The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

Bro......what in the world?! The out of focus photos that can be focused is insane. I swear if this is the trend photography is going, it's going to be even easier in the future.

One more video. At the end where he can touch where he wants depth of field is wild.

yea that's the second generation of the camera, i'm not sure why you'd use it; but it actually gives you more things to have to consider to setup an image...right now it is one of those things that has a lot of potential but isn't exactly clear what the use is, though when the get over the hurdle to get that light field technology to video...that will probably changed the game:

It looks like you based your level off of the grass and not the horizon of the earth.

I would have shot it like this. (please don't be offended of the edit, just wanted to give some critique and advice!. some people are super finicky about this type of thing.

No worries bro, learning from other people is the only way to get better, I embrace the criticism! Regarding my pic, I can't quite see what you guys are seeing :frown: Are you saying I should have taken it at an angle instead of straight on? I need to learn techniques

You should have taken it straight instead of an angle.

That camera is crazy though no lie... I cant imagine photography 10 years from now. Technology just keeps moving

Thanks! Just a Canon T3i with 18-55mm kit lens. :frown: A wise man told me it's not about the camera but the man behind it ;-) Gotta start somewhere.
Appreciate the input! Can you guys clarify what you mean by the horizon looking off?

Love the colors man.

Did you edit in photoshop? Ugh, I need to learn how to do that. Does it take away from the quality/sizing when you edit?

Sorry if that's a stupid question :/.

No such thing as a stupid question here, man!

I actually did it in Lightroom. I edited the rotation of the picture and constrained the crop.

You can however, do the same thing in photoshop. Transform/rotate and then crop.

Oh, and it does technically degrade the quality ever so slightly since you are cropping it. Is it noticeable? Not at all.

How do you keep your same image quality when you upload your photos to IG with out cropping majority of the picture

I READ SOMEWHERE THAT IG WAS GENERALLY MADE FOR IMAGES TAKEN WITH OUR PHONES. WHEN YOU POST A PIC, IG SHRINKS THE FILE SIZE MINIMALLY FROM A IMAGE TAKEN FROM YOUR PHONE. SINCE DSLR SIZES ARE SO MUCH BIGGER, THEY SHRINK THOSE MORE THEREFORE LOSING QUALITY.

BECAUSE I LOOK AT MY POSTED PICS VS. UNPOSTED AND THE QUALITY/CLARITY ARE ON 2 DIFFERENT FIELDS. IVE HAD PEOPLE LOOK AT BOTH AND THEY TELL ME "I CANT SEE A DIFFERENCE".... I JUST TELL THEM THEY HAVE BAD EYESIGHT BECAUSE THE QUALITY DIFFERENCE IS QUITE OBVIOUS.

I'm confused. Cropping the pic shouldn't affect the image quality much unless its a drastic crop (i.e. a landscape forest shot cropped down to a couple of trees)

Do you mean keep the aspect ratio? Like keeping it at a 4:3/16:9 (rectangular) instead of a square? You can use an app like square ready for that.

Back when I had one I'd post picks of my shoes and the image quality would change a lot it seemed more grainy and made me crop thr photo to the point you couldn't see the full image I was trying to capture

Is this with Android or iOS? I remember back when Instagram first released for Android, the app processed uploads different from iOS, leaving the Android to have worse quality. This was years ago though; I don't think they would have anymore problems now.

you can use instasize. allows you to post the entire image, but has the wide screen view so that there is white space above and below the photo. i just email or import my image to my phone and use instasize to post to ig. lol add me on ig josh_y0

When I make another I got you lol

Interesting. So Canon is releasing a ultra wide zoom lens that will try and compete with the Nikon 14-24mm but is already failing because it's not only a f/4 aperture while the Nikon is a f/2.8 but it will also cost around $3000 as well. The only good thing if any is that its a 11-24mm which will make it wider than the Nikon to get those crazy landscape shots.

But released today by Tamron is the new 15-30mm f/2.8 which is the price point zoom competing with the Nikon and Canon at a respectable price of $1199 and with image sta. Mind you this is a Tamron but it it's good, it could prevent others from getting the Nikon and Canon glass cause they are so expensive.

When I post pics on ig I try and take them wider than normal that way I can just post a cropped version on ig but can't show the entire image like I just did with my last pic.
