I think JB will go in a new direction focusing in Team Jordan models and & making Retros extra limited & Also signing new athletes in the NBA, MLB, NFL & Boxing and giving them their own line just like they did with Jeter, Roy Jones Jr., Melo & CP. The sad thing is once the XX3's & Countdown Packs drop JB will lose some hype, it will be difficult for them to compete with Nike, Adidas, reebok etc. as far as making bball sneakers because their quality & technology is still stuck in the 90's people mostly buy Retros for collecting and to wear them as casual kicks not just for bball any pair of numbered J's looks good with jeans and a t-shirt and the history behind the shoes that's what make Jordans a hot pair of kicks. Look at the Team Jordans for example why would you buy a .5 or a Team Jordan model for $125-$175 when you can get Kobe's or Lebron's, Adidas or any other Nike signature sneaker? And the collecting Jordan's hype will die down I personally don't know anybody that collects .5's & Team Jordans and only time will tell if a .5 or a Team Jordan model will be worth buying for collecting purporse, but maybe the new generation will not care as long as the sneakers have a Jumpman on them. Overall JB will be fine!!!

Ten years from now, I see JB with a completely different brand positioning. Because this is not NIKE, Jordan Brand is different in that it has a personality of it's own, it carries the face of Michael Jordan and his hand-picked JB members. By 2017, most if not all the JB members in the league today, would be out by then. Things will be more aged in a vintage way

So where is the positioning different? I don't see many sneakerheads chasing JB products in the next ten years, given other responsiblities, financial issues, families, growing out of this sneaker culture, or even perhaps not liking the brand anymore for the product it offers etc. Instead of appealing to the masses, because by 2017 kids would only have HEARD of Michael but never actually seen him perform live on TV, products would be quality, designed and Italian-esque -inspired almost in a pioneer way. Geared more towards adults who lived to watch MJ play in that era. Not hypebeast limited, but limited. It would never become a granny brand, more like timeless classics- Polo, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Ferrari

... I dunno... just my two cents...

I sincerely hope my prediction is wrong. I dont think the Jordan line will ever again be what it was. Keep in mind, when I say Jordan line, I mean more than Jordan Brand; I am speaking of way back when Js had Nike Air on the heel.

See, I am in the minority on this board (I think). I remember seeing Michael play in his prime. I was young, yes, but that made it all the more special. I remember watching him and believing that on any given night, anything was possible. I have sincere sympathy for todays young people that were too late to witness the greatness that was MJ. Watching replay compilations cannot capture the same feeling, and the MJ that played for the Wizards was merely a shell of the man.

The shoes were an extension of the man. You didnt want them because they were limited; it never crossed your mind that these might be collectors items; you didnt buy them because they matched a shirt you had. You wanted them because they were your connection to the man. You actually believed that somehow those shoes made you a better player. Nothing else looked like them; they were the best shoes out there, by far. Seeing the new Js each year was like a holiday, and the man actually wore them himself.

What I see in the future is one of two things. One, JB continues to issue retros in limited numbers that command such high prices they are not affordable for the average young person who cannot appreciate their significance to begin with. JB will supplement the retros with Team Jordan shoes that, while technological advanced, fail to capture what made the original Jordans great.

Or two, JB will retro itself out. There are only so many different ways to color the retros before people will eventually lose interest. The shoes become too commonplace to a consumer that, again, cannot fathom what made the shoes so incredible to begin with.

Again, I hope I am wrong. I hope JB finds a new niche and produces shoes that keep the brand at the pinnacle of the market. Perhaps by continuing to sign new athletes that are able to capture the youth similar to the way MJ did. I realize such a pessimistic post probably isnt what will win a shirt; I just wanted to add my two cents.

lilhen makes good points... I've already voiced my opinion I just wanted to comment that I agree with his logic for the most part but I still need 2008 to close before I can offer a more informed decision for the next decade

To start with i could care less about this stupid t shirt, Im just speaking my mind. To me I have no clue where jb is going. Ive only been collecting for about a year now. When i was younger i always liked seeing the jordan shoe etc but never had the smarts or the money to think of buying a pair. Then now when Im able to get these retros to have some feeling of what you old collectors feel watching him play live. I can only remember a little of him playing before the wizards or be4 the movie Space Jam. So now JB says 08 is the last year be4 retros are going to fade away how is it going to be possible for people trying to start like me to obtain these shoes he broke records in. Like many people posted in here jb is making these wack retros for kids my age just because theyve never seen him play and they just want them for fashion. Thats true because thats all the kids at my school care about. Including me mayb 10-20 True kids care about what he did on the court not the crap thats releasing. So i hope they still will continue retros but not so close to each other. I thought it was stupid to release all the ones lows together. They should just make the team jordans there priorty but continue to retro 1-22 at a slower rate.And like other said in 10 years kids wont no who michael jordan is, well its true because they never got to she all the tv commercials nd the movies etc but the people now collecting or trying to collect a piece of history will.

CONTINUED- Now with 08 just around the corner, this is going to be the last of retros. So how will someone like me or other people in my situation be able to get these packages in such short time of each other. 300+ for each package is basically impossible for a teenager to afford every other month. So if Jb is going to finish off retros atleast make it resonable for people to cop them and spread them out more.

To be honest we cant for sure say where JB will be in 10 years. Think about it it can go one of two ways either they can satisfy collectors of sneakers (real collectors) and put the nike air on the back of the 3, 4, 5, and 6 but then what will it do for there profit? If you have noticed with the development of team jordans the cheap ones they have been able to put out cheap shoes just so kids in the hood can say "I got some J's"; it has made them alot of money in the last few years so that will still be there. But what i also see is them getting tired if hearing real sneaker collectors sayin "where is the quality?" "where is the inspiration?". So what they could do and i really can see them do this is put back the old quality the old structure and yes the ever beloved "NIKE AIR" (which I love) back on the og colors of retros. Now does that mean you give the non og colors the same treatment no because that will devalue the sneaker again and we don't want to keep going in circles again. Also they do not need to stop the retro either. I know they say they aren't completly but still keep the fans happy cause when the fans are unhappy then you lose money so its a win win situation. Now with this lifestyle situation it will definitly be the front runner of JB. As we can see it is where JB wants to go and i say hey go for it if you can establish yourself as a true fashion line insyead of modeling at just the BET Fashion Awards then go for it. Hopefully in ten years JB can fix its tinks and satisfy everybody and yes im pretty sure they will try. JB please dont die you saved sneakers if you die so will sneaker collecting in the long run.

Ok, So I have been here for 7 years and i have rarely contributed to things like this, but since a Free T-shirt is involved then I will speak my mind. haha

I have browsed and read every single post ever posted. From the
"I hate Gentry" to "PickUps" to "quality". I have learned about the way I see myself and they way people look at others. By far most the, the Brand Jordan itself has learned and changed it the most. I have loved some decisions and I have hated some decisions But those decisions are what have made them what they are today. They have taken extreme risks with everything. From watches and mp3's to Laptop bags Jordan done a lot. Speaking for one who wants to become a footwear designer, Jordan Brand is in a bright future ahead of themselves. Obviously, we will see tons of outrageous experiments, but we will also see enormous amounts of tecnological advances. I have worked at a shoe store for 5 years since I was 15 years old. I have noticed from consumers of the way they react to certain Jordan Brand models. They hate the black leather, they hate the patnent leather, they hate the crome etc. Everyone consumer has they're own taste, but in the end they bought the product. The name JORDAN made the want to buy it. We need to understand that although Nike and Jordan are not visible together in products that it doesn't mean that they still don't function the same. Nike made Jordan and Jordan made Nike. QUICK NOTE: i am at work and one thing i kids and adults do is to chose jordan's over nike's. why? i ask!!! Cause jordan is better says the customers. They are shocked when i tell them that jordan is nike. Believe that this happens once a week.

As for success and expansion of the brand. I have read tons of responses that state ," OH RETRO'S WILL DIE OUT AND OH THAT JORDAN WILL JUST LIVE OFF OF RETRO'S." I really want to take away the word retro and replace it with the word CLASSIC. Nike has created classics like AM 90-360 and Air Forces,blazers, dunks, cortez. I never hear anyone complain about them. AND ONLY THESE SURVIVE DUE TO GREAT REACTIONS FROM CROWDS and they will continue to get produced to make money. Well my friends,
JORDAN IS LEARNING TO CREATE CLASSICS ONE BY ONE. I see more releases of team elites, team strongs, cues, and team 10/16's being released again. Must have been great sellers.
If retro signature series do decline then Jordan will definitely push it's focus towards team and new talent signature series EX: Melo's, CP and other new talent. OH wait, doesn't Nike do that already. Then later Jordan will slowly release their classics in a different way just as how nike does it now. EX BARKELEYS, PENNY'S

Jordan will expand their womens line. They will move into tremendous amounts of seasonal gear for all sports. BASEBALL,FOOTBALL,TENNIS,SOCCER,RUNNING!!! They do that now but not with various colors and styles. EXAMPLE. one football shoe for each season. Instead, it will be 5 or 6 styles.
Prices will still be high for many, but it will be because JORDAN would want to be known as the better buy for your buck. I honestly see a JORDAN ID available in the near future. I see them moving into a LARGE BUILDING OF THEY'RE OWN. if all goes well that is. I sure do see more of an involvement from the consumers than it is now. They will want the consumers to feel like they can exclusively receive jordan items by being more involved themselves.
As for the designs of the shoes. We have all witnessed the addition of JT and we have met the current designers. All great people if i may add. Imagine this, they will only increase and they will only push out more than they do know. Going back to my job, when i first started our jordan wall had only 5 shoes on it, but now it consists of 25 styles on it. Anyways, I see the Brand headed in the right direction, with a major expansion of employees and facility. I really hope so because I hope to see myself there in 6 years.
All this has been a recollection of 7 years going by my eyes.

one last thought, For the involvement of Jordan himself. I see him still putting a thought on products but not as specific and he can now. The bigger the brand is the less little things he can cover.

In ten years..

I see JB still doing their thing. They would still be selling their products to the younger crowd, but the kids wouldn't know who the "jumpman" is. It would just be another hype that i would think, would last a while. They will keep throwing out different colorways, and keep doing callaborations to test the next generation and find out what is "in" and whats not. Instead of being the trendsetters, they will follow the trends. On the other hand. OG's would keep increasing in value, and some select Recent LS Colorways might increase as well.
