Andre 3000's - Hey Ya...6 years later.

Saw him perform it live over the weekend at Coachella. Great experience.

I think this one will be a timeless song. A song that my grandkids will probably know the words to.

What is great about this song is how polarizing the lyrics are relative to the melody of the song. The song really hits home about how difficult relationships are and the pain involved with them, accompanied by one of the most upbeat energetic instrumentation of the last decade.

Song of the 2000's IMO.
Well said my friend, very well said

That song and the love below just reminds me of Andre's wasted potential.... It made me believe that he was going to be a once in a generation type talent... A transcendent hip hop star ... After coachella not so much

Because 1 performance where he hadnt performed in 10 years? lol

He did way better weekend 2 as well

Honestly it's not just coachella but it just cemented all the rumors about him... that he's more Joe Johnson than Kobe. That doesn't mean that I don't think he's great at what he does, but I saw him reaching the realm of Prince and MJ . I'm probably just being too hard on him

Coachella reminded me of those over the hill rock bands that get back together for one last farewell tour after being gone for a decade. Sure when they get "their" kind of crowd they'll rock out and give you a slight glimmer of what they once were but more often than not it reminds you of what could've been .............. all the lost potential

You already lost when you put 3000 in the same realm as Mike Jax and Prince.

As far as lost potential, what more do you want from Andre and Outkast as a whole? Minus Idlewild, the dudes have given us classic albums left and right. Honestly, the consecutive releases of Southernplayalistic, ATLiens, Aquemini and Stankonia might be the greatest album run by a hip-hop duo ever. All those are widely considered classics in many hip-hop circles.

If anything, these dudes FAR exceeded the potential they showed us on Southernplayalistic. Think about the growth and ability to keep it funky, fresh and different, yet still remain the same Andre Ben and Antwan Patton that we were introduced to back in '94.

If these dudes never made another album, I'd be more than satisfied with their output because what they gave us really is some of the best music of our generation.

Nah. He was never gonna be on that Prince/MJ level.

What are you guys basing this on? Hey Ya? Because dude's singing voice just wasn't strong enough to become an icon, IMO.
