right. I learned something new.

Until today I thought early 90's jerseys all had regular letters like your Ceballos.

I don't think there will ever be an explanation for the letter inconsistency

check this out and compare shaq's and elden's fonts...

better quality



most of 91-97 jerseys gets that wider font

but there was excuses

That's weird....

Maybe Sand-Knit, and later on, Champion had Lakers uniforms made by 2 different local companies.

Because even the away jerseys were different color purple and didn't match the shorts a lot of the time.

(like Magic's uniform in the second photo)

During the nike days, the celtics jerseys didnt match the shorts (colorwise)

im sure you can find pix. I remember seeing a few of paul piece where they were different shades of green

nah was referring to the green, might have just been in a magazine where it was different shades. could have sworn i saw on court pix as well

they dont sell them retail for some reason. Ive randomly seen a few weeks ago brand new ones pop up on ebay for cheap but they were rather big. Id love to find some adidas/nba ones of any team as long as they were black
