The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

vignetting is coming from using ND filter because its creeps into the field of view of the lens because it is wide angle. I don't know about the rings but i'm guessing that you're using a variable nd filter and probably a cheaper model

IDK... but i'll link it here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...utral_Density.html#pr-header-back-to-top-link

I'm unhappy with its limitations. The only lens i can use this filter on is my 16-35... So far the rings (uneven vignettes) appear when i shoot at its widest.

This was my first time playing with the lens and filter together. I will play with it some more before giving it up.

Not too familiar with TIffen products. I like B+W brand filters and this is the one that I am going to invest in http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Brand_B+W&ci=22490&N=4011740578+4294955264+4291599900 It has a lower profile than the Tiffen. I think the circular banding you are getting is from how the ND filter works and the quality of glass used in it.

Quick Opinion?

I took this pic 2 years ago when I went to India, bored so I decided to mess with Light room.

Feel like I over did it

I'm a beginner, so what do you guys recommend for someone like me? Photoshop, Lightroom? Basic flickr edits?

Thank you.

To me the building looks a bit slanted. I'd straighten that out. Not much you can do to this picture, maybe you can play around with the contrast of colors in this picture or even try to bring out the texture/details of the water. If you are using lightroom, try using the brush tool for the water (adjust contrast). These are things that come to mind, hopefully that would make a difference.

Is that brush how people get that matte look with almost no texture on the water of a lot of these recently posted bridge shots?

This one?

Yours definitely has a nice range . I actually like the harsh contrast to it. Looks nice man.

This is the look im referring to, does the water get like that from longer exposures/natural conditions? or can something be done in post?

Finally picked up Lightroom...and a new IPS monitor :smh: :D :smokin . I'm going to promise myself I wont buy new gear for a while. Where do you guys recommend I get some presets to play around with?

Regarding filters, you can buy step down rings and or step up rings so you can use it on different lenses.

That was not what i was referring to, haha. The water is like that due to the long exposure of the camera. The water is constantly moving and when shot for more than a second you will find the water looking still and "matte" like. What i meant was to bring out the texture, color, and reflection of the water by using a custom brush.

You can get the VSCO cam 00 presets for free on their site. I bought the Lighroom V6 presets from SLRLounge a few months ago

2morrowbegins2day.....dope bridge pic. Where is that?

It's the long exposure. Unfortunately I never shoot anything longer than 30 seconds cause I don't have a filter. If you really want that crystal clear water, invest in a ND filter. Unfortunately the good ones are not inexpensive.

Tried my hand in product photography on my Lunar IDs. Had a lot of issues with the background and making it look clean. Had to blur it like crazy but it looks over down. Didn't know how else to fix it but it looks fine for what it is.

Tried my hand at landscape and long exposure photography today. One problem, i used a variable ND filter for the first photo and it created weird rings and vignetting. It was shot at 22mm, why is this filter giving me this issue?

AWESOME SHOTS!!!!!!

Started watching some LR night time tutorials and figured I'd try to save this pic but no luck. Is it possible to fix the right side of the pic?

You could use the spot removal tool to clone the left part of the sky. I would take the picture from a different spot if possible. The two dock posts or whatever they are, are distracting.

Maybe I should start posting in here again but I suck :frown:
