Are Fire Fighters REALLY Ballin like that? Vol. Miami Heat

I was reading the newspaper today, and they had an article about Blue Collar jobs that pay more than White Collar jobs...

The top Careers were:

1.Firefighting
2.Truck Driving
3. Plumbing (

Apparently, with Overtime, alot of these dudes bring in over $100k, if they've been down for atleast 5 years.

Now, I can understand Truck Drivers and Plumbers...but Fire Fighters?

I very seldom hear stories about Fires breaking out...but say for instance, they average one Fire a day...and it takes them about an hour to put it out. Whatare these dudes doing, the rest of the day? What does a Firemen's daily schedule look like?

9/11 proved to me that Firefighters deserve everything they get (plus more)...
 
Money isn't everything.

Plus, If you have the choice...choose white collar over blue collar.
You'll have more room for career development, career switches, and raises.

There are plenty of firefighter making 100k, but I doubt any make 300k.

That 100k you make as a firefighter is going to going to be pretty physically and mentally demanding. Vs. other guys who sit in meetings all day.

I just met a Firefighter last week and he was telling me about his schedule. He works for 96 hour shifts, living at the firehouse. He then gets 72hours off. When he is not responding to calls, he is training with the crew and studying. Remember, Fire and Rescue respond to all 911 calls whether they areneeded or not so they are always doing something.

Blue collar workers do make a grip of money. When I was at the bank earlier this guy ahead of me said out-loud that he had $250k in one of his seven bankaccounts, to the teller.

A lot of ambulances that you see on the street are from fire stations. Well, I guess it depends on where you live, but a lot of fire stations have ambulances.

Like someone else said, they don't just respond to fires. They're first response, so they often respond to dangerous situations, deaths, etc.

While I may be wrong; firefighters take shifts for days. They'll walk into the station at 12AM, and won't leave during that 24/48/etc hours. They haveplaces to rest, a place to eat, and all the essentials. They're on call for all of that shift, and often have to stay overtime because they'll be outon a call when their shift ends.

dude youre just throwing numbers out there. there are white collar workers who work all their lives and never break 100k per year. stop actinglike white collar = automatic ballin.

i was thinkin the same thing...most people dont even see 100K so they aren't even thinkin about 300
 
This will probably sound dumb, but how much do truck drivers make seeing that their 2nd on the list.?? I work at a grocery store and the truck drivers thatdeliver our shipments aren't cakin at all.

It depends on how much they are willing to travel. I got an uncle that is a truck driver and he drives from Northern Cal to Southern Cal, and hepull in 2k a week easily. My uncle only heads to all the ports along the west coast.

Btw, you be surprised on how many blue collar jobs make over a 100k, especially if you got a team with many workers.The construction business is no joke,especially if you got your connections with the right builders and real estate agents.
 
It's pretty hard to get in. I have 2 friends who are training to get in. They said out of the hundreds that try out, only a dozen or so get the gig. Theyboth stated that 100k is not that far out of reach.

alot of indians in cali are truck drivers, & I know these truckers are BANKING, because im always photographing their events & they donthold back, drive around in ranges & benzes...
but the REAL money is in brokering loads & dispatching truckers.
 
my pops is a firefighter i believes he makes more than 80k a year


not to sure tho but hes been doing it for about 13 years
 
im currently a certified firefighter in the state of FL.

now in Miami..... thats the highest paying starting pay in FL, they start around 43-44k. and it goes up yearly and much more with promotions yaddayadda....BUT......

in FL, you work 24 hr shifts (8am - 8am) then have 48 hrs off..... so every 3rd day, shift work. (10 days a month, 120 days a year)

also in FL, firefighters respond to all 911 calls for the most part.... first responder, medical, fire and most police calls....

other states (mainly up north that im aware of) are strictly responding to fires.

and while on shift, if youre not at a call, firefighters are training, working out, going to classes, and doing other things in the community.


Firefighters also make alot of $$$ by having another side job, to do while they are only working 10 days a month.

its a pretty dope gig, im looking forward to getting on to a department soon.... but its hard as hell to get hired right now.

Plumbing is recession proof, believe me. My boy is a plumber, and so is his dad. They work non-stop, forget about owning your own plumbing companyand vans, you'll be pulling in 300k at least.

That's what I saw too with my mom's friend that is a Firefighter. He would always dabble into other carreers, right now he's arealtor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a Firefighter's union right?
