^ they make 3m paint, and it's clear. So buy some olive colored angelus paint and paint the tongue, then buy the 3m paint and paint over it.

Sorry if this has been asked before but what is 3m paint? Any specific kind I need? Does the finish come out more or less the same as original?

As you know, 3m is the material that makes the tongue shine. This is a paint that will have the same effect. Choices between gold and silver are there. They are semi-transparent.

So I would prep the tongue the regular way with acetone? Then paint it olive then spray the reflective paint? Has anyone tried recreating the 3m tongue? Would like to see sample pics and materials used.

I'm also guessing it wouldn't be smart to try painting the clear soles black due to chipping?
 
That's how I would do it. I haven't gotten a chance to doit yet though, I have to order mine and I'm painting the silver portion of the Olympic 7s with 3m.

You would want to dye it black.

RIT black power dye + seaglow.

The more dye you use the more solid it would look.

Oh, man... The more answers I get the more questions I seem to have. Haha, anyway, what precautions should I take to not dye the other parts? How does this process go? Any tutorials or sample pics?
 
i like those black and white 13s on the last page..

if i can make a request id like to see some 11s with nubuck or suede instead of patent leather - no color scheme preference

I'll try to its very hard to replicate suede on patent leather

Frog tape may be able to keep out dye, but it's difficult.

Just take the seaglow /dye mix and brush it lightly on the sole and you'll be fine.

Cool. Thanks. Might also try something similar to the El Cappy Fire Red Toro Bravo customs. That anchor detail is amazing.
 
using that template can I get these colorways transferred from the hyperposites below

almost forgot with the other request but its so hard to do suede.
