From Jason Petrie / ALPHAPROJECT's interview with SneakerNews , they talk about the "new hyperdunk".

SN: Are you involved at all in the new Hyperdunk?

JP: Only in the fact that I get to say, ‘Ooh that’s sweet!’ We’re all kind of involved in each other’s stuff around here. Its Leo (Chang)’s shoe, but everybody had input along the way. It’s just the way we work as a studio around here. Leo’s a great designer. He doesn’t need my help. Leo takes care of the “Hyper

How could the same dude (Leo Chang) who does KD's shoes - which are performance beasts, mind you - also be guilty of the abomination that is the Hyperize!?

Guess you can't have the good without the bad... I'll go with KD's shoes over the Hyperize any day of the week.

I can already tell that the shoes pictured above would be amazing with heel AND forefoot Zoom, but they probably feature lunarCRAP up front...

Personally, I am really feelin' these. I agree that they look like a mid-cut version of the ZK5; and the only thing I dislike about the ZK5 is that itis a lowtop shoe. So much potential with this one *salivates as he thinks of PE and TB colorways*

BTW, does anyone have release date info on 'em? If its in the near future, I may just have to hold off on my new gameday shoe search.

I was hoping for one with the original design but with zoom where the lunar is. That would just be the perfect shoe for me.

Not too sure what to think just yet, but they're nice....but if I have to compare reaction to when I first saw the OG HD to these...I'll say Part 1 gotmy attention a lil' more...

Honestly I don't think that Leo Chang is good on designing top performance bball sneakers( Where are you Eric?). He messed things up on the Hyperize byputting the harded Phylite foam which lead to stiff cushioning. The ''One piece'' TPU heel counter ain't perfect if it hasn't got aninternal one too. I don't wanna talk about the place where he put the outrigger... useless and fragile. The hidden eyelet was removed without even thinkingabout the big loss of fit and lockdown. Lastly the herringbone he put was useless too by putting them in small boxes.. All these things lead to an injury proneshoe thanks to lack of stability and protection.

About these, notice the same heel counter and once again the lack of a hidden eyelet..
Pros: Skinwire, ZKV alike outrigger and 3 eyelets on top.

I really hope these won't let us down like the Hyperizers did. Again, IF they are the next HDs! (though they look like a Leo Chang design due toosimilarities from the Hyperizers) I just wish that he will improve on these and not make the same mistakes again.

you can tell how a shoe will play by looking at a catalog scan?

(bows down)

i do agree the hyperize suck, the ride is hard and they feel like fake nikes...

Is that a Carbon Fiber Pattern or just alot of Flywire?

I dont think you guys realize how many kicks these dudes have to design in ONE season. When I critque I do it with purpose and state what I would have donedifferently... the Designer appreciates that more than just... its garbage or It could be better.

You guys may or may not realize when you give constructive feedback good or bad they can actually use it.

clkru: It all depends on the design brief and project the designers are given. Marketing might see a need in the market place so they create a shoe that fitsthe need for the certain demographics that they are going for.

Also, don't forget that during the creative process of a shoe, many different people have input into the direction of the shoe. Design directors, fellowdesigners, developers, material designers, etc. Some of the feedback is for the better, while some is not. In the interview with Jason Petrie from sneakernews,he touches on this aspect.

Plus, marketing tends to water down the original designs to create "safer" products that will sell well in the marketplace.
