OFFICIAL AIR FORCE ONE THREAD!!!!!

I swear, I'm not "planting" these comments. But, it's fun.

You mean the metallics, right?

Not the regulars?

And, white-base, red swoosh, not red-base, white swoosh, right?

And, mids, right? Not lows?

And, leather, right? Not canvas?

...And, we were only talking jewels, right, not... okay, I'll end it here.

Damn.

BIP. How many years have you put into your Air Force 1 collection? I hate to even call it a collection, it's more like a catalog. I remember when SOLE dropped that 25th anniversary book that somehow got thrown away by my ex :smh: and I would look at it all the time in amazement of all of the dope pairs, mentally checking off the ones that I had or destroyed. But you have the actual version of that in reality.

Crazy how deep your arsenal is. It also makes me wish that I had kept so many pairs that I took for granted.

Thanks for the love, guys.

I've put a lot of years into collecting AF1s.

I started working odd jobs and stuff to buy sneakers when I was a kid. Bought my first pair of shoes with my own money in 1990 - a pair of white/royal blue Air Flight 90s. I bought my first AF1 in 1995 - bought two pairs at the same time - a pair of white on white canvas mids with very subtle blue accents, and a pair of black on black suede highs with silver accents. I've since recaptured a pair of the blacks, but never added the whites again. By this time, I was buying sneakers pretty regularly - I wouldn't say, collecting them, but buying more than the average. By like '98, I was really buying lots of stuff - had legal and illegal money coming in, and life was care free and good. It was really just about having colors to rock with everything - especially in the summer. In the winter, it was all about Gore Tex. I've always been a Nike, Polo, North Face guy, with some jerseys here and there because I love sports. But, really, the shoe I loved more than any other was the AM95.

I bought lots of AF1s and 95s in the late 90s to early 2000s. This was around the time that I realized collecting sneakers was actually a thing. I never really thought of it that way before. As Ebay rose, I started going back and trying to find stuff I had remembered wanting in the past. As we get to the mid 2000s, the mom and pop stores started closing more, which led me to try to talk my way into some local joint stock rooms - was successful a few times and unsuccessful more times.

Now, the 95 is like the worst shoe ever for durability of vintage, so once I started to realize that there wasn't much future in stockpiling glory day 95s that would soon become unwearable, I decided to devote more of my efforts to AF1s. Though I had lurked NT since the very early days, probably just after NikePark, I didn't joint until like '08. I think I may have made an account in '06 under a different name , but I didn't really post. A lot of the guys from the Showcase thread really helped me out too, and my collection probably grew most quickly in the late 2000s. STUNTMAN MIKE has been a god send, especially.

The AF1 is a collector's dream because there's really no complete history of CWs. Every now and then I'll still see a pic of something that I'd never seen before. If you like vintage AF1, there's no cheat sheet, you have to roll up your sleeves and learn. By today's sneaker standards, most stuff is relatively affordable, but when you're hunting AF1s, you pay with your time and energy, not your wallet. I have pairs that I've been looking for for many years.

my man BIP! i always enjoy reading your posts.
i need to dig out more forces to wear. wore some snake IDs and cow hide IDs this weekend. really contrasts with putting on a pair of oldies. the new pairs really feel terrible. no big deal if that's all you know, but having the good stuff to reference really ruins the modern af1 experience

^ Agreed! What sucks for me (and a lot of size 10.5+ heads) is that while the new joints generally don't do much for me with their quality, shape and feel, I have a really hard time finding the great older pairs in my size. And when I do, they're often pretty used. So I'm usually stuck on the outside looking in over there in the Showcase thread, pissed off because of all the ridiculous heat you guys post.

BIP is right about the AF1 hunt though. It can take years to find that one pair and that's half the fun. Hell, it took me about 9 years to find a pair of Courirs in my size. NEVER selling those after all the hours spent on eBay, various B/S forums, etc. trying to track those down.

i hope they retro these, specifically in the white with the red checc

Just got these ID's in. They are not mine, ordered for a friend with my discount code... just thought I'd share before he picks em up.

Quality was surprisingly on point. Only noticed flaw was the paint peeling on the heel area of the midsole

I just picked up the brazil qs from late last year/early this year, this model is really nice and is a great looking summer shoe. The quality is actually is actually decent too. This are available discounted in many places, (in the uk at least) I'd advise if you can pick them up discounted do so, you won't regret it.

@BIP Roberts, that was the first wall of text i've ever read on NT. repped

nike, polo and north face.. that's been my uniform since high school

Nike Transforms The Lunar Force 1 Into A Sneaker Wedge
May 14th, 2014 by John Kim

What started off as Nike’s spin-off of Isabel Marant’s legendary sneaker wedge has now become one of the most popular categories in Nike Sportswear. Nike’s wedge sneakers are all the rage, but we knew that a women’s version of the Air Force 1 High would soon come; this first look at this new model reveals the classic basketball sneaker from ’82 envisioned as a women’s high-top, but with a Lunar-based midsole meshed with the classic AF1 design. Release information hasn’t been set yet, so check out the full photo and stay tuned to Sneaker News for the latest.
