This is really the only thread on any messageboard that I check this frequently, and post on, for that matter. I've gotten a lot of great photographyadvice from this thread, and it's been encouraging to see so many other people share the same passion and keep me on my toes. I've been shooting forover 15 years now, from film to now digital. Definitely appreciated, all around. Here's a shot I took in San Francisco last weekend.

Another question I'd like to ask: Where do you guys buy your lenses?

^^ I like that picture

however a few things that I think could be better (Of course this is my opinion and taste)

You can fix the horizon .. it's tilted - of course to some this might be cool as it might somehow show the feel of the water, but for me is stilldistracting ..

You could of have focus on the object closes to you instead of the deck which is un interesting ... this might of have been difficult since you might of havebeen to close to focus on that object and the sun might of have not let you focus on the mountains so hence you focus on the floor .. stepping back or evenclosing the lens which might of have been open all the way would of have gave you a overall better focus picture while still giving you the bokeh for the bg....

i love this thread i am trying to get into photography just need to save up some money for a camera keep up the good work guys

Yo Rap, for the pic of your friend that you posted, how did you scale it to that size? 1500px × 1000px (scaled to 750px ×500px)

I normally just use the "medium" size from flickr, but that seems to small, and "Original" is too big. Do you change the url somehow?

Hey guys,

kick you propose that for a nice quick assignment before the holidays we do something seasonal .. I think something to show the Xmas or new years is in order..

I think for the most part we all have a Xmas tree in our cities .. I think for the 1st assignment we should all go out and find our Xmas tree and snap itanyway you want .. if you don't have one photograph yours it doesn't matter ..

BTW, it doesn't have to be a tree we can come up with other stuff as long as it stay in line with the holidays .. lights/banners/tree/decorations etc .. Ijust think the tree would be something nice as everyone could see what other cities do and how it compares ... of course you can put your spin of the photo ..

What do you guys think?

i edit the HTML. I resize my pics to 1500x1000 and just alter the size through HTML. That's how I manage to retain the exif in my pics, whichI'm sure some people appreciate. The original size that you upload to flickr is the one that has the exif. Just grab the html code below the pic and changethe dimensions.

Thanks. Just tried it and it worked. Only drawback is that You have to know the proper resolution to keep the aspect ratio. I just opened up PSand checked...

White Balance. I know it's difficult to get the proper white balance with street lights, but You can easily correct it in Photoshop.
