The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

I don't get this at all. Are you saying cause someone is going to look at it in a "bad" way? Obviously perversion is in the eye of person looking at it but I would really want to think that no one on this forum thinks this way. From my many years on here and contributing in this thread, I have never thought it was unsafe to post a kid pic on here. Maybe a nude photo but a pic of some guy's niece smiling, it seems pretty acceptable imo.

Maybe Im overreacting or sth , sorry If I sound too careful , but with nothing but respect , I highly doubt ANYONE can have full control on who is patrolling on a forum , or what kind of person he is.

Once again , my .02

Once again I love this thread , and sorry If my opinion differs from everyone else's . just thought I d share since its a forum after all.

I totally get where you are coming from though. Of course things can get to that extreme point. For example, Benny Gold (street wear designer) posts his daughter up all the time on IG and in not trying to be a creep, she is a really cute kid....but cute as a kid....not like cute as in cute, if you know what I mean. I am not so much old but I do remember seeing this a lot as a kid growing up with my own parents in saying how gorgeous a daughter looks and what not. In these days, it is totally wrong to say that. What is even more odd about this story is I saw Benny Gold's kid at his store party and totally caller her the "cute kid" to people that I didn't know. That was awkward as hell.

Still......I don't think it would be a total issue here. People know what they are posting and so far it's been nothing but appropriate.

Sorry if I sound too strict or sth , but I really feel awkward when people are posting underage kids pics in here....

Dont know if its been discussed in the past , but cmon why post this in a forum with so many people you dont even know...

Nothing against ANYONE , or the last dude that posted , but I think it would be a good idea if it stopped....

Once again sorry if I sound strict or stupid or sth , just sharing my opinion on a GREAT thread .
In my opinion - this make no sense!

If there are people out there with malicious intent, they are going to find pics no matter where you post them. Why do I have to worry about a harmless and innocent picture because we are in a social forum??? Is a photography thread - for people that enjoy photography. I understand if you was to say posting your kid in the draya thread, but come on now.

Have a great one my dude - I can respect your opinion, but I cold heartily disagree ....

*edit* - if I got you right - why would you take your kid to the park, store, out period? how is posting a picture here is worst than taking your kid out to socialize with others???? Just don't understand the logic ....

To be honest I was on the fence about posting it because I don't normally post any pics I take of people on here, and it's someone else's daughter. Just thought the shot turned out great and figured I'd share. Pics removed now

To the guy who asked, I use a single focus point and generally keep it a little left or right of center. The early fuji cameras had notoriously bad af so it can be tough to keep things sharp at 1.4

Need alittle help, whats a good tripod for under $70? Only had mine for a few weeks and it was a piece of trash, easily broke.
BUMP! I was actually going to ask for recommendations on a tripod as well. I was looking into the MeFOTO Roadtrip but that thing is almost $200; I dont really mind the price because of the size, sturdiness, ball head mount, and it converts to a monopod. If others could chime in it would be greatly appreciated!

I have a mefoto - can't remember which one but it's the midrange one. Great tripod, better than the old cheapo Kodak one I used

I got the CF MeFOTO roadtrip, paid almost 400$ and don't regret one cent, joint is amazing

To touch on the topic of kids photography...I started off as a kids photographer and there are countless children photographers out there...it's a sub domain of photography just like wedding/fashion/street....there is nothing wrong with posting the photograph of a child.

Looks like the tripod is used. I'd suggest asking for pics of it and if there are any scratches or marks on it since the description isn't very descriptive

Granted there are some pedos out there but as long as a kid isn't in sexual suggested poses and scenarios then no harm no foul. I don't feel weird when looking at random children and the potential ill thoughts of some potential pedo never cross my mind.

I think dude kinda freaked out for no reason. I have seen some creepy stuff tho on photographic forums which I hope were innocent.

Let's not forget the countless of other stuff that is out there that displays kids whether it be catalogs, Baby Gap, billboard signs, etc. Unless you are physically putting your kid in a perverted pose or are showing evidence of where you live or what not so this potential pedos can come see you, then I really don't think you are doing anything wrong.

So I'm going to the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park on Saturday. I'm gonna be spending the whole day in the city so I wanna take my D3200. Unfortunately cameras where you can "remove the lens" are prohibited. I went to the same event last year and saw plenty of DSLRs around. I don't wanna take the risk of getting it confiscated though.

Have any of you tried to sneak cameras into events?

Not yet but best option is to call somebody and ask if you can.

Second option carry a common looking book bag and put your cam in there to kinda blend in.

I'd go option 1

I've done it this way with some concerts. Take off the lens and just have the body with you and sling it on your shoulder. Wear a jacket or hoodie and place it towards the back. It's dumb cause you can totally see it but depending on the angle, you can only see it on one side. Then just pocket your lens and once in, just take it all out and assemble.

Thanks fellas, but bags aren't allowed in either so a that isn't an option. I don't care about getting the camera in to take pics of the event, but I want it for my trip around the city before and after. I just don't have anywhere to keep it during the whole thing.

They say non-pro cameras are allowed but I wouldn't put it past security to consider a D3200 "pro". I've been trying to call but with little luck so far.

^^^Wait, this is one of those huge concert festivals right? I actually think they should have a holding area just for people that accidentally bring bags or whatever. I've been to Rock The Bells and they told me I couldn't bring my DSLR in and they just kept it for me and I got it on the way out. Could be the same for this concert but don't take my word for it.

Yeah it's sorta like that. Hopefully that's the case. I'll try calling again when I get out of my class.

Supposedly they upped security because there are some world leaders in attendance. Last year they had the UN Secretary General.
