Tariq Nasheed Thread: Updated on Last Page: Racism In Star Wars

Yeah man with the stance he portrays to take yet still using the N word, smdh I can't deal with dude. His hidden colors documentaries are solid but other than that he lowkey is a clown!

How you can travel so much and acquire so much knowledge on black ancient history etc and still use that word is beyond me, straight mind blown!

Sooooo.... He's a clown because of a word?

A word that we all know when used in a certain context, literally has no sting or venom behind it...?

Tariq is hella dope. He's gotten way more political in the last few years. Rightfully so with all the black killings going on right in front of our eyes. Without repercussions. In comparison to when he was lacing cats with game about relationships. Haven't listened in a minute.

Bruh when you reach a certain level of knowledge of not only self but history, there is absolutely no reason to want to use a spin off of a word created to depict how dispicable these folks think of you. Way too many other uplifting accurate words like hmm let's start with King for example. I fell for that for a while too, thinking I was enlightened and knowledgable while still using that word but ultimately it's counterproductive.

I have yet to hear Caucasians go around calling themselves "cooler" versions on C*acker or H*nky etc or any Asians calling themselves J*ps but yall keep letting hip hop tell you otherwise and while you at it let the fact that General Electric is one of the biggest owners/investors of prisons and also hip hop music companies then see who are on the board of GE n get back to me. Bet Tariq would not use that n word around one of them and that's the part that kills me. He is one of those "hey I can say it but you can't!" folks which are the worst.

Good day Kings

Power is the ability to define reality and to have other people respond to your definition as if it were their own.
- Dr. Wade Noble

NGR is an ancient and devine word. I'll leave this here...

^ right and the word white racists gave us is that same meaningful word, right? Lol or that "cool" offshoot n word cool bruthas use is talking about kings huh? Stop it I already know about Nga and neegus but don't try to act like that's what you mean when you call one another that. I bet that's what eminem thinks every time he uses it too [emoji]128527[/emoji] b c if it were the music industry wld hv shut it down a long time ago like they did all the other conscious bruthas.

You seemed to have missed the whole point to my post. The word has existed before Europeans came on the scene. They didn't give us anything, we gave it to them.

It only took on a negative connotation during slavery. By taking on their definition you are giving the oppressor power over you.

At all depends on who says it and the context in which its being said. If you choose not to say it cool, but you shouldn't get so bent out of shape when another black man does. Especially when he's actually using the word in its proper context.

No you missed the point. I got all that and I know where the original word comes from and all the bastardization that took place just like with the swastika.

My point is once the racist europeans flipped the word to demean blacks is when blacks flipped it down the line to make a cooler version of the slur NOT an offshoot of Neegus (king/god) which is what invaders and nomads used to call the Ethiopians out of respect way back when. Most people who say N**ga don't even know all this history.

Please stop reaching. I'm not responding back to nonsense.

When Tariq Nasheed, a man with knowledge of self, takes on the original meaning of the word and uses it, How is this bad? How am I reaching? That is the fact of the matter. We're not talking about some random black person off the street. We're talking about a dude who is actively trying to wake up our people.

He's stated numerous times that when he says it he's using it from the African context. That's what Hidden Colors is all about. Reclaiming OUR history and putting things back in proper context.

Why you giving the oppressor power to keep that word negative? Flip it back on them and use it in its original context. By doing so you are the one with POWER. You are defining the word for yourself. Is it that complicated? Who says things have to stay the same?

I swear you can't please anyone nowadays. They see a brother who is doing all this positive stuff for his people and get bent outta shape over a word our ancestors created. My GOD... LOL

If a racist called you King or Original Man or God or whatever and still treated you like a second class citizen or lesser than a dog, it's not the word that's important. Likewise if a black man called you King or Original Man or God while robbing you, would it make the act less heinous? We get hung up on the least important part of our problems.

If the point is to not see ourselves through the eyes of our oppressors, then it doesn't matter what we call each other as long as the meaning of the words used between us are respectful in the context they're used in. I don't go around calling everyone N but I do use the word sparingly and I listen to hip hop, so it's said when I'm repeating lyrics.

I could be wrong on this one, but I think the word isn't that important. It's like saying the f word. If my girl says she wants to ****, I don't get upset. But if someone calls me a dumb ****, of course I'm gonna take offense. I think context is important.

You just proved my point and highlighted your lack of understanding. A racists is not going to call you a king nor original man then treat you like an animal, smdh that's defeating the purpose because obviously words are important.

Words are definitively important it's called psychology. It's also why they bastardized the word while beating and enslaving us.

Exactly and when you use the n word sparingly while listening to hip hop, you are saying it in the same context as the rappers which is that of foolery not that of black kings.

Call your child a "stupid no good fool" his whole entire life and see how he turns out Since words are not important. Why can't the child say "oh I'm not trippin, I know my dad meant well"? [emoji]128527[/emoji]

When Tariq uses the n word he is using it in the same context as eminem. Don't be fooled. He goes from mackin pros to righteous black man. [emoji]128527[/emoji]

You can't embark on a positive mission with negative thoughts/words. Why do you think positive affirmations are important esp in meditation?

It's not about getting hung up on a word. It's about ascending to such a high level of knowledge and history that you can no longer feed into the ignorance of using that n word because it's like hustling backwards. Once you reach that level you will see and realize it's pointless to keep it going. Now if for some reason you are using the Nga original word that's different but I highly doubt that's what we are discussing.

Point is the mainstream n word that hip hop, tarik, and most people (even whites, Latinos, etc) use today is and has a negative connotation. You can try to keep fooling yourself into believing it doesn't all you want.

If you think words are meaningless then there is no need for this so called discourse.

Parent pays for your school, buys you clothes, takes you on trips but calls you stupid, loser, no good, ugly all the time.

But you not worried about those words [emoji]128527[/emoji]

My point is if I call you "monica" dap you up and hug you when I see you, break bread with you and speak highly of you when you aren't around, am I killing your soul or progress because of the word I call you? Just saying my actions count for more than my words if I mean you no harm by that ONE word.

I can see where you're coming from in not liking the word and if I knew you personally, wouldn't call you by it since it offends you. And the reason I use it sparingly is because it is an offensive word, to some. I personally am not going to lose my cool if someone calls me the word. If that's the best a racists has, then he lost with me.

yeah...

Because my parents calling me as stupid loser and a man saying "*****" are totally the same thing.

Got it

Man, I mess with Tariq but that NEGUS stuff HAS to stop. Not a fan of it, but it won't stop me from appreciating his work
