Motivational quotes to keep you going.

I, probably like many others on here, battle demons that seem silly even talking about. They are the internal mindset problems that stop or slow down what we are capable of. For me, my biggest problem is that I seek approval. This could be wanting to see people rep my post, parents be proud of grades, all girls thinking i'm good looking, etc. I spent so much time in my life trying to work hard for others. Great results, but I've always left needing that approval to keep going. It's stupid. 2014 has been all about crushing it for my own reasons, and not caring what others around me are feeling.

These quotes have kept me on track:

"“All discomfort comes from suppressing your true identity.”

and

“When you stop living your life based on what others think of you real life begins. At that moment, you will finally see the door of self acceptance opened.”

moderndarwin moderndarwin Some great quotes fam. I go through the same thing. It's definitely a serious struggle for me.

Random but I was watching the boondocks... I love this quote.

"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity..."
Khalil Gibran

Thanks for that. This part of that quote really rings true, "And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields."

I guess the true test of growing up has been the ability to keep taking steps forward as you take a step back. Funny enough (never would of thought this) but that Blake Griffin quote works well too, "You have to fall in love with the process of becoming great."

I refuse to live behind excuses. If your past was tough, work to make your future better. Do not repeat the same mistakes, whether they are yours or someone else's.

Love this thread. These quotes are dope. I'm going through tough times as well. Professionally I'm in limbo. My faith will guide me. I'm so close to my goal I can touch it. Stay strong fellas

Willpower is the key to success. Successful people strive no matter what they feel by applying their will to overcome apathy, doubt or fear.
This thread is great and all but I believe successful are successful because they developed good habits. Willpower is a finite resource and when that runs out they have habit to fall back on.

"When you're struggling to push out that extra little bit at the finish line, think about the people who said you couldn't do it. Listen to their voices and listen to how sure they were that you'd fail. That last little bit will become the easiest thing of the entire race."

I wrote that because it's something I do when I'm struggling to finish strong when doing padwork.. I think about my girl's father and how he says I'm out of shape and I can't do anything.. It gives me a second wind and I blast through those last seconds like I'm refreshed completely. I do it when sprinting too.

Every time you think someone got it good, it ain't always good. Some people just make up their mind and just grind and say to heck with it. Because sometimes that's all you can do.  - Ray Lewis
