Official "When did MJ wear those??" post and FAQs!!

Something I thought Id share while waiting for clear pics from that game.......hoopsencyclopedia did a nice bio on that game as he was in attendence. A nice personal touch as he talked about his then-girlfriend who hated basketball but he took her anyway so that he could see the legend live. You can see the full story on his youtube vid of the game here:
"This was my last game seeing MJ play live. The opening photo is from my camera. Here's the story:
I had just started to date a new girlfriend around this time who happened to hate basketball. Thankfully, MJ was in town so I decided to get some quick tickets at $400 apiece so she could say she saw MJ live to her grandkids. I heard standing room tickets at game-time were going for $800 so I felt great paying what I did - especially with my girlfriend complaining about going to a basketball game on the way there.
Now, seeing MJ live as a Wizard was bizarre but when he entered the stadium, as usual, it was as if all the air was sucked out of the room. Everyone stood up, camera lights flashed non-stop and the remembrance of what this man had done in his career as the greatest there ever will be filled the room thick. MJ standing on the court with his hands on his hips felt as if his elbows were touching one side of the stadium to the other. His presence was beyond gripping.
The game started with MJ missing some easy jumpers so he switched to attacking the basket. At age 38 with the bum knee, it was incredible. He gathered more highlight moves in this one game while scoring an efficient 26pts than most players do in an entire season. Of course, playing this way in the Garden was never a surprise.
But the amazing part of the game was what was happening to Sprewell as MJ smothered him mano-a-mano. MJ's mind-body challenge was giving him nerves of jello and Sprewell went a disastrous 0-10 until MJ sat on the bench when he finally made his first bucket. Lucky for Spree, the Knicks were playing well inside and the Wiz had to play catch up the entire time.
With NY up by 10 late in the 4th, MJ turned on his legend and willed his team with his customary, dramatic comeback. By this point, the score was tied and my girlfriend was on the edge of her seat - strictly because the drama of who was going to win overwhelmed her. I said to her, 'Jordan's going to get the last shot and he's going to hit it. That's what he does. I guarantee it.' And when the moment happened, she jumped out of her seat with the rest of the Garden in amazement. She became, enlightened. And although she returned to hating basketball, she would forever tell stories about the one time she saw MJ. This was the essence of what Michael Jordan was to the world."-Hoopsencyclopedia
It's crazy that Camby and Thomas are Knicks AGAIN!

Can anyone shed some light on these 6s from a "Nike Air Jordan Evolution" video showing a slightly altered version with a toebox?

Samples that never went into production. MJ preferred the clean toe so they ended up changing the look before production began.

great post, that is an awesome story from hoopsencyclopedia. crazy how Jordan kept that bum *** squad of the Wizards in the game against Camby, Spre and Houston. Rip wasn't even playing either. You know Spre was tight going against an old Jordan but he was still getting burned and locked up by him.

we need pics of 2001-2003 cause during those years he wore retros and even a pair of jumpmans

don't have the pics but I still remember seeing MJ wearing the following Jordans as a Washington Wizard:

1. AJ XVI+ gingers (Pre-season 2001/2002)
2. AJ III retro true blues PE with copper instead of red (Pre-season 2001/2002 and season 2002/2003)
3. AJ XVII white/college blue-black (most games in 2001/2002 season)
4. AJ XVII Low white/university blue-chrome (a few games in 2001/2002 season)
5. AJ XVII Low white/lightning-black (ASG 2002)
6. AJ XVII Low PE white/varsity royal-copper (remaining games in 2001/2002 season)
7. AJ XVII+ white/black-copper (pre-season and early 2002/2003 season)
8. AJ IX retro cool grey (a few games in 2002/2003 season)
9. AJ XI retro cool grey (in several games in the 2002/2003 season where MJ played usually very well)
10. AJ VII retro white/frenchblue-flint grey (one game in 2002/2003 season, scored only 14 pts)
11. AJ XVIII white/sport blue-silver (most games in 2002/2003 season including final game)
12. AJ XVIII white/varsity red (a few games in 2002/2003 season
13. Jordan Team FBI white/varsity royal (a few games in 2002/2003 season)

MJ was supposed to wear the AJ XVIII black/sport royal silver in the ASG 2003 but only wore them
during photoshoot (with Yao Ming etc.)

Tried my best to find pics of AJ XVII Low PE white/varsity royal-copper and AJ VII retro white/frenchblue-flint grey, but no luck. :frown:

japino im loving what you did! Iono if its just my cmptr but i wish all of your pics came through thg

just peeped this entire thread, alot of classic pics indeed. some i remember from when he came back in 1995. this is like a Air Jordan dictionary with all the rare stuff in here :smokin

Wow, the 80's and 90's are truly two decades that will forever be missed. Thanks for the memories fellas!! :D

THIS is the BEST thread EVER!!!! So Much time and Love put into it that it makes it that much more special!!

Thank You!!

wow, may be the 1st time i've seen him in the white/red 2 low
always the other 3 original 2's, but not this white/red low!

I mean, can anyone else find another pic of MJ with these on?
thought they were like the military blue 4's

nice find

air trainers rivaled air jordans in popularity for a brief period of the late '80s'
they were obiquitous (for those that weren't there)

^shouldn't be too hard, he wore them at the beginning of the 87-88 season before AS weekend when the III debuted

really? the wht/red low?
maybe he wore the aj2 low on the end of year '87 si cover, but can't confirm that they are wht/red lows

years ago, before this thread, i made a weak attempt at collecting all the aj shoe pics i could find
but remember not being able to find one of him in the wht/red 2 low
perhaps game footage but not a quality photo

pics welcome of course

and someone can blow my mind with a pic of mj in miltary blue 4's holding a basketball or in a game
while you're at it
