opinion on Ikea bedframe?
I've had a queen size Ikea "Malm" bed for the past ~7 years. I finally got a new bed frame when I moved recently just because I wanted something different, but that thing has been through at least 6 moves (taking apart/putting back together) and has seen lots of action... Never had an issue with its durability.

Ikea clearly doesn't have the absolute best quality stuff around, but making a $180 bed frame last for 7+ years and counting is pretty good to me.

Had an Ikea bedframe for 4 years (Engan model, now discontinued). If I hadn't moved out of state I'd probably still use it. Solid quality for the price. Suggested for anyone renting for a couple years.

Never used Ikea mattresses, but SleepLikeTheDead.com ranks their foam/latex mattresses surprisingly high.

I too had the Malm Queen bed and the Ikea mattress for about 4 years. Wish I would have kept it as now I need to get something for my guest room.

That poang chair is SUPER comfy. I bought the canvas version, but no the foot rest.
I had the leather version. Guests liked sitting there than they would my couch, lol I know they have a "rocker" version now, but the regular version of the POÄNG is good enough, IMO.

I've only sat in mine once so I can't even remember lol. Same exact configuration as the pic. I have of it somewhere in this thread.

Just getting settled here in Houston (thanks to Steebie J for helping me in my apartment search), and I'm beginning to look at furniture. So far I've been living off of an air mattress from Target (very highly recommended BTW) and a desk and chair from Ikea.

I was planning to get my furnishings started at Ikea for <$2000. That would cover:
-Mattress
-Bedframe
-Dresser
-Nightstand
-Couch
-Ottoman/ Coffee Table

But the more I think, I may just splurge. I've also been talking to some friends and co-workers who are giving me guff for being such an Ikea loyalist. I normally wouldn't care, but I did start looking elsewhere for furniture and I fell in love with the Emmerson Reclaimed Pine set (West Elm) for my bedroom. I love the style and it would fit my place perfectly. This would include the bed frame, headboard, dresser and nightstand.

The downside is that all three items are already close to $3k. Does anyone know of similar styles from other (by other I mean cheaper) companies/furniture stores? If these items are reasonably priced for the style/quality, then I guess I'll just bite the bullet, but I'd hate to just go into it without doing my due diligence and looking for cheaper alternatives.

Thanks in advance.
Welcome to Houston. My opinion is to spend money on things you're more than likely to keep for a good amount of time. As an example, you're probably better off spending the $2/3k on that bedroom set you love rather than spending $2k on your entire place and end up at the end of your curb for the garbage man or given away to Goodwill in a few years because while it serves its purpose, Ikea isn't exactly know for their quality.

I made a big "art" piece buy this week.

So my favorite movie of all time is Good Will Hunting. I was able to buy the script which was autographed by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (who wrote the film and won an Oscar for the screen play). I'm getting a custom made shadowbox to put it in.

Really excited for that.
That's huge congrats , I always shed a tear watching that movie .

Bruhs this had me hypnotized in magnolia , I'll probably get it before the end of the year
Beautiful equipment.

Not an audiophile, but from what I've been told, Martin Logan speakers aren't necessarily the best if you listen to a lot of rap/rock etc. Either way, still awesome looking. My condolences to your wallet if you buy that setup, too.

Just a little tidbit to those that are going to buy or interested in Tempurpedic Mattresses or similar type mattresses. Do yourself a favor and get a Dr's note for your "bad back" and you need it for the pain. It will help you with NO TAX. I've purchased 3 mattresses in the past 8 years and the Dr.'s note does the trick. Additionally I believe it works with exercise equipment. You know, doc says you need an elliptical because of your "bad back." Removes the additional money you don't have to spend.

Additionally, since Tempurpedic is price protected, there are ways to make up for cost. Such as receiving "free" Tempurpedic pillows that are like $150 per pillow, mattress covers, free deliver etc. Granted I bought 2  Tempurpedics at once, but I received 8 Tempurpedic "free pillows," 2 mattress covers, free delivery, and 5 years no interests.

Hope this helps someone that's considering purchasing a new mattress.

Went back there to get a quote on everything and was 13k still on the fence about it.

That's mucho dinero, Daddy lol. One thing I ask myself is if I had to sell it, how hard would it be? And if so, will I be taking it in the pants? While awesome, that's a $13k investment you're probably going to have to absorb entirely. Such a small niche, it may be get hard to get rid of. Or if you did sell, it would probably be at a drastically reduced price. Just my humble opinion, but something to think about.

This ain't something u resell it's something that'll last decades. There's still mcintosh amps and audio equipment running strong from the late 70's . But that price is hard to swallow ,paws , and I've been a bose man for the last 7 years so I'm just ready to try something new. And yes I've messed with Sonos but I want to see what' else they have outside the wifi speakers

Quality audio equipment will definitely last decades, but $13k is a little much unless you just have it like that.

I'm using various hand-me-down stuff that my parents had back in the day - Yamaha RX-v670 receiver from the early-mid 90s, Technics turntable and Pinnacle speakers from the early 80s. Suits my needs perfectly fine and still sounds great, IMO.

what wall items y'all got in ya bedrooms?
im tired of staring at a blank wall every night
anything sexy for the wall?

I'm 36 and have always had a car payment since I was 18. I guess I'm always buying new things and selling the old. Last time I paid $5k plus for a stereo was in like 2000. I move way too much and grow tired of stuff too quick, so I tend to steer clear of that stuff. Either way, awesome looking stuff. Just too rich for my blood. I have too many other expenses such as $7k on season tickets not counting the travel so i try not to get too crazy with other stuff especially since shoes burn a hole in our pockets already lol. Good luck to you if you get it. I'd definitely be envious.

Yeah still gotta talk myself into it. But seeing as all my audio and visuals are digital now I can do without some of the parts in the pic. I think IMA get the McIntosh mcaire for now and see how that holds me for a few .

Bro, did you even buy Uncle Sam a drink before bending him over like that? So Un-American.

Only kidding, don't take that seriously. Save money any way you can, friends.

That's not exactly something to be proud of.
