How do you guys get rid of smoke smell in sneakers?

I just bought a pair of sneakers off someone, not knowing that he was a smoker. The inside of he sneaker smells like an ashtray, do you guys have any tipson how to get rid of the smell without messing the insole? Thanks in advance.

I got a pair of shoes like that from a smoker once. Honestly I just let them sit out for a day or two and the smell was gone.

Maybe his house burned down and he kept his shoes in a titanium safe, but the smoke scent was

By the way, the shoes I had received that had the smoke smell, were the 2002 Retro Blk/Red Jordan 7's aka "Raptors", and White/Red Jordan8's.
Smell was disgusting, but the shoes were brand new, and I had got a great deal on them. The smell eventually went away.

I moved out with some friends two years ago and they all smoked in the house (which actually is the reason I quit smoking) and EVERYTHING smelled like smoke.We went on vacation and our hotel room smelled like an ashtray from just the Xbox and game cases. It was so nasty. When I moved out pretty much all my stuffsmelled like smoke. My room smelled like stale cigs for about a week. I just washed and Fabreezed what I could and left my window open as much as possible.

^^Wow, I hate that smell. I also hate it when women smell like that. But bak to the topic, I sprayed them and they smell a lil better. Imma let them dry out,that will probably make the smoke smell go away. Thanks for eveybody's input.
