Surprisingly, Rihanna's best songs on the album are the slower ballad joints...

After the first listen, this album is nothing special. I think this new edge they tried to give to her did not carry over into the music. Just because youcurse a bunch on an album like never before, does not mean there's an edge. I'm really let down, but will give it several more spins as time goes on...
P.S. "Rockstar" should've been her on the hook and leave the verses for a rapper. Song would have been ILL(!) like that ...

Never listened to a Rihanna album and I gotta say the album so far aint bad. Has a cohesive feel.

I actually like Rated R ALOT!
Its pretty solid, but nothing like Good Girl Gone Bad.

Finally this thread popped back up ...... After listening to this album a couple of times ..... It's complete and utter trash
Outside of four or five songs, I could do without hearing this again in my entire life ..... It's like either the song is completely irritating or thelyrics is trash
Before I never understood why people would find Rihanna's voice annoying but after listening to this, it was like nails against a chalkboard
On the other hand when she actually sings on Photographs (which does sound like a better fit on BEPs album, which makes sense seeing as she strong armed willfor it ), G4L its like
I really hope she drop G4L as a single
This would've been a whole lot better if they dropped it as a 7 song EP w/o the rest of crap

Rihanna already gave us her "Rockstar 101" best on last year's Rated R, so this time she's turning it up with a new CD whose title says it all. The singer revealed in a chat with fans over the weekend that her fifth studio effort will be called Loud.
It's due out on November 2 and is preceded by the single "Only Girl (In the World)," which premiered on Ryan Seacrest's radio show early Tuesday (September 7).
"I'm done recording the whole album," Rihanna revealed during the chat, which took place on the official fansite Rihanna Daily. "I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you've got some great songs to justify it. I didn't want to go backward and remake [2007's] Good Girl Gone Bad. I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna, and it's perfect for us."
The singer said she's never been this excited about any album she's done, urging the members of her RihannaNavy to "get LOUD everybody, get crazy, get excited, cuz I'm pumped. I'm just gonna be ME, cuz that's what u guys love the most, and that's what makes me feel best.
Just being normal, normal for me is LOUD! Sassy, fun, flirty, energetic."
While Rihanna said she'll miss the Rated R era, she promised that one year after that dark, emotional effort, "nothing compares to the album I just made." She also teased some "surprise" collaborations on the disc, though she didn't reveal any names during the chat.
"Girl" is produced by Stargate, who also collaborated with Rihanna on such early hits as "Don't Stop the Music," "Hate That I Love You" and the R banger "Rude Boy."

The song, which premiered early Tuesday morning (September 7) on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, plays off the title of her Last Girl on Earth tour and was produced by the Norwegian production team Stargate, who were also behind her hits "Don't Stop the Music" and "Hate That I Love You."
On the high-energy track, Rihanna yearns for her lover to keep her at the center of his attention over a pulsing electro beat. The singer's voice remains silky on the verses, then bursts out on the song's monstrous chorus.
"Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world/ Like I'm the only one that you'll ever love/ Like I'm the only one who knows your heart/ Only girl in the world," she belts.
"Only Girl" is a departure from "Russian Roulette," the stark lead single from her 2009 album Rated R. The new track only furthers speculation that the singer's fifth album, Loud, will contain material that isn't as dark as the songs on her last full-length.
Back in June, producer Sean Garrett told MTV News that he was working with Rihanna on material that was "very positive and very explosive. Heavy in the club."
Last week, Ri tweeted at Seacrest a hint that new music would drop soon: "In less than 10 dayz ima send u sumn special," she wrote, "and ur gonna play it OVER and OVER, like I'm the only girl in the world!"
