Kobe: "It's harder to get to the basket than when Jordan played"

kobe is now crying!

and not to belabor the issue, but i concur w/what rivers said. i think it's a shame that folks are so pre-occupied tearing kobe down. dude definitelyain't a model citizen or the world's most likable dude, but hoops fans are gonna be sorry when he hangs em up. guy is a serious talent and the likes ofwhich does not come along very often. the sad thing is that i don't think he'll ever get to fully realize his potential. it's useless to talk aboutwhat shoulda or coulda been, but before his knucklehead Colorado incident, KB's game was really clicking and poised to reach levels where not too manyother players have ever been.

Kobe should have tried playing the old Pistons with Jordan rules...

Kobe actually may be right. It IS harder for him to get quite to the basket, because odds are that the refs will call a foul on the player who is guarding him before he gets all the way to the basket, due to weak rules that don't allow proper defense to be played.
That I'll buy. Player are too busy shooting free throw every time they get glared at, other wise the rest of what he is say is crap. Playerscan't even hit jumpers today. The Center position has never been weaker, team defense is dead and man on man d is a joke.

i'll take kobe's opinion over these 'analysts' here on NT.

kobe has dedicated more hours to playing and watching basketball than all of us combined.

the players today are lucky because there is no Pistons type Bad Boys playing style!

well said

I swear I read this article like 3 weeks ago. Or maybe this board just keep talking about the same things over and over again... Different eras and differentrules. There is no way to say that the D today is harder to drive on because of stacked zones- just as its impossible to try to say that refs give greatplayers now all the calls and no one plays D anymore.

Kobe would've been fine in Jordan's time and vice versa.

that's true, but kobe is really a jumpshooter (a great one at that) with the ability to get to the rack anytime. even when he was a young kid and the zoneD was not in full effect, he was still a primarily a jumpshooter. jordan was mostly a jumpshooter. but kobe's perimeter game is so freaking good that teamsplay him for the jumper than for the drive. he's guarded so close and you always have other guys shadowing him.

on the other hand, u see teams giving wade/bron a gazillion space to shoot. but those guys are so strong and quick that they can drive.

i mean, u still see kobe jacking up 3s when he's isoed on one side at times with no help. in fact, he does that quite often this yr

. but like i said, his perimeter game is so much on point that shooting jumperswill conserve his body/legs and prevent stupid injuries.
