The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

Co-sign on the Eye-fi and Snapseed combo. Taking Instagram pics to the next level. Haha.

But I still wish the Eye-fi card or app lets you select which photos to upload and not uploading the whole bunch.

^^^^^^Different beast really. I know VSCO has editing tools but it's really for the filters (or filter since only some are okay to use). Snapseed is pretty much photoshop. For some photos, I'd take it in VSCO and then edit the rest in Snapseed. Liked I'll used VSCO's black and white filter (the last one) and then in Snapseed, I can tint it a tad blue or yellow.

There is a setting that allows you to select which pics to transfer by locking the picture on the memory card.

I just checked my app and didn't see that setting. So you are saying I have to lock every photos in my camera in order to upload one? Still seems like a lot of work. What if I shoot 500 photos and want to upload one photo on my phone. That will be a lot of time spent doing that unless there is a "lock all" option.

I think you have to do it from the program on the computer when you configure the eyefi. But you have it backwards, if you want one picture then you lock that picture and it will only transfer that one.

You can do all of that in VSCO though.

Just some questions to possibly help you out. What's your budget? What kind of photography/what are you going to be shooting? Are you particular to primes or zooms?

Yo, Snapseed is the truth! It's > than anything else out there pretty much. I just wish it had the ability to mess with curves. I remember Jared Polin - Fro Knows Photo - put me on it  If anything, Snapseed first, then VSCO.

Have any of you guys used Aviary? I tried Snapseed for a little bit, but ended up liking Aviary more. Maybe I'll give Snapseed another shot since a bunch of you guys seem to like it.

Yeah, I know they have a nice set of controls. Snapseed does have "Ambiance" tool that is awesome. I am not even totally sure what it does but it seems to balance out the lights and darks in a photo so it meets in the middle. That alone (for Insta photos) is just a proper tool. They also have an HDR filter that I used sparingly to bring out details in some photos and also a select adjust which is useful if one part of a photo needs adjusting. Also I am sure their vignetting tool is better as well.

You guys just put me on snapseed and VSCO. Didn't even know about them until they were mentioned in here. Thank you :smokin

All this miami talk makes me feel like someone should let me crash and we can do a photo walk!

if y'all have the money you can have an effin good *** time here in Boracay. The resort I'm staying at is only 150$ bucks per night and it's super nice.

effin beautiful over here

Living in Miami was always a dream of mine. It fell in my lap. Trying to figure out how to establish myself down here. So many photographers and then flaky models with portfolios full of iphone selfies with no modeling experience claiming paid assignments only. It's a struggle for real. Shows you how to run your business.

^^You can blame social networks and photoshop for that. :smh:

Yes sir, North Miami Beach area.

Word. Im in Pembroke Pines. Moving to Miami Beach in June we should link up. Got an IG?

I don't have much on there because I used my tablet and it takes ****** pic.

I'd be down, I'm sure I can learn a lot more. I know of some dope spots near the Wynwood area. Was planning on going this Sunday but my manager asked me to work so I'm gonna see what I can do on Monday & Tuesday.

Haven't posted in a while. My personal equipment actually got stolen last week. They got my Nikon D600, D40, 35 1.8, and 50 1.4. Luckily I have a backup D600 with a few lenses at work.

My insurance is hardly covering anything, since I just recently converted to a full-time photographer and didn't have business insurance. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a Sony a7 next Monday.

Dang sorry to hear about your gear. Was it at work, home, car?

well that sucks, how did they end up swiping your gear? also curious why you're thinking of going with the a7 (that, or the next generation of that is definitely going to be my next camera) over the a traditional dslr (or a7r os a7s)?
