Anyone recall the AJ XI concord release in 2000. What they went through. What reactions they got, and what the shoe looks like now. I remember anticipatingthe release for along time, but they didn't have them in the town I was attending college (nor in any town fo at least a 7 hour drive), so I sent somemoney to my mom through my best friend who was visiting back home. Back in 2000 you didn't have to worry about J's selling out in Canada on the day ofthe release (I don't know what its like anymore) so asking a store to put them on hold was not that hard. So I called Champs back in my hometown ofVancouver and asked the manager to leave them on hold as my mom would come pick them up for me. Then my mom called me later that day and said that she wasreally under the weather and if it would be ok if she could pick them up the next day. I called champs and told them the situation and the manager bit my headoff, saying that he had already turned down 2 requests for my size shoe cause I promised him that my mom would come pick up the shoe. I offered the guy to payfor hte shoe over the phone bt he wouldn't have it. So I felt like the shoe was gone. I told my mom to forget about the shoe cause I didn't want herto go to the store feeling ill. On her own she called Champs and told the manager she wasn't feeling well but she would make the drive over if hewouldn't hold the shoe. I guess the guy felt bad for being a grinch, cause my mom called me back and said that he was gonna hold them for me. The nextweek I got my shoe. I still remeber the comments I got back then about those shoes. Unfortunately time has aged the once icey sole into a mustard yellowsole, and there are some mysterious brown coffee like stains on the left shoe, but I still love that particular pair for everything it took to get it. Idon't wear it anymore, but its all good, cause it got a lot of burn back in the day. Please share your stories.

My very first Jordans.

Let's see...

Wednesday, October 25th, 2000. Senior year @ Stephenson High. Had a job @ Finish Line. My manager said he would be there @ 7am to let me get them early, so Iwouldn't be late for school. I had my friend drive me there, and when we arrive...no manager!!! I was pissed. So not only did I go up there for nothing andget to school late, I had no shoes to show for it.

Half of the school was empty because they ditched school to get the shoes. By 3rd period, everybody has them on, and asking me "yo Mr. Finish Line, whereyour J's at"?! During lunch, I beg the front office lady to let me call my job, so I could BEG my asst manager to hold me a pair. He said he'd seewhat he could do.

By the end of the school day, I was scared. My friend drove me back up to the mall, and I prayed to God my job still had a size 13...and they did!!! Idon't think I've ever been more ecstatic about a shoe than this one. They were $125 retail, but $87.50 + tax for me. I was in love.

For the first year, they looked perfect (even though I wore them a great deal). But I did the stupid act of putting them in the washing machine to clean them(UGH!!!!) Eventually, they began to wear out because of the washing. They turned into street ballin' shoes.

Today, they are BEAT!!!! Right mid sole is completely off. Yellow soles. But, I still have them because they were my VERY FIRST JORDANS. Holds a special place.

I've got the DMP XI's to replace them (even though I haven't wore them yet), but nothing like some Concords.

bjw1983, that was a cool story.

I was in the 9th grade, i still remember that year just like it was yesterday.
The Capone -n-Noreaga cd, Bumpy Knuckles, portable cd player in the backpack to hide from the teachers etc.
Sorry to get sidetracked it was a foggy day and my moms gave me the money however she told me that she had to work that morning so she wouldnt be able to takeme to the mall. I got a ride, went out to the mall and finishline was the only store open extremely early to my knowledge. I thought that i was going to belate for school as well. There were only around 2 to 3 people in the mall that morning to purchase the air jordan xi retro concords. When i saw the managerpull a pair out of the box i was so happy, mesh upper, clear soles, patent leather, what more can you ask for? I asked the manager can i try them on right nowand he was like, "Yo, slow down man, easy easy lol." I was so excited that i almost took the shoes and the box just to try them on first but he toldme to pay first as he was the only one there. I said, "Alright, my fault lol. I paid, tried them on, left them on and walked out of the mall with them. Iremembered as i was walking out of the mall with them on my feet i looked in every store mirror that i passed just to see how they looked on me. I had thebrand new Sean John outfit on and everything. My ride dropped me off at school and i still managed to get to my 1st hour class on time. At lunch time i wasstanding in line and i heard most of the seniors saying, "Those dropped already, when? today?" After that word started to get around the school and bythe end of the lunch period most of the parking lot was cleared out because part of the school went to the nearest mall to purchase this sneaker. Having newkicks in school was one of the best feelings ever!

I went out to the movies a few nights ago with the 09 spacejams on, D&G outfit and everything. I was very well dressed and i look back like man its ablessing that God has kept me here for another 8+ years to be able to do the things that i want to do. The high school days were magical though imo, i miss HS.

^^me neither, i think it would be a cooler experience than just ordering online

I need a pair so bad.. the closest thing I got to them r the six rings.. smh.. my fav jays Ever

Was attending the Univ of Memphis. Had my homie take me to the Mall of Memphis. Walked in around 1 pm, grabbed my sz 11 and walked right out. Went back to mydorm and stared at them. End of story.
