The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

TimidTebow,

You should sell the camera ... Those shot suck ...

Pictures of a beanch, under a pier, busted light post, etc ... Just hit reset or quit while you are ahead.

You wanted a brutal honest opinion right?

Well, you have some good shots, just keep and eye on composition and subject like someone said 2 and 3 and the worst of the bunch followed by the two with notice signs. Everything else is pretty good, I don't have much to say ...
Lol I know they suck I appreciate the honest feedback. Im going to try to improve on composition and subject.

As far as the camera goes, Ive seen people shoot great stuff with older out of date cameras.......the best bet, is read up, learn about your camera and when the time comes upgrade to something more up to date. If money is an issues you can get a current entry level Nikon or Canon camera for $400-500.

Few more...

I copped my camera because I  wanted to experiment with  photography before I make a major financial commitment to a better up to date cam. I most likely will upgrade in the fall to something better. I like Canon so ill prob cop a newer Canon. For a  $800-$1200 once range what would you guys recommend for a newbie? Also is it worth it to cop better lenses for an old camera?

Why do you plan upgrading in the fall? I don't think 4 months is really enough time for someone to experiment with photography.

I've never used the xs, but it looks like it was the competitor to the nikon d3000/d3100 (which were great entry level camera). I'd say stick with body, learn it, and based on that identify what you want in a new camera -- not just buying a new camera because you think its going to be better.

In addition, work on new lenses as well (you look like you have a flexible budget, but you can find some nice lenses new and cheap). Keep messing with the kit you have on your xs to get a feel of what you like focus angle wise (wide shots, close up, etc), and then grab a cheap prime that fits it.

Dat feel when your sister deletes ALL your shots while you're on vacation. Feels kinda like when she erased my save file for Pokemon Blue Version lol.

I knew I should've just bought multiple SD cards instead...

Sorry to hear that, but more importantly, someone erased my Pokemon Stadium data before. I had my pokemon from my Red version stored there. Was super pissed.

How Sway?

Me?

My SD card was filled up so I asked my sister to dump my files onto her Macbook. That was fine until I filled up the SD card again and instead of copying the new files to the existing folder she chose to replace the folder and that deleted all the previous pics.

I brought my external HD but I forgot that since I'm a PC guy and she's Mac that the formatting isn't compatible. I should've just brought my own laptop along or invested in more SDs. Pretty bad moves on my part, but c'est la vie I suppose. You live and you learn.

Invest in lenses....bodies change and there is always a new one out. good lenses could last you for years. As for what to purchase in that price range, it really depends on your necessity for bells and whistles.

Does anyone shoot fine, or does everyone shoot raw?

Here's a few shots over a few months can I get some feedback on these and how would you shoot them

Never thought I'd see the day where I develop my own film. Can't even believe that it's that easy to develop color / C-41 process. Still have yet to scan it though, so well see how it goes. Ahhh, I'm too excited.

So dope man still have a ton of undeveloped film and unused film in the fridge lol someday I'll get to it...

Recently got some film negatives that my dad took in Disneyland before I was born, took a photo with my camera and editied them. Digitalrev did this a few years back when I wasn't shooting film but since I am more now a days, decided to try it.

Here are some before images.

After editing them to my liking but keeping keeping some things left alone.

Going to start doing this to a lot of negatives I have. More photos on the blog.
