voigtlander makes decent m-mount glass, at a fraction of the cost...all i know of rangefinders is that since you don't see through the lens there is a lot more uncertainty especially if you shoot wider than the frame that the rangefinder shows....i've read that some of these type cameras have different frame lines inside the viewfinder, is that true for this one? can you change this depending on the lens?

Thanks! Correct, you don't see through the lens. You see straight through that little window. They come in different magnifications for different lens lengths. And yes, usually, at least with the newer Leicas, they are fitted for 3 lens lengths. That little lever on the right can change your frame lines. Also, whatever lens you put on changes it automatically too. I think there's 35mm, 50mm, and 90.

i see, after learning a little bit about rangefinder style cameras, the form factor of most mirrorless cameras seems frustratingly weird, like why have a hump for a mirror pentaprism when there is no mirror?! i think the challenge that rangefinders offer of having to "see" the picture before you take it and being able to see what is moving both inside & outside the frame is probably a helps a bunch with framing & anticipation; i imagine it being a pretty different experience than using most cameras

Can you guys school me on those Leicas? Not that I'd buy one, but I see a lot of people using those over the traditional DSLRs and stuff.

through the years many a great photographer had used one of their cameras so they are a historic camera maker, they are german made & expensive, and as expensive as the bodies are the lenses are even MORE expensive but they are famous for being really well crafted & sharp wide open, all manual no autofocus (there are some model that do have AF though)...given the prices involved there i bit of a status symbol quality associated with them but people that have them seem to love them

I have to deliver pictures to clients and it's super clean looking and easy to use. Been using it for about a year now and it's pretty awesome. Thought I'd suggest it, if you haven't heard of it or if you need something like that.

I used PASS for about a year. It is a great service and it did bring in a few extra bucks but I didn't shoot enough clients to justify keeping it. Thinking about shooting couples and weddings again now that I have a little more free time.

I pixieset and like it a lot. Makes sending pics to clients easier. Wish it was cheaper though.

I was looking at a few used lenses to purchase and some say they have a few spots of fungus and light internal dust. Will this affect photo quality and can fungus get worse or be fixed? The lens is a Tamron 90mm since I'm looking for a decent lens to shoot macro with on my d5100. Any input is appreciated.

usually dust spots don't affect image quality (could be more problematic at smaller apertures sometimes, f8-11 and up), but that can depend on the size and location of the spots. fungus can definitely get worse, it can be Cleaned, Lubed, Adjusted (or CLA'd) but i think the cost can vary wildly depending on the lens and the person doing the service...unless you getting it for an outrageous low it prolly isn't going to be worth the hassle

speaking of macro i recently tried to do get a some macros of snowflakes, tried to do it handheld, super difficult, definitely need a tripod for this sort of thing...
