Yessir, the title's not lying. I was going to be super-low key about it until I heard back on whether or not I got the Job (and the Swoosh accounts that come with it), but I've been lurking here for a couple years now, and I do love the NT fam, so I'm gonna spill it.

I was surfing NikeBiz to see if NikeStore Emeryville was hiring, and ran into this out of the blue:

NEW Nike Factory Store - Part Time Sales Associate San Leandro, CA-046199

Description

Work Hard. Play Hard.

You're a natural leader and motivator and always up for a challenge. Nike is looking for the next Athlete to join our team.

Are you ready?

As our Nike Store Athlete (Store Associate) your mission will be to deliver a premium consumer experience by demonstrating the expertise to navigate through individual needs and providing a complete solution through Nike products and services to give consumers what they need to connect, train, and compete with the knowledge to achieve their goals...

Naturally, that threw me off. So I hit up NikeTown SF and they confirmed it; Nike Factory Store San Leandro is supposed to be open in April.

Anyone else from the East Bay hyped to not be running over to Vacaville or Great Mall all the time anymore?

Anyone else trying to get jobbed at this one? I live in Hayward, so this would be much easier for me than Emeryville would.

P.S. -- Yes I know Nike's starting pay is lightweight iffy, and I'd probably take a L on pay as compared to what I make now, but between the increased hours and Swoosh.com discount, it'll probably work out in my favor.

Can you hook it up with a swoosh account tho?
Lol, good luck man.

I would apply but I'm located in richmond and wouldn't want to travel all the way to san leandro

Clearance store indeed it will be...can look forward to all the good transfers and hot B-grades like the other clearance stores.

Im sure it will be a Clearance Store.

I know my cuzn will be working there .... thats for sure. Another SWOOSH for me.

I cant wait to see what they are going to get. I think they will have some nice  ssshhhhhhhhh itttt

i live close to GM's nike, but hope you get the job. hopefully they get good stuff because GM never gets nothing. maybe you can hook me up with that swoosh....lol

Yeah, even if I don't get the job, I'd be happy just to have a clearance store in the East Bay at last! I'm more than happy to take some B-Grades off their hands, but the job, first dibs on new shipments, and a Swoosh account would -definitely- make my day.

Man, I used to feel honored going to like Gilroy, or Vacaville for pickups.

Where in SL is it gonna be?? I'm happy I don't have to go to Milpitas anymore to hit an outlet.

Nikebiz.com, though I think they might be done with the intake process since I just got a callback today. I got rejected for Lead Store Associate, which is probably good because I couldn't make the hours work anyway. Just a little bit of information from my phoneback:

- Nike Factory Store SL is at Marina Square as stated earlier, next to Nordstrom Rack.

- The Grand Opening is on the 17th of April, though we open on the 1st (not sure if that means we start training, or just open without any sales or w/e going on).

Wish me luck, my group interview is on Thursday!

Nice and yes about time, i completely agree with everyone sating GM doesnt get anything, because they do now. The only shoes I can remember getting from there was the xiii in white/light grey and carolina blue...and that was damn near when they opened.

Good luck man, I got my rejection email yesterday for part-time sales.

sad as hell when jobs paying peanuts these days require that you have all kinda experience.  economy's in the toilet.

Dude, I'm so $#++%*# nervous right now. The moment of truth is tomorrow, and apparently they do group interviews first, and if you don't suck, you do a one-on-one interview where they basically explain what will be expected of you. That essentially means you will leave the interview knowing whether or not you got the job. Suuuuuuper nervous atm, and really hoping I can be articulate and quick-witted, and not a blubbering pile of stress. Also, definitely hoping for some B-Grade Space Jam (Foams, 7s, 6s, etc) love Week 1.

yeah interviews can nerve racking. Make sure to be ready for random ?s, like "whose your favorite athlete besides MJ and why?" etc. goodluck. I'm hoping to get hired there this summer. if you get the job put in a good word for me.

So they told me after they run my background check (which is spotless aside from my bad *!# credit typical of a college student), they will give me a call about doing the new hire paperwork. I'M IN!

First Clearance Store in NorCal, and I'm trying to spend my first paycheck on everything I can get with that big *!# discount.

So we start loading the store on the 1st, and the actual opening is the 17th of April. I'll try to give a heads up on what we get as we get it, provided that isn't frowned upon -too- much.
