Oh I get it...
You salty cause you broke, living that boring life where everyday's the same and Lil B making moves in the industry before he's 22?

I'm a 21 year old college student, my life is anything but boring. If you spent the same amount of time outside your 1 bedroom apartment as it did to find that Justin Bieber gif maybe you wouldn't be stuck in your room by yourself every night trolling about a dude that got famous for trolling. But I mean, if that's what you gotta to do pass time when you have no friends, I won't hate on it.

...
They are either...
A) mentally slow

B) think anything that the rest of the internet hypes up sounds good

C) part of some joke that started on a forum that wanted to see if co-signs and internet promotion could blow up ANYONE

D) some combination of all of the above

This !+%* really is the Twilight Zone in here.
Why can't I just like what I like without something being wrong with me? I'm human just like you. Just because I like something that you think is bad doesnt mean I have problems.

No need to go back and forth about your horrible assumptions.

You still salty, you still broke, and Lil B is still winning

We don't hate here buddy.

Unbiased review.

I first heard of Lil B's solo stuff about a year ago. Tracks like 'Wonton Soup' and 'Look Like Jesus' had me confused. People really liked this stuff? Lyrically, he wasn't saying anything. But I could look past that because there are plenty of other popular rappers out there with equally asinine raps. Flow-wise, nothings changed since his Pack days. Dude refuses to stay on beat and would pause with no warning in the middle of tracks. The beats were pretty good for the most part but I found it hard to listen to all that gibberish mixed in with it. I wrote him off and stopped paying attention.

A few months back, I came across him again. His buzz on the internet hadn't died down but grew larger. Again, my curiosity got the best of me and I checked out his newest tracks. Again, I left unimpressed.

Then Clams Casino's mixtape dropped last month and every beat was a banger. I was surprised to find out he produced a lot of stuff for Lil B so I searched out the actual versions of the instrumentals. Found that I actually liked a couple tracks like "I'm God".

Fast forward to the newest album. I remember seeing the album art and being impressed by the thoughtfulness behind it. The title was also intriguing. Obviously done for attention but if he was really trying to make a statement about homophobia in the hiphop community, I was going to give it a listen to see what he had to say. Then he dropped the album on Facebook for free. I had no reason not to give it a listen; to at least give it a try before writing him off once again.

And what did I find?

A solid album. This is NOT the best album, let alone rap album, of the year like some in here would like you to believe
laugh.gif
. It's not even the best rap album of the week (Shabazz Palaces). What it is is an album that showcases the serious side of Lil B. I was surprised there weren't any of those Justin Beiber, Wonton Soup, Woo-woo swag songs but were all pretty positive tracks discussing the troubles of society at large. Problem is, the stuff he's decrying is nothing new and if you've been paying attention in life you should have already known everything he was talking about. I don't buy the he's a "deep" rapper. He's a positive rapper that doesn't promote violence and hate (which is great) but he's not saying anything in a way that's interesting. He's still an incredibly mediocre/bad rapper with awkward flow and an awe-inspiring knack for dumbing down his rhymes (intentional or not.) With that being said, this record is still very listenable. The major shining point of this record are the beats. My GOD. I have nothing but good things to say about the production. Some of the sampling is straight genius (Spirited Away, Slowdive, Goo-Goo Dolls.) The tracks "I Hate Myself", "Gon Be Okay", and "Game" are just damn good songs.

All in all, I think this is his best work that I've heard and I can see why his fans are excited about it. If he keeps making albums like this and keeps progressing on his rapping, maybe those that hate/take rap way too seriously will start listening.

Agree 100%, especially regarding the production. Some of his sillier stuff does bang though.

You had specific examples straight from the vid, I thought you were trying to be funny at first, writing a dissertation of a video that's posted on the same page

I'm kinda confused, how can you call the album solid and still say Lil B is incredibly mediocre. I'm not tryna get on your case but I have never seen a mediocre rapper make a decent album let alone "solid".

The album as a whole is solid. Good subject matter, incredible beats, and what I see as a positive step in the right direction. I still think he can do a LOT of improving. His flow is still pretty bad (but definitely not the worst I've heard from him.) He struggles to ride the beat sometimes. Maybe it's intentional. Maybe it's not. Also a lot of his raps are really simplistic and sometimes they don't even make sense. Again, it's not the worst I've heard from him. That's why I call him a mediocre (average, moderate) rapper with a decent/solid album.
