NT: Sportsbook Thread

Just an FYI since your guys are talking about Air Force under tonight.  I think it was at 118.  There are always exceptions to every rule but for the most part if a spread is under 120 you rarely want the over.  Air Force is ranked as playing the 5th slowest pace in all of College Basketball.  That's 343 of 347.  Let's just say that is really really slow.  Most days when there is a decently large number of games you can look at all the over/unders and simply bet the lowest one under and it will hit way more often than not.  I had an exact percentage but my computer just crashed and I lost most of my spread sheets.

If this topic stays up I'll try and post in it every once in a while.  Been betting on sports damn near my whole life.  Best advice I can give is just bet a small amount of your bankroll at a time and you can make some money.  Starting small also helps you learn the ropes.  Betting on basketball in particular (regular season at least) is a lot more than A vs B.  So much of it has to do with statistics and situations.  I have a friend who knows almost every team and every player in college basketball.  So much so that it boggles my mind.  But he couldn't pick a spread to save his life.

Good luck to everyone in the future.

yea i've always noticed the lowest college ov/un to go under.....but i bet at a local and they don't do college ov/un .....but i watch them any way....thinking about doing the local/online combo starting in august because i feel like i can really profit on 2nd half bets in basketball....and also my local is counting pushes as losses now and thats $++%@@+%....i can't risk 500 on a bet and it push and i lose 550

Yeah, stupid play on my part. I just saw the total, went to ESPN.com and assumed it would be over from the recent games from both sides. Any sites you think I should visit for handicapping, trends, and ATS trends? The only site I really visit often is cappingthegame.com, and so far, it's been good information.
As of now, I bet what I can afford to. I believe that's the best bet, bet small (to your own standards) and play smart games. You won't make a crazy load overnight, but if your doing it right, you'll notice. Also, I suck at the NBA, I believe CBB is where it's at as far as sports betting.

Blackjesus, I used to go through a local as well, but !@++ got boring after he only allowed 2 team parlays, Min $25.00 bets, no basketball ML, no bonuses, etc. Try 5dimes.com, so far it has been good to me. I enjoy betting the halves, but the most profitable situation so far for me has been In-game Live betting during the commercials.

and counting pushes as losses

And where can we go for this pace of play stat? That would be extremely useful.

I'll personally apologize for anybody that took the T'Wolves +7...

We embarrassed ourselves out there tonight.

Here's Wednesday's NBA Lines

The Miami game looks enticing.. +7 seems like good odds for Wade and the Heat.. but damn, the Hawks have been playing good, and the Heat haven't won there in almost 3 years

All I will say is PLEASE don't buy points, unless you're betting $5 to $10 a game, then it doesn't matter and you're kind of doing it for fun anyways (and if you're doing it for profit - please don't buy points, long term it NEVER works or they wouldn't offer it)

Listen to Allen when it comes to College Plays, he's a boss, and I'm having an awful year outside of New England teams...usually I crush the Big East but this year it's been brutal, never would have thought 'Cuse would be this good and they've cost me some major $.

Don't do teasers.

Rarely parlay. The occasional $500 to $3,000 three team parlay is acceptable. But only @ this price IMO. I will be doing one of these in the first round of the NCAA Tournament when there is a full 32 games to choose from. Will be flying out to Vegas for the 1st two rounds, cannot wait.

One play for today,

Georgia Tech ML +105

Leans: Richmond +5.5, UConn +450 Moneyline (value value value), and Charlotte 1st Half +4.5 (can't see them covering if they're down big at half, do expect them to put up a fight in the 1st/lead after Dayton just mopped up Xavier at home, let down spot and Charlotte is sneakily good)
