Can someone explain to me Adidas jerseys? My knowledge of jerseys stops at Nike/Reebok, I stopped buying once Adidas started making them.
I guess what I'm asking if the differences and such. I hear climacool, rev30, twill, mesh.
Which ones are the "good" ones. Besides mesh because that's all you guys talk about
What years did they make one type, then moved onto another style?

Climacool is equivalent to Nike's drifit. It's a type of fabric that's supposed to keep you cool and dry.

Thanks for the explanation. So climacool are the old versions and rev30 are the new versions (climacool 2.0)?
And mesh is the flexible numbers while the twill is the thick layered version like all previous authentics from Reebok and back?
They make fake mesh twill? Seems silly.

is on point. Climacool was the original Adidas fabric and since 2010-11 Rev30 has been the standard since then. You are almost correct on the numbers as well. The older twill was, IMO, more flexible than the "fake mesh" twill Adidas has been using some some authentics. Mesh is fantastic, and if you're spending a few extra bucks for a Rev30 authentic, mesh should be used. Their fake mesh twill sucks. Super stiff and generally doesn't match the font used by teams. Notice how skinny that "6" is on the Knicks jersey above. Looks off.

When were mesh numbers introduced to the Rev30s, a bit later I presume? And I'm going to assume all the climacool jerseys are going to naturally have twill numbers then?

mesh has always been on rev 30s. Just not retail wuthentics from the nba store except for LE boxed pro cuts sold in 2010. And pre-rev 30 climacool will use twill however some rev30 climacool jerseys use mesh such as cavs opening night.

There's too much talk about modern jerseys lol. Time for an old school pickup.
Just got this in today. 1996-1997 Kevin Garnett pro cut Timberwolves jersey, size 48 + 3 inches. It also has the all star game patch sewn on! This has been on my wish list for YEARS, and I'm very happy to finally have it!

Nobody knows why they won't use mesh.
I'm curious what the actual costs is. I'm guessing around 50 cents to a dollar.

mes numbers are lightweight and for the on court jerseys. They aren't trying to get rid of the twill they have they just are being cheap and using the twill over mesh.

It really all seems hit or miss. Sometimes the type of jersey such as if it is an alternative it is produced with mesh numbers and sometimes not. Has nothing to do with being pro cut but seems a little more of a supply and demand type thing

Son that is an absolute fire pick up. I don't think I've ever seen an original vintage from the all star games of 97-2001 and it's a pro-cut? That seems it was a game issued then. Cherish that one man
Back to the numbering. I still have a hard time differentiating twill vs mesh on these rev 30 jerseys. So are mesh sewn on only once and the twill sewn on multiple layers?

these days you will only see mesh numbers on some older released rev30's, from 2010 or 2011.
its only going to be either pro cut, boxed edition, team store authentic (not from nbastore.com), or a game issued/gamer.

This seems to be the norm at this point. The 2010-11 some with, some without the NBA Hologram should have mesh numbers. Anything after that is usually twill, unless as he said, from the Team Store, Pro Cut/Team/Game Issued. I did hear though from a Heat Store employee when I was there that "popular" players such as LeBron, Kobe, or Durant usually get mesh numbers regardless of year because large numbered minimum orders are placed for them. But you can still get lame twill with them as well. Can be a crap shoot. But if you know what you're looking for and you have real pics of the jersey you can spot the mesh/twill differnces.
Mesh numbers are sewn once on the jersey, as it is one solid piece of mesh with the borders embroidered on the number fabric itself. Here is a pic of my Wade "3" on the front
And here's a pic of a twill "6" from a LeBron I bought, but since sold because it was twill. It is constructed in the same manner. All one piece only stiff twill instead of mesh, also sewn on only once, unlike the older (pre 2010) twill that was more flexible and legit 2 layers (2 separate pieces of fabric) and sewn through double.

and I know some older jersey heads will say twill is better, but I'm hoping when Nike takes over they don't go back to twill and introduce a similar tactic, maybe just make the numbers from straight dri-fit fabric, cos stiff twill is just not cool at all.

I think it all depends on the jersey fabric to be honest. The Rev30 is so thin and light, mesh just makes more sense. But if you put it on an older Dri fit or Climacool it would be out of place. Older twill, to me is flexible enough. But I agree with your point of Nike possibly doing Dri fit numbers.

This is a nice jersey, but it was definitely customized. The Timberwolves used double layered wide letters during the 1996-97 season. The single layered name font on your jersey wasn't used until the 2004-05 season. If you get the correct name font it would be perfect.

I looked at the grey flannel auction before purchasing. I'm concerned about marks being left from removing the lettering, so I'll leave it as is. It's practically impossible to find this style jersey (one year style). I've also never seen a blank or a KG of this type that wasn't a gamer from an auction house. I don't like the starter version, although it's much easier to find a pro cut of that brand.
