The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

^^^Will do. Last resort is backing everything up on externals and just reformat my computer. I really hope it doesn't come to that but it'd be good to do just for piece of mind that things are backed up.

Yeah ... That's my train of thought .. I just don't know if I should do them or not .. I haven't used natural lighting in for ever ... I'm so used to strobes that I don't know if it will come out right ...

What are you guys using to shoot infant?

There's one called niketalk themes where the admin was supposed to change the theme every week or so but that died off pretty quickly lol

So would ya'll be willing to put together A group?... I'll make one if enough people are interested, mainly because i really do like photography and my first experiences with a DSLR were with a class in which we gave critique/ Ideas/ reviews of the photos also. So that community experience def helped me in improving from the beginning and i would love to have something similar while using flickr.

I'd be down but keeping it active would be the only challenge, since most people just post their stuff here.

Why don't you guys participate in the weekly instagram theme? I'm not sure if its weeklybot during the weekend but last was balloons and this weekend is on the road #WHPontheroad

If the RAM doesn't speed things up, hit my inbox, I'm a Mac guy and have some other tricks you could try

do tell, ever since I upgraded to mavericks my imac has been terrible, could definitely be faster smoother;i have 16gb of ram bought it in 2010-2011 and it every so often random parts of the screen will get weirdly pixelated, really hope my gpu isn't fried...I've got tons of 2.7k & 4k video along with raw files that eating space of my hds when I upgrade an ssd & a better gpu are on the wishlist...

The ram should help speed it up. If it is slow actually loading programs/photos/music/etc, it's probably the hard drive. If it is more so processing photos, like converting RAW to JPG for example then it can be the lack of ram. I assume you have an i5 in there, so it probably isnt the cpu.

Fong man those shots you posted on your ig on top of the GG. My goodness Idk how you got up there but that is soo dope.

Thanks dude. I am kind of messing up for even posting it cause I signed a waiver not to but I didn't tag the location nor any hashtags, so hopefully I should be good. Definitely a cool experience and something I wish everyone can see but this was a one shot deal with someone that knew someone.

I am not even supposed to post these up on here or any other site but I doubt the guy I went with is an NTer.

Amazing man. Not many people get to see sf from that view.
Yeap... I would probably pay for that hook up. I won't do it myself cause that's a serious crime regardless of you was just trying to take pictures. Let me know fong money ready. LoL

So I did my first photo shoot yesterday. I would have to admit I was nervous at first, but after a few shots I got really comfortable. These are just a few shots i liked. Still haven't had a chance to go through them all. I still have to adjust the straightness on some of these shots so any feedback on these would be appreciated negative or positive...

Equipment Used:

Canon T3i

24mm 1.4 II ( More like a 35mm since I have a crop body )

Model:

It used to be open to tours but ever since 9/11, they shut that whole thing down. Now it's done more on personal requests but you literally have to sign waivers never to put these photos on social media nor does the Golden Gate Bridge take responsibility if I say jump off the bridge at the top of the tower. Wish I could get others to go up there but just no deal. Honestly I wish I even had more lenses up there like a zoom cause it sort of sucks to only have 2 focal lengths.

Mr
fong has posted a few and i believe he also posted a tutorial but i can be wrong.

Just make sure you have a tripod of course and have spare steel wool. You might have to do a couple of tries to get a good photo and mostly cause of the spinning of the wool and not so much of the camera. Also shoot in dark areas. Any ambient light takes way from the sparks. And also do like 10-15 second exposures. Anything longer takes away from the fire. Shoot lower ISO and shoot closed aperture like at f/12-30.

My favorite ones. I haven't done one almost since then.
