That is all.
Explain please because I am sure that what I said might have rubbed you the wrong way. Don't just make baseless statements.

You honestly don't believe if CERTAIN black females read this they won't use it as justification to stay the way they are?

Or maybe it was the comment that I said black women are the most overweight female creature out there. I shouldn't state facts?

Why not say certain "women". Or "obese/overweight" women? Why must black women be your target?
But to top it off with morbid generalizations?
To say that black women are the most overweight in the WORLD...I'm sorry that just doesn't hold any sort of water.

37% of African-American women are obese; 33% of Mexican-American Women are obese; 24% of Caucasian women are obese

Morbid? yes, false? no People on NT often confuse critical statements with racist ones. Not only is he black, if he weren't I(another black person) would be perfectly alright with him making those comments.

African-American does not equal the world.

No, but its a pretty accurate barometer

There are about 300million people in the US give or take, and about 5.6 or 5.7 BILLION people in the rest of the world, and this is a good barometer. What are you thinking?
I'm thinking you haven't found anything that proves me wrong. Or did I miss the memo that "cause Mr Kuter said so" is sufficient enough

More like 9
Now, check the population of the countries that do have blacks in them against the countries that don't

Indeed, and in light of that, there are certainly more white women in america than black women. MANY more. So though the percentages are skewed in favor ofafrican american women being the most obese, the greater number of women in the country that are, are most likely white women. But before you jump down mythroat, nh, about that. Let me look it up for you.

Nah brotha, there's no malice here. Only intellectual convo. I see what your saying about the total population affecting the percentages

Chuuuch. I feel yall though, a lot of black women in this country probably dont need to hear this. I think the tone in which whoever originally made thestatement could have been better but its NT so I guess he doesnt give a damn. Lets just not let statistics mess us up. Anything can be skewed one way oranother. This very article about pear shaped women may have been skewed one way.

I'll give you that. It was a tad harsh. I kinda felt where dude was coming from though. I'm just so tired of hearing black women shouting"big is beautiful" and seeing "big girls do it better" on their facebook pages. Big girls get diabetes.

it's healthier if you store fat around your hips and $#%, as most women do, than if you store ir primarily in your gut.

this doesn't mean being fat is healthy

So do skinny girls, skinny black girls, skinny white girls, big guys, skinny guys, big black guys, big white guys, skinny black guys, and skinny white guys.Ohh and everything else in-between.

There, I think I covered the spectrum.

I just think you have some personal grudge against big black women; acting as if that particular demographic is responsible for all the reported cases ofdiabetes in the U.S...

What's considered healthy though. That in itself is subjective.

Exactly.

Considering many of you have already taken the liberty of bringing "race" into the discussion, be very much aware of the fact that in this country, all things having to do with the "white" race is what will be deemed the standard, and/or epitome, overtly or covertly. This generally includes the"perfect" female body--which will then correspondingly go on to define what the healthiest female body looks like.

From a global point of view, this is all very subjective--as what Americans consider healthy is not absolute in the global arena--and from a local point ofview, this is all very objective.

There are some white girls that are big.
I just think the larger black women get noticed more by the general public.
A big white chick know she's big, and will just throw on some sweat pants and go shoppin at the plus size store in the mall.

But you will find ALOT of HEAVY HITTER black chicks out sportin the Fraggle Rock weave, Acrylic nails and low rise pants that are 3 sizes too small with thepanty strings fraying at the waist. THIS is what makes alot of people say the types of things that are floating around in this thread.

The Monique/"Big girls can stomp you and you'll like it" mentality has run a muck. But like I said in my previous post, nothing will helpthese sorts of individuals. And no study will alter their frame of mind.

See, this^ is an example of an ignorant statement. What do nails, hair and clothes have to do with what is being discussed?

Cmon son,

From http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowC...and_risk_factors/causes_and_risk_factors.html
Diabetes risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes include:

We can all quote outside sources:

Diabetes is not a newly born disease, it has been with human race from long back but, we came to knew about it in 1552 B.C. Since this period, many of Greek as well French physicians had worked on it and made us aware of the nature of disease, organs responsible for it etc. In 1870s, a French physician had discovered a link between Diabetes and diet intake, and an idea to formulate individual diet plan came into picture.

Diabetic diet was formulated with inclusion of milk, oats and other fiber containing foods in 1900-1915. Function of insulin, its nature, along with its use started from 1920 -1923, discovered by Dr. Banting, Prof. Macleod and Dr .Collip, who were awarded a Noble prize. In the decade of 1940, it has been discovered that different organs like kidney and skin are also affected if diabetes is creeping from a long term. A major turn in this research was in the year 1955, when the oral hypogycemic drugs had been manufactured.

Diabetes was recognized with complete details and its types (Type 1and Type 2 diabetes - that is insulin dependent and non insulin dependent) in the year, 1959. As we know this is one of the old diseases, existing in many individuals and still on rising charts. Hence, scientists are continuously working to relieve us from it, by discovering the relevant drugs and making new researches.

According to W.H.O estimates, by 2025 total 300 million of the worldwide population will be affected by diabetes. For every 21 seconds, someone is diagnosed with diabetes, an estimation given by American Diabetes Association. And, there are 20.8 million diabetics in US at present, which is roughly estimated as 7% of US population, out of this figure about 6.2 millions are unaware of the diabetes existence in there life.

Do you understand what they mean when they say, the "HUMAN RACE"--which is an all inclusive phrase...?

Second don't you find it remotely humorous that the ethnicities (sp) you pulled up account for every population of people, racially speaking, with theexception of "WHITES"...as if to suggest that, they're somehow immaculate and immune to diabetes...

Like I said in my previous post, understand that we live in a very biased society.
Following are the Causes of Diabetes
• Hereditary or Inherited Traits : It is strongly believed that due to some genes which passes from one generation to another, a person can inherit diabetes. It depends upon closeness of blood relationship as mother is diabetic, the risk is 2 to 3%, father is diabetic, the risk is more than the previous case and if both the parents are diabetic, the child has much greater risk for diabetes.
 • Age : Increased age is a factor which gives more possibility than in younger age. This disease may occur at any age, but 80% of cases occur after 50 year, incidences increase with the age factor.
 • Poor Diet (Malnutrition Related Diabetes) : Improper nutrition, low protein and fiber intake, high intake of refined products are the expected reasons for developing diabetes.
 • Obesity and Fat Distribution : Being overweight means increased insulin resistance, that is if body fat is more than 30%, BMI 25+, waist grith 35 inches in women or 40 inches in males.
 • Sedentary Lifestyle : People with sedentary lifestyle are more prone to diabetes, when compared to those who exercise thrice a week, are at low risk of falling prey to diabetes.
 • Stress : Either physical injury or emotional disturbance is frequently blamed as the initial cause of the disease. Any disturbance in Cortiosteroid or ACTH therapy may lead to clinical signs of the disease.
 • Drug Induced: Clozapine (Clozaril), olanzapine (Zyprexa), risperidone (Risperdal), quetiapine (Seroquel) and ziprasidone (Geodon) are known to induce this lethal disease.
 • Infection : Some of the strephylococci is suppose to be responsible factor for infection in pancreas.
 • Sex : Diabetes is commonly seen in elderly especially males but, strongly in women and those females with multiple pregnancy or suffering from (PCOS) Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
 • Hypertension : It had been reported in many studies that there is direct relation between high systolic pressure and diabetes.
 • Serum lipids and lipoproteins : High triglyceride and cholesterol level in the blood is related to high blood sugars, in some cases it has been studied that risk is involved even with low HDL levels in circulating blood.

Welp, I guess none of these affects whites, the only racial population ommited from your "Ethnicity" list, too...

When did I say that it ONLY affected in Overweight black women? But since you wanna be a smart guy:
The relationship of diabetes with race, sex, and obesity
GS Bonham and DB Brock

Noninsulin-dependent diabetes typically has its onset in the adult years, and appears to have both genetic and non-genetic factors in its etiology. Datafrom the 1976 National Health Interview Survey were used to study the independent and interactive relationship of race, sex, obesity, and age with the reportedprevalence of noninsulin-dependent diabetes. The percent of the population reported with this type of diabetes ranged from about 0.5 among Black and Caucasian(white) people of both sexes 20-44 years of age in the least obese group to 20.2 percent among black males 65 years and over in the most obese group.Black people were slightly more likely to report diabetes than white people, especially at the older ages and in the more obese groups.Diabetes generally increased more rapidly with obesity among women than among men. Diabetes was reported more frequently with increasinglevels of obesity, especially at the older age.

and I'm outta here!
