The End-All, Be-All Thread to Jordan Brand Complaints

I have a similar point of view. It's weird dynamic; this forum is constantly in flux between excitement and frustration and JB always seems to be at thewinning end. It's gotten pretty old though and those of us that grew up watching/looking up to MJ are jumping off board more frequently each day...it'sjust not worth it. Maybe people complain because it's sad to see a company and its subsidiary fall below the standard they set decades ago. Thedissatisfaction is only going to continue growing, so if we allow complaining at all it should be contained to one sub-thread. Oh yeah and R.I.F. (some of youshould remember that acronym lol) and to the rest of you...make sure you get my order right. No salt on the fries. Lmao jk.....kinda

Plain and simple, "don't like, don't buy it". More for ME. Stop complaining like school girls over a shoe that is released every decade.I'm happy. I will cop 3x. Thank you.

Way to up your post count. I don't understand the mindset of someone who hits reply to post something like that. The cliffnotes thing is gettingout of hand. One long paragraph and there's a need to "wrap it up, b". That's for another time and place, though. Back to OP.

I agree there are more costs going into the makings of say the Space Jam XI rather than just the materials. That's not the downfall for the quality of JB.We, the consumers, have caused this product to be 1/16th of what it used to be.

How?

This is my thought and anyone can say whatever they feel to support or oppose it. My e-feelings won't get hurt. I see the current quality of the product asa direct representation of the use. Why were Jordans made in the first place? I'll fill people in who are wondering...to be worn on the court. If Jordanplayed ball in '93 in the retro Aqua VIII's he would've dropped Nike on the spot. Those shoes were not built to hold up on the court. Theywere made for all of us "sneakerheads" to show off at the mall or, even better, to just be stocked in a cool, dry room.

So it is we that tarnished the quality of Jordans because of our choice to just wear them casually. I'm as guilty as the next person, so I'm not justblaming everyone else. Unless people continue to destroy the retros on the court and complain, be prepared to accept CDP quality shoes.

I'm done and I'm sorry no cliffnotes.

To me its not even about re-living the past really, i just would like to have the same quality and feel as the shoes that i bought in the past point blank. Andif that doesnt happen i wont buy.

your point is well-taken, but just as a consumer has the right to evaluate their purchases and voice their opinions, WE as niketalkers have the right to voiceour opinion which is, "if you don't like it, don't buy it."

and i do think i speak for many.

Thank you for your post, AbstraKt. This thread and rayray's thread have been very refreshing and welcome addition to a forum filled with a lot ofBS.

Having said that, if you read half the responses to your post, you will see part of the problem about forums like this... half the responses are complaintsthat your post is too long to read, another portion are arguing with those responses... it never ends.

All people want to do on forums like these is complain and argue with each other. It's a lesson I learned a while ago while reading through other,non-sneaker related forums. A lot of the problem on NT is associated with immaturity, but that doesn't mean there would be less complaining if themajority of members were older. I'll give you an example... I am a big fan of the Howard Stern show. I subcribe to Sirius XM and listen every day. Inlooking to talk about my love for the show with other fans, I found forums that claim to be "fan sites" dedicated to everything Howard Stern showrelated... I quickly found out that almost every thread on those forums is filled with people complaining about every single aspect of the show. And, if youtry to defend the show, you are called a sheep, much like if you defend anything Brand Jordan does. I don't know why I did not apply what I learned aboutother forums to NT until now, I would have saved a lot of unnecessarily spent energy I used arguing with 12 year olds, lol.

Anyway, I've gotten off track...

I'm 35 years old. I was 11 years old when MJ entered the NBA and I was 12 when the first Air Jordans were released. PERFECT age to be when thishappened. I remember everything. The entire career, every shoe release... everything. Jordans have been a part of my life for 24 years. As yousaid in the OP, the main reason I buy retros is for the nostalgia and to get shoes that I was not originally able to get when they originally released forwhatever reason. Another example: The first pair of Air Jordans I owned were the black/red AJKO I's in 1985. I liked them, but they were just a cheaperversion of the shoes I really wanted that my family could not afford. Cut to 1987, while watching a Lakers/Celtics game on CBS, I see a commercial for the newAir Jordan. The "Imagination" commercial. I was immediately had to have the II's. I HAD to have them... unfortunately, it wasn't thateasy. The were not available where I lived and the whole year went by and I was not able to get them. Of course, my want gradually became an obsession. Longstory short, while I was able to get OG III's, IV's, V's, VI's, etc... I never got the IIs. And I always wanted them. Now... cut to 1994. Seven years later and I walk into a Champs while on vacation in Arizona and what do I see? After wanting them for all that time, at 20 years old, I was ableto get the shoes that I had desired since I was 13 years old. I never thought I would see the day. I thought this retro thing was brilliant! Needless tosay, I have made up for lost time since and now own 15 pairs of II's alone. That is part of the reason I collect and look forward to every retrorelease/re-release.

Sorry... off track again...

The reason I went off track was to give a little of my own personal background to add some "validity" to what I have to say. Seeing the retroreleases the past few years, the question I ask myself most often is "Why can't they...?" Why can't they make them exactly like they usedto? Replacing the Nike Air with a Jumpman, I can understand and don't even mind. But why can't they make retros EXACTLY like they made the originalsin terms of quality, shape, etc?? Are they really saving that much money? I guess a business person would say that if it saved them a penny,it's worth it. But the newer retros are not even as good as the older retros, let alone the originals. AND, the shoes keep getting more and moreexpensive! We are paying more for a lesser quality shoe. That, I do not understand. I would understand if the market was not good and the shoes did not sellwell, so they were forced to put out lower quality shoes to make up for the lack of sales, but, from what I hear, Brand Jordan has broken the billion dollarmark... that's BILLION... with a B! So, I don't think they are hurting financially to the point that they have to make a cheaper quality product. Itreally makes no sense. The problem is, THEY JUST HIT THE BILLION DOLLAR MARK IN SALES! Obviously, if what they are putting out there is selling, they are notgoing to change anything.

I think what makes people like us end up buying inferior quality shoes is that old fashioned worry that we may never see a particular model again, so we end upsettling. At least that's the case with me. Sad but true.

Oh well, I'm 35... I can't keep buying Jordans forever, right? Of course, I thought that after I bought the retro IV's back in 1999, and here weare 10 years later and all I can think of is that I can't wait for the Space Jams in November...
laugh.gif
It never ends. At least the quality of the True Blue III's that I pickedup yesterday gives me hope that maybe they have heard our cries for better quality... I hope.

Hope you kids enjoy not reading my post...

Can any of the complainers about Jordan Brand imagine where your pockets, game, and then lives would be if you actually played ball in your Jordans? I mean, instead of simply attempting to impress other people with the rarity of what you claim to hold dear?

I wore Jordans to play ball from the sixth grade all the way through college, 1985-1992. I've been wearing Jordans since 1985... That is why I hold themdear. I couldn't care less about impressing people.

"If you don't like it, don't buy it."

that's what i wish people did, instead of buying into the hype and fueling JBs fusion (etc.) ideas...

I dont get how people come to the conclusion that just because your young you wont read? crap like this is getting ridiculous in this forum. I personally readall that and Abstrakt i think its a great post. I believe that we should get what you pay for. But what some of the older members might not realize is thatalot of the younger crowed does not even know what the quality was like on the OG"S to begin with. In the long run its just sad and pretty funny thateveryone takes time out of there day to trash talk the younger crowed. Just because kids are young doesnt mean that they didnt earn the shoes that therewearing on there feet.

It's fairly easy to come to that conclusion when half the replies to the OP are, "This is too long, I ain't gonna read this." They are toolazy to read a few paragraphs, yet they take the time to write a post to tell everyone that they are too lazy to read a few paragraphs... ridiculous. If youdon't want to read the OP, don't read it and move on. Don't embarrass yourself and admit that you are too lazy to read a few paragraphs. Theirony is, this paragraph is probably too long, so they won't even be able to take my advice lol.

Anyway...

Zachariaahh: I agree with you that the younger consumers may not have any idea what the quality used to be like, so why would they care aboutthe quality now? Good point. And that is probably one of the biggest reasons Brand Jordan continues to make a lot of money.
