I remember back when this song dropped I was in military school watching Vh1 videos with my boy. Then the video came on...me and my boy was like is thatAndre?? We was bugged out, cause it was the first time we ever seen a rapper do some wildness like that. An to our surprise we was feeling it. So we called inour homies from other rooms to come check the joint out, and they was feelin it too. Soon, "Hey Ya" was the song to vibe too.

I came home on break and I seen a lot of my other homies listening to the joint too, no one had a bad thing yo say about it. It was crazy to me. But hey, weloom to 3 Stacks to push the envelope. I wasn't on NT when the joint dropped so I'm interested to find out what was the opinion of the song on theboard. An also do you think it was because of this song, and The Love Belowalbum that artists like Kanye can drop albums lik 808's and Kid Cudi can market himself as a rapper/singer? Whatdo ya'll think?

I remember "Hey Ya" when it was "Andre's single"

I was a junior in high school, it's like the day it came out everybody was on it, an instant hit. I liked it, but I was always more of an Big Boi fan andJay-z was retiring at the time. I respected what 3 stacks did with the freshness he brought to hip hop, bein an Outkast I always knew 3 Stacks was on someother **** and it was just a matter of time before he did something like that.

As far as Cudi and Ye go, I think they would of done what they do regardless. I mean sure it probably inspired artist like them, but who hasn't Outkastinspired?

Everybody loved that song, that's the reason why they went diamond (that and it was a double album). It doesn't really matter who you are, it'seasy to vibe too.

This is one of these rare songs that doesn't come around too often. If you have ears you will like this song. It's impossible not to.

Andre 3000 opened the door a bit wider for Ye and Cudi to express themselves in a way that varies from mainstream rap music. 3k has always been ahead of histime.

damn its been 6 yrs already

The satire in that song is incredible. Probably the song of the 2000s in my opinion.

I think its's cool that people just jam and dance to it, but it's actually talking about relationships. Whenever it's on I ask someone whatthe song about and they always say "uhhhh I don't know, I just like it" as they continue to dance. Thats why he says " y'all don'twant to hear me you just want to dance"

^ yeah the song is really deep. i actually didn't realize it til that dude came out with the acoustic cover of it.

Well, it wasn't "cool" to like this song when it dropped....and I was like 14... so I didn't. Peer pressure is a $%!%!. So I'mlike %@$@ it, that song is soft or weak or whatever.. But then I grew up....

Hey Ya is a masterpiece.

Definitely a masterpiece, even my white suburban mom liked it....which kinda had me wonderin how much i really liked it

I dont know if alot of ppl new this but at the time not sure if it still holds true but it had the most spins on radio and held the record for the mostdownloads for a song of all time. I know it isnt that makor of a deal considering d/l songs wasnt out 4 ages. But still anytime a rapper can get his songplayed on everytype of music radio station is a huge leap and a step in the right direction for the acceptance of rap.

Debatable....

perfect example of a song that sould be, and by any other act would be, terrible, but the shear talent/energy of 3k, is great.
