**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Johannson is a great addition to the pool.  Heard about his excellent finishing ability and touch in tight spaces the last year but after watching some highlight videos one thing I didn't realize was how fast he was with and without the ball, kid can flat out fly.

Oh and R.I.P. to Wondolowski's flirtations with the NT.

@OfficialBWFC Following a scan, club can announce Stuart Holden has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in right knee #BWFC

Stuart, my dude, I hate it had to be him... :frown:

Damn man.

On the bright side I'm reading it's NOT the same knee and a ACL tear isn't what it was just 5 years ago. He could potentially be back to where he was heading into the Gold Cup by March.

How awful. Feel terrible for Stu. One hopes he can summon up that same single-minded determination he used to come back the first time. Sadly, it's unfortunate, but some people just have bad knees.

Nah this dude Stu just has the worse luck in the world. Got jumped by a "fan" and broke his eye socket, got hacked down twice by goons, complications with rehab, freak **** that could have happened to anybody. This is his first "normal" injury.

Not a fan of the move what so ever. He'll be loaned out over the Winter so his form won't dip that much. When it comes down to it, the EPL is a far superior league than MLS and our best player should be playing against the best competition. I'm reading JK isn't a fan of the move either.

:smh:

Let me first say I'm a fan of Deuce. Always have been especially since he's a fellow Texan. I've said this over in the footy thread, but I think we Americans are romanticizing the idea of Deuce. He's 30 years old & American. He wasn't getting looked at by any teams overseas.

Yes he scored 12 goals (or so) in the Prem last season, but AVB cut down his playing time as the season progressed which is saying something because the Spurs experienced a lot of injuries in their midfield & with their forwards/strikers (including injury to Gareth Bale).

Deuce did not distinguish himself the last half of the season (neither did a lot of the other Spurs), which led to the Spurs collapse & not qualifying for the CL. It didn't help that Arsenal went on a nice run late in the season also playing solid futbol.

If anything Deuce could've/should've been able to seize the opportunity with the Spurs late in the season with his ability to play as an attacking mid, winger, or second striker, but nada.

He took the only offer that was out there & it was a good one money wise. Deuce had a nice run overseas & it was time to come home to make some good dough while becoming the face of MLS.

How come we can't just use the retention fund or whatever to keep Omar????

Do the same thing KC did with Zusi and Besler?

Apparently these retention funds can't be used on players in the last year of their deal. I believe that came out last week. The MLS salary rules change as quickly as they can find the White-Out.

Damn   I was just talking to a friend about who we could possibly bring in with the DP..... not resigning a player with that

kinda upsetting, but at least its not Gio Dos Santos

I'd be surprised if Omar gets any interest from any European league. He's looked terrible to not that good in most of the international games he's played in so far. He's out of position a lot of the time & makes terrible decisions. Worse yet, he's looked lazy out their too. I don't see much improvement with his play for the Galaxy in the games I've been able to watch this season.

I think this is the second time I've seen you say this and it's just flat out not true. He had interest from teams throughout the Prem and there was interest from teams competing for CL/Europa league throughout Europe.

It's worth mentioning that Spurs were NOT fixated on selling him. They are/were looking to move a lot of guys and if the right offer for Dempsey didn't come a long they were fine with keeping him.

I promise you the Sounders and MLS did not present the only offer. They presented the best offer and were willing to pay 2-3x as much as anybody else as Dempsey's value to them is not in line with his value on the world market.

I find it hard to believe Clint had literally just one offer on the table.

Also, I am shocked that Omar isn't getting interest from Europeans clubs.
