What Happened to Nike SB ???

As of lately, rather for a long time now, Nike SB has steadily been rolling downhill. And I feel like there needs to be a thread dedicated to Nike Sb as awhole so that MAYBE Nike SB might find its way back onto the map.

I honestly feel like the days of the SB are over, most notably the dunk. In the beginning Nike was looking to skateboard companies, and skate shops forcollaborations and ideas. What ever happened to that? Simple & clean color schemes, with premium materials, and occasionally some eye catching designs orartwork.

Now I'm not gonna lie, limited availability does play a role here. Many avid shoe collectors, sneakerheads, or whatever you want to call it enjoy theexclusiveness of the shoe. It is pleasing to know that you have a have a pair of shoes that are highly sought after, in which most are unaware of, or have noway of obtainning unless they are as dedicated as you or are willing to cough up major bread. And I know many will argue that SB's are for skating, butmany who skate also collect and buy sought after shoes.

I would just like to have a topic for open discussion in regards to what other ppl's feelings and opinions on the matter.

With that being said I've chosen some of my favorites of all time just so we can all see where Nike SB was, and how it compares to today's market.

design teams change nike pulls focus from one product line to another and last but not least no more fat tongue smh...

I've bought a few pairs this year myself. Seems like the better colorways are few and far between these days. I'll add a couple I like as well:

dunk_mid301-1-570x427.jpg

you had these, but the neon laces make a big difference IMO
nike-sb-dunk-low-blue-lobster-02.jpg

there was also a Royal Blue/Black colorway that was nice and basic.
and a few others, Red Lobsters, Mr. and MS. Pac-man, Heinekens, New Castles....
They seem to cater to people who don't mind rocking goofy looking shoes sometimes.

Just like JB, they fell off hard. Colorways are terrible. No collabos. No more stuffed tongues. Sb died after the black box era and even the black boxweren't that great.

if nike SB were to release the supreme highs today without the supreme name, people would be griping about how nike goin downhill puttin stupid gold stars onthe shoes. chocolates are sought after mostly cause they're rare. paul brown highs sat on the shelves back then and they would probably do the same today(i like those btw). the whole nike SB went downhill argument isn't completely true imo - a whole bunch of the recent nike SB blazers have been super nice -there's been some clean sb dunks released but not recognized because people follow the hype - if anything, the hype for SB went downhill.

I wouldn't say Nike SB fell off, but the SB Dunks have fumbled out the game. There colorways and new designs are terrible. i still rock SB Blazers all day.Blazers>>Dunks

qft, hype just died off, and blazers are good. can't say much more than this.

also, fat tongues disappeared., which is why people aren't copping the latest few dunks. i guarantee if those orange un-hemps had dropped three-four yearsago with fat tongues, we'd be seeing twenty page threads here...

NIKE SB IS WACKED.

Sandy Bodecker came and went...so did the great schemes and collaborations.
whoever runs the Nike SB department nowadays needs to get fired. they suck!

THIS.

majority of people who wear SBs now a days are these lik 14 yr old hypebeast..... they care what the name is attached too, not how it looks.... Nike SB hasdropped some nice stuff in the past couple of months, want a gauge of how it works? Gucci SBs FLEW.....i wonder why..

1. They became too afraid to take risks early on, the simple colorways didn't sell so well (Vampires and 2nd and 3rd line SB's).

2. Then they took too much of a risk. You can only reinvent the wheel (Dunk) so many times, and it seems like they've run out of heat on the SB side ofthings.

3. They need to get back to the basic two-tone shoes (ala the simple Dunk thread) and make them like pre-2003 dunks with some quality. Then add some zoom air.

gucci SB's flew cause the release never happened originally though. when they first surfaced some years back even before they were dubbed gucci, ppl wantedthem. And those paul browns regardless are one of the cleanest color schemes. And i think nike could still take some risks, with collabs and stuff just knowwho your dealing with, not every company is the same, some would come correct and some wont because some know whats up with the shoe game and some don't.Nike can't get desperate and just look to any brand or company for a collab. U know Supreme will come correct, Stussy will come correct, Diamond SupplyCo., Chocolate came correct, I would let Active get on something, maybe Krew, Obey, the way that unkle design was executed was ridiculous, idk but dosomething.

Mmmm well those stefan janoski sig's r killing!!! Im digging those bruins both shoes r simple clean n go good with a pair of fitted jeans lol

I for one would love to see the SB line revamped or for them to retro stuff I miss the good days of NSB

In my opinion, they make too many gimmick shoes now instead of focusing on good colorways. You want a shoe that has the sound of a bird chirping inside thetongue? Word?

The sad truth that nobody here wants to admit is this shoe was made popular by all of you hypebeast, who just happen to be a very fickle breed. You don'thave to look any further than the the yearly Hypebeast picture to see how you hopped off of this shoe and moved on to Vans and then on to Supras. For the verysmall percentage of people who happened to wear SB's before the sheep came through the floodgates and continue to still wear them, nothing has reallychanged.

simple colorways have been replaced for silly gimmicks and plus they haven't done anything innovative in the past two series.

its just that too many kixheads are too concerned with the resale value of a potential Sb (even if they only plan to wear em) that they wouldn't copp acertain sb if it doesn't get hyped up. the Brainwreck SB dunk by Todd Bratrud was nice but it didnt fly off the shelves since it wasn't hyped as muchas guccis. I just wanna say that i think many shoe !@%$+! would much rather wear kix with blingage rather than what they personally think is nice.

I'm diggin those Paul browns...never was a huge fan of SB's but it does seem like they've been a bit off and on with their consistency. The NorthenLight's went hard though for a somewhat recent release, and those ICE things are CREAM..
