Thanks ksteezy, gotta admit i'm a fan of your pics, esp the ones of your trip to The Statue Of Liberty

Looks like I will finally be picking up and staying with a camera, I will be out getting a Canon G11 if Nikon doesnt bring something out to compete with it byyears end. Lurked and purchase d40 but sold it since i didnt really get into and camera was too bulky for me. Hopefully I learn how to shoot like Santi didwith that G10 and hope to contribute soon to the thread. With that being said Ill lurk until it has been copped.

Anyone got tips for shooting in the cold? Specifically safely transferring camera from outside to inside temperatures?
I'll be shooting around 0 degree Celsius to -6

In my opinion, these two pictures essentially sum up the kind of world we live in...

A boy suffering from malnutrition is cradled in the arms of his mother at a camp for Internally Displaced People (IDP) on the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia on July 11, 2009. More than 200,000 people had been displaced in the previous two months, while hundreds of civilians were believed to have been killed and wounded, according to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. In an effort to escape the fighting, thousands of families relocated to refugee camps outside the city where they faced extremely harsh living conditions. (MOHAMED DAHIR/AFP/Getty Images)

Belgian milk producers pour about 3 million liters (793,000 gallons) of milk onto a field near the Belgian city of Ciney September 16, 2009 in protest over a growing industrial dispute over low prices. Support is growing among European Union member states for a new regulatory set-up for milk farmers struggling with depressed prices, France's agriculture minister, Michel Barnier, said on Tuesday. Not pictured my Bogen-manfrotto tripod and ball head...

playing both teams there buddy??....lol..you have a great line-up bro, keep at it.

I gotta say ive had horrible luck with nikon P&S, however ive had about 3 Canon and they have been very reliable, i think i had my last one for like 4years.

as far gear goes, I have 2 bodies a 40d and a 5dmkII, I have a siggy 10mm fisheye, siggy 10-20mm UWA, canon 35L, Canon 24-70L, 1 speedlight 580exII and set ofPW's, then i have my humble home studio which i love.

Once you get wrapped up in photography, you find yourself spending alot of money, i never in my life thought photography would be so expensive and now iunderstand why a photographer would charge 2k-15k to photograph a wedding.

^^ yeap, I know what you mean. Nikon P&S suck...so i went with the Canon...(not a high end, P&S but takes decent enough pictures) I just use this forquick snaps or when hanging out at the bars/clubs when i cant carry my DSLR. I wish i copped a better one though.
