A Tribe Called Quest Apreciation Thread

Impressive, looks like SNL and word of mouth helped

A Tribe Called Quest’s We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service is expected to be the highest-charting debut next week after the iconic group released the statement project during perhaps the most tumultuous election season in American history.

Tribe’s swan song is projected to sell 73,000 to 83,000 equivalent album units, including streams when the Billboard Top 200 chart comes out next Monday, Hits Daily Double reports. It is expected to push up to 70,000 pure album sales.

The group’s sole #1 album is Beats, Rhymes and Life, which hit the top spot in 1996. Its last output, The Love Movement, peaked at #3 in 1998.

We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service is expected to face competition from listeners paying tribute to legendary singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen who passed away last week.

I want to get the physical when it's released on Friday

This new Tribe album has to be top 5 of the year no doubt.

Shockingly good.

Can't find my tix from '91...

De La to...

1000

I was lucky enough to go to the Tribe / De La tour back in 94 and Souls of Mischief opened up. One of the best hip hop shows I've ever been too.

On another note this album goes. They brought back their sound and it's amazing. One of the top albums of the year without question.

So what did you think?
I am not going to champion it the way some members are, but I will say it's a solid album. I would place it after BRL, but before the Love Movement in ranking terms. Tribe's first three albums are on a completely different level than their last 3 albums. With that being said though; I feel they have never put out a bad album.

Album is amazing and the timing was so perfect.

Glad they did well first week.

Great as the new album is, also want to keep appreciating the older stuff, so here's couple more tracks:

One of my favorites off of Love Movement

A song about the music industry that's more than 25 years old, but based on what I've heard, still pretty damn relevant.

$6.99 at Best Buy, got my copy. Going to try to make the Phife Dawg street renaming on Linden Blvd tomorrow.

Copped the album last week, but this morning was the first time I got the chance to listen to it.

A solid 7/10 for me. Album started off amazing, wavered in the middle, then finished strong.
