Motivational quotes to keep you going.

If a country is governed wisely,
its inhabitants will be content.
They enjoy the labor of their hands
and don’t waste time inventing
labor-saving machines.
Since they dearly love their homes,
they aren’t interested in travel.
There may be a few wagons and boats,
but these don’t go anywhere.
There may be an arsenal of weapons,
but nobody ever uses them.
People enjoy their food,
take pleasure in being with their families,
spend weekends working in their gardens,
delight in the doings of the neighborhood.
And even though the next country is so close
that people can hear its roosters crowing and its dogs barking,
they are content to die of old age
without ever having gone to see it.

Lao Tzu

“A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.”

"There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness."

“The present is a rope stretched over the past. The secret to walking it is, you never look down.”

This was the thread, so many motivational quotes since the yuku days. My personal favorites were.

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, I used everything you gave me.

Why do I succeed?

I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not.
I will fight against the odds.
I will sacrifice.
I am not shackled by fear, insecurity or doubt.
I feel those emotions--drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell.
I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride.
Pride consumes the weak--kills their heart from within.
If I fall--I will get up. If I am beaten--I will return.
I will never stop getting better. I will never give up--ever.
That is why I succeed

Every sunrise in Africa a Gazelle wakes up, it knows that it must out run the fastest lion in order to survive. Every sunrise in Africa a Lion wakes up, It knows that it must out run the slowest Gazelle in order to survive. It doesnt matter if you are a Gazelle or a Lion, sunrise comes, you better be running.

“Trials, temptations, disappointments — all these are helps instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly. They not only test the fiber of character but strengthen it…Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before.”

The most profound quote via Terry Crew's Reddit convo:

"I constantly get out of my comfort zone," he says. "Looking cool is the easiest way to mediocrity. The coolest guy in my high school ended up working at a car wash. Once you push yourself into something new, and whole new world of opportunities opens up. But you might get hurt. In fact you WILL get hurt. But amazingly when you heal — you are somewhere you've never been."

Another thing I found elsewhere:

"No pressure. No diamonds."

Falling in life is inevitable—staying down is optional.

“Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.”

“I believe that you’re great, that there’s something magnificent about you. Regardless of what has happened to you in your life, regardless of how young or how old you think you might be, the moment you begin to think properly, there’s something that is within you, there’s power within you, that’s greater than the world. It will begin to emerge. It will take over your life. It will feed you. It will clothe you. It will guide you, protect you, direct you, sustain your very existence, if you let it. Now, that is what I know for sure.”

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

“ Since if you are feared to get hurt, then you do not dare to try anything, you are not enjoying your rights of being young at all. What we should be really fear of are not failures but the heart that is no longer brave enough to take risks and embrace challenges.”

“However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?”

“Keep love in your heart. Life without it is like a sunless garden where the flowers are dead.” -Oscar Wilde”

The tree that never had to fight,
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out on the open plain,
And always got it’s share of rain,
Never became a forest king,
But lives and dies a scrawny thing.

The man who never had to toil,
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share,
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man,
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow in ease,
The stronger the wind, the stronger trees
The farther sky, the greater the length
The more the storm, the more the strength,
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In tree and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
This is the common law of life.
