and EVERY single time i watch this movie, i have questions. i think i understand EVERYTHING now except one little detail.

<<<<<<<SPOILERS>>>>>>>

Mark Walhburg shoots Matt Damon at he end but how does he know that Matt was that bad person or whatever??

i think he sort of suspects him all along
this movie is

btw
their accent takes me back

I feel like he knew is was bad all along---but couldn't touch him because he was a cop. Once he quit, he was like "eff it" and just did it. Also, how could you NOT know Matt was the bad person in that movie!? Dude was just too perfect....

other than that...he could've been tailing dude--could've known when he met Leo on the roof for all we know.

On a side note, Infernal Affairs>>>The Departed.

think of the envelope he left for matt damon's girl if something should happen to him within the next 2weeks........she went to his character with the infoand well he took it from there

I think he put everything together AFTER everyone killed each other at the elevator.

He already knew that there was a rat inside the precinct.

He already knew that DiCaprio was a undercover. He could have just said, "Yeah, there's a rat in the precinct, someone who's on Costello'sside and on our side. It's DiCaprio, but he's working for us. End of story."

But he also already knew that Queenie was murdered by Costello's boys, so DiCaprio couldn't have been the rat. It had to have been someone else.

I think he just put a lot of things together and figured out that Damon was hiding way too much to be innocent, and that it wasn't coincidental that hecame out alive from that elevator scene.

This is probably going to blasphemy to most of the people who saw Infernal Affairs first, but I really thoughtThe Departed topped it. And this is coming from someone who saw Infernal Affairs several times and thought TheDeparted would be pure trash.

i never saw the departed but saw all 3 infernal affairs. for the people that have seen both where does the departed end off at?

I've seen Internal Affairs, and I can't co-sign it being better than The Departed.

The Departed >>> Internal Affairs

Do the sequel and third installment of Infernal Affairs come before the first one (timeline)? I've wanted to see the other two, but my Blockbusterreceived it when I lost interest, and quite frankly, I haven't heard many good things about them.

i always figured that the envelope had instructions to call wahlbergs character if something happened to dicaprio...

as far as the departed vs. infernal affairs...they are both great movies, but i may have to give the edge to infernal affairs because communicating throughmorse code is way cooler than the lame text messaging in the departed...

number 2 was a prequel and 3 was a sequel. 2 was cool cause you get to see how it led to number 1. 3 was ok/good it wasnt great.

i figured it had to do with the envelope and the doctor/girlfriend...i guess theres no clear answer tho

I agree, it had to do with the envelope and the girlfriend. Like a "if I die, give this to Marky Mark."

IMO, the movie was good, not great...my favorite lines came during the stakeout scene in that construction site, when they can't hear a part of aconversation bc the mics were set up poorly:

Guy: "Who the *bleep* are you?"
Wahlberg: "I'm the guy who gets his job done. You must be the other guy."

Had me dying.

That's what I always thought...

I'd have to agree. That whole scene had me dying.

The way I see it is that he probably figured that with people like Costigan, Queenan, Costello and his crew members dead he could resume some sort of normallife and that guy was just another person in the way of that so he got offed too.

anyone who thinks infernal affairs is better than departed needs to do some soul searching... its one of scorcese's best

also the girl gave marky mark the envelope and than the underwear model stepped his gully up
