Best believe if Omar was German he would of been called up by Klinsmann by now.

I don't blame Omar for wanting to go to the other side after displaying that he already wants to be with the USMNT, but no call up.

He's had an incredible season for the Galaxy and has shut down multiple Forwards this season alone. I don't know of a better defender in the MLS with his size and quickness.

The fact that Klinsmann gives a buncha crappy players a chance, such as Tim Ream, but doesn't call up Omar makes me

i would like to see Gooch and orozco paired up though, imo, the reason orozco might looks so bad is because bocanegra..

I saw the UNDER-23 list and must say, I was happy with most of the players. They guy I did not see on the list was Herzuler? Is dude not good enough?? or did he decide to play for Germany??

Hurzeler is a '93 and likely still a couple of seasons removed from being ready to bang with international U-23s. Most of these guys are '90s/89s and all of them are professionals. To provide a little scope, remember that just this past spring Hurzeler missed U20 qualifying with us because he had highs school final exams while the rest of this group were competing everyday with the best.
When Hurzeler was first exposed to the US the general perception was that he was one of the gems of Bayern's youth system. In the year since most have accepted that he's more along the lines of being just another good prospect at a top club in the world.

He did just make his debut for the Bayern Reserves a month or so back so that's a good sign. He's got plenty of time. The kid will be eligible for both the 2013 U20 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics just like Salgado and Gil.

So many head-scratchers w/ these call ups.

No Sacha? No Gomez? Robbie Rogers???

I'm baffled.

As for the Olympic camp, I'm looking forward to seeing some of these guys play - if they even make the side:

Gale Agbossoumonde (Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany)
Perry Kitchen (D.C.)
Joe Corona (Tijuana, Mexico)
Sebastian Lletget (West Ham, England)
Mixx Diskerud (Stabaek, Norway)
Conor Doyle (Derby, England)
Josh Gatt (Molde, Norway)
Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim, Germany)

Only one of Beckerman or Donovan can possibly be available for the Slovenia game so technically there's still a spot open.

If it's Beckerman I'd expect Agudelo or Gomez and if it's Donovan it very well could be Sacha.

I'm trying to be optimistic about the Omar situation. I don't believe in instant gratification, just because you might deserve to be there doesn't mean it's going to happen that way, and if it doesn't, you need to wait it out for as long as possible. Eventually his quality will work things out in his favor.

Honestly I used to be a complete Jozy hater since he doesn't do @#$% for the US squad, but then I remembered how useless Cristiano Ronaldo is for the Portuguese national team. I hate him with a passion but since I'm half Portuguese, I still want him to perform well for the NT (like he does for RM). Instead I watch him take 40 yard shot attempts that have 0% chance of getting in

Some dudes just don't produce results for their national teams, but it doesn't mean they're trash. And I also forget that Jozy is only 22
eek.gif
He still has 2-3 years to peak before we can make a final criticism

There's light at the end of the tunnel yall. We had a discussion last year about how there are unprecedented numbers of young Americans (U23) overseas, this year we're seeing unprecedented production across the board.

Damn my man Guchi not in there. that groin must be a problem.

not even mad  at this result. another pathetic performance, especially by our defense. Easily could have been 4-0 instead of 1-0

Another tough lost.

Klinsmann is starting to urk me badly with his awful tactical decisions

I rescind my take on Jozy son is putting in work. the team just needs distribute the ball better

Jozy was probably the best US player out there. You could see his effort but received no help. Howard with great saves. Chandler's passing today was
sick.gif

Meh...we still lack skill/creativity. At least the D was decent so it was only 1-0.

I hate when Dempsey's brazilian side comes out smh..

Beckerman actually surprised me, looked much more comfortable on the ball than Edu.

The defense was damn good for the most part. The only bright spot. Limiting France to a small handful of quality chances, most of them well into the second half, when your team can't maintain any possession is good for any squad.

at Dolo covering Ribbery like a blanket.
and Goodson is still playing because he's a quality player. That goal he gave up shows why he's all league in the Danish league but has never made the jump to a top tier rapid paced league like the EPL.  Every facet of his game is solid except for his average speed and average strength.  Against an athletic team like France that's likely to get exposed and it did.

JK is on one right now. Half the midfield is completely miscast every single match. You can't win like that. SMH at this dude choosing to go with 3 pure defensive mids down a goal with twenty minutes to ago. Klinsman really should be technical director, his vision and concepts are great but someone with a bit of tactical know-how needs to be coach.

at least my man Jozy looked good.
on a side note I'm glad the US wore the blue shorts today. I HATE the all white

IMO the defense technically played well but they were getting absolutely overpowered by the French . They were getting abused by Benzema throughout the first half and were incredibly lucky that he and other players like Giroud were unlucky/terrible in front of goal. Our defense is too slow and unathletic to keep up with any good team nowadays. And I agree, the midfield selection is HORRENDOUS along with his formation (4-5-1)
sick.gif
. Michael Bradley might not be a good player but he is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Beckerman

and yea, I admit that Jozy is starting to look good for us. How the French didn't get carded even once for their tackles on him is beyond me
indifferent.gif
Dude had at least 2 chances to go one on one with Hugo Lloris taken away by fouls after he beat the entire French defense. And that should've been a penalty in the first half...
