THE OFFICIAL CURREN$Y THREAD!!! Vol. The Jet Lounge

So I never liked currency at all...but I got high and listened to some of this latest pilot talk and man...have I really been missing out on this for this long :smh:

In comparison to Pilot Talk's I and II, III does not live up to the lofty namesake of Pilot Talk. I cannot help but to feel like PTIII is a mixture of throwaway tracks and bonus cuts from previous albums and mixtapes over the past five years or so.

Not only are there no standout tracks, every song, sonically, sounds the same; bland, boring and generic. Spitta sounds underwhelming at best.

It pains me to say that because Curren$y is by far and away my favorite rapper of all time, but I just cannot rock with this album. I'll give it a few more spins and hopefully some tracks will grow on me, though after a nearly two years wait—he first announced the album back in 2013—I had much higher expectations from him.

Spitta needs to be in the next Fast and the Furious movie
yes if there is another Fast film spitta would make a good cameo but most people dont know who he is or heard of his music....i would love to see Fast go a total different way like tokyo drift did let vin have small part in next bring in new generation of family

Same story about how I became a fan. Never checked for him during the YM era. Kept seeing his name then listened to PT1. Wasn't feeling it AT ALL. Coincidentally started smoking around 2010 then gave it another listen. Roasted came on then it was a wrap.

I look back on the concert and realized I was rapping verses for every song he did  I think that might be my last Spitta concert but I'll always check for him. Every project has at least one gem that gets added to the playlist.

I love the spitta thread.....I remember the first time I heard spitta was a smoke session my coworker had back in 2011 (btw Spitta's Best Year) anyway at the time I didn't realize I was listening to pilot talk & pilot talk II. So we highed fuggin roasted and the track with the hook King Kong ain't got **** on me was on and the way he flowed over that mezmorizing beat >>>>> the delivery captured me as a new fan then the next track with snoop dogg was psychedelic AF my high was so mellowed out[emoji]128529[/emoji][emoji]128529[/emoji][emoji]128529[/emoji] felt like was sitting in a purple suede interiored car. A track with mos def played liked the production smooth, I heard Devin the dude then he switched to pt2 and the intro track sheesh bars on bars, Famous, OG with a dude called fiend, anyways I left the session impressed af.....verde terrace dropped two weeks later and a jet was hooked for life....looked him up on iTunes and bought everything from him at the time. Weekend At Burnies & Covert Coup are my soul albums they changed my life honestly I listen to them daily a summer vibes 365 days always. #JetsGO, Still, She Don't Want A Man, This Is The Life, Televised, Money Machine,Whats What, On G's & Get Paid all my jernts....sorry for my long story but a fan is forever thankful of Spitta since way back. To Good Times and more Jet Life fam

Can't really be a culture vulture if the majority of the music you make is directly influenced by where you were born and raised. A culture vulture would be someone who seemingly has a passing interest in rap/hip hop yet takes full advantage of the success it brings. You could classify Iggy as a culture vulture, since she is carefully crafted for the radio, complete with T.I., Young Dro, Kuntry Kang, B.o.B., Trae, and Mac Boney all writing her rhymes. Culture vulture is also the "swag"/"fleek"/"turnup" of 2015.
Brah I don't know if you know what your talking about. Nobody in H town has bleach blonde cornrows wears neon colored stocking caps and does silly ish for attention. Homie is an actor who puts out pathetic music. His fans have never listened to dope hip hop if they think that ish the Wave. Hate to break it to you little homie that isn't hip hop.

And I never once mentioned at all how he looks, try reading that again, I specifically music a good amount of his music. "Little homie" LOL I'm damn near 30. You sound like one of those dated rap elitists waiting on Vinnie Paz to drop a classic. You can backtrack some of Riff Raff's music and clearly see that Houston influence there. If you don't, then I'm pretty sure you're the one who doesn't know hip hop, and still won't know come next month when you're Nae-Naeing at your prom.

Anyway, just finished listening to this, and it'll get plenty of spins. It's pretty mellow with just enough standout tracks to change things up. Froze, 560 SL, Audio Dope 5, Brief Case, All I Know & Alert are all standouts for me. Definitely no bad songs at all on here, but there are some I probably wouldn't constantly play.

I'm closing in on 30 also man I don't know what that has to do with it. How you gonna claim Im headed to my prom and say I'm a fan of Jedi mind tricks in the same paragraph very oxymoronic man. Bro I lived in Houston for a year devin the dude, Z-ro, Trae and boss Hoggs all have a strong following out there where as Riff raff is seen as a joke that entertains college kids. The college kids out there love him for sure Cuz he epitomizes a big time party guy.

I defintely see why you have an infatuation with him Judging by your avatar you enjoy fake ****. Riff raff is theater just like wrestling.

I'm done with the back and forth you like him I don't and I can't figure out why his fanbase is constantly growing.

Another Spitta show in Chicago that I won't be able to catch. Thankfully it seems like he's in the city a few times a year, maybe next time. I'm bummed low key

I was there for all those eras of spitta. The 08-09 era takes me back. I don't know what he was smoking around 2012-2013 but that's is easily the best music Curren$y was putting out. "Livin" from the Here EP is my theme song. I'm the proud owner of every album and mixtape posted above. +1 hennessy hennessy

Damn so much music :wow:

So I like opening credits, all I know, get down, and pot jar. Those are my favs from the tape. Maybe the one w/ riff raff too but he just so trash he kinda ruined be song

Based on those songs, any reccomendations for past works?

Curren$y and AZ are my two favorite rap artists. I'm not sure I can pick one over the other. I'm ashamed to admit that I've never listened to any of 2008 mixtapes. Going to have to get on that. I own everything else though and will be posting some more album reviews and lists of favorite tracks in here later today or tomorrow.

If I don't get a compact disc of Pilot Talk III I'm gonna freak the **** out

this is dope.. it may not have standouts of 1 or 2 but its more cohesive than those from a production standpoint.

pt 1 didn't age so well.

pt 2 will always be my fav though - airborne aquarium, famous, A Gee, the joint with dom, hold on etc

this has some really dope songs though

Nice list at hennessy hennessy . Definitely missing a few tapes though. Welcome to the winners circle, life at 30,000 feet, super techmo bowl, etc. Cool to see people getting more into spitta. Crazy to see how much bigger dudes fan base has grown. Cool to see the homie getting a lil bit more recognition. Nobody around me never could get into him back then.
