Its backbreaking work. Every summer growing up I would be by his side hanging him tools.. helping cut and saw and dig.. Its literally a pain. Plumbing isnt limited to fixing toilets. The majority of the real$ comes from newly built homes and establishments.

For my NYC folks, the sanitation exam is about to open. Its been seven years since the last one.

20 years in NYC Sanitation = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Some people tip them too. On Long Island, if you have a plow in the Winter time you can make SERIOUS bank.

I forgot the exact job title, but my boy just became a garbage cop. Gets to carry a gun and everything  He loves it.

But yea...sanitation workers make very good $. They also don't care about blocking the road if you're in a rush...you're on THEIR time.

I was watching a documentary some time ago that said that NYC sanitation workers make over $100K just picking up the trash...

Dads been trucking since the 90s no high school or college completed heck he didn't even finish elementary. And has gone on to be very successful in trucking. Even got his brother into it

As an owner you can make from anywhere to 1k-5k a week my pops has even made 1k in a day before the recession money was insane still good money tho

Even as a driver for a private owner you can make 1k-2k a week
( this is locally) people who go long distance can make 5k garunteed but usually that's when fuel cost and time don't make it worth it.

There are lots of blue color jobs that pay really good, but most are very physical demanding.

Some I can think of that are hot in Houston are...

Anything related to oil production.

Police/Fire Department (Officers are allowed to work extra jobs providing security and the minimum rate $30 an hour, co worker makes $50 and hour providing security to an heir to Schlumberger, puts in 40 with the PD and another 30+ on his extra job).

Construction (especially home) and teh associated trades.

Oilfeild worker here and last year. I made 50 in 4 months after training . Just got another gig with a different company and I'm getting 120-130 a year . The only downside is I work 2 weeks on and 1 week off , in a few years I'm hopping to work out the country where they do one month on and one month off while still getting paid for the month off. Came in with no experience or connections straight off the street
