don't really have that option at this point...no need for a 2 br, it's also out of my price range right now in the area I was looking
 
Question about those enclosed tv stands like the one posted above..

I just recently got one, and I put my PS4, cable box, cable modem, and Macbook pro in it. My PS4 is running OD hot with the fan on max when I use it while its enclosed in the stand. It sounded like someone was vacuuming down the hall, as opposed to when it was in the open, no sound at all and minimal heat.

Same goes for my cable box. Its hot to touch if I leave it on all day. Is there any way around this? Is it bad for the electronics?
 
Cut out an opening in the back, and attach black mesh or something similar to allow for better breathing.

If you don't care at all about aesthetics, just cut out an opening and leave it as is.
 
Usually there are openings in the back to accomodate the cables, do you have all of those opened up? Otherwise that's pretty much an incubator at that point, not good.

Well you will do what you must bro, I went through it and pulled the trigger on a 125k 1BR apt, I love my pad, we've done good work to it but if you ask me I made a mistake by not saving up a bit more for DP on a 2BR instead....a bachelor doesn't need to "own" a place, you've yet to figure out life at that point or where you wanna end up, you not committed to a woman, no need to commit to a long term 20-30 year mortgage...it seems you are looking to pursue something serious with the GF with that in mind I would advice you to not jump into a 1BR even more...once you live with your girl and things go in a positive direction is only a matter of time before you start planning for a family, with all that in mind, getting a 1 BR apt is being short-sighted, I'm not passing judgement on you bro, just giving you perspective from someone who quite possibly was in your same situation about 5 years ago.

Definitely care about aesthetics tho. My old stand was an open one and behind it was a wire jungle. It drove me crazy while I was watching tv.

I figure alot of ppl have a closed setup and have dealt with such before.

Nothing wrong with a junior 1 bedroom.

There's always going to be someone entering the market with a fairly small budget, and the first thing they're going to look at is a junior 1 bedroom. In fact, they might be the easiest thing to sell since there's usually only 1 decision maker.

With a 2 bedroom, you're going to have a young family with a picky wife who has champagne taste on a beer budget aka the worst kind of person to deal with. Not to mention, with a junior 1 bedroom you can always rent it out if you decide to upgrade.

The thing I never understood were the people who buy huge 1 bedrooms which are creeping into 2 bedroom territory in terms of pricing. Those are always the hardest sell.

My living room. Only thing I really need to add in here is a floor lamp and a book case. Starting to really like that wood and steel pipe one that was posted in here, but looks like you'll have to drill holes in the floor for it. Don't want to do that

I certainly see your point, and actually agree. I think more so than anything this apt will be a big test and step for me personally. It'll be the first time I live on my own, and if/when my gf moves in, it'll be the a confirmation of the future with her. It's also about being independent. It's always been my goal to have my own place, so it's more so a benchmark of where I am in life. I understand your point and I think / hope sooner rather than later I will upgrade to something much bigger.

I'm fortunate to have a supporting mother who has guided me through the process, I'm also fortunate to be in a position with my career where I'm making a solid salary and coming close (meeting on monday) to a large promotion.

So like I said, it's a symbol of growth and reaching a point in my life I always aspired to get to. While it will be difficult and a challenge, I welcome it.

Only thing about that is that one chair will be right in front of the fireplace blocking the view of it. Any other ideas?

Holy crap :wow:, what a change (for the better)! Looks great, but personally I wouldn't have picked out a red couch.

I was looking at a black sectional but would have ran me over 3k. The couches were free and the leather is in great condition considering how long my parents had it so why not :lol:. Actually really like them now, plus they go well with the red in my painting
