ARRIOLA, THOMPSON HEADLINE SQUAD FOR USMNT UNDER-20 CAMP IN ARGENTINA

The U.S. Men’s U-20 National Team is set to embark on a 10-day training camp to kick off September, and head coach Tab Ramos has taken the chance to call in slew of familiar faces.

U.S. Soccer announced Friday that Ramos has selected a 19-player roster for a training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that is set to take place from Sept. 1-10.

The roster is headlined by the inclusion of Club Tijuana forward Paul Arriola, as well as San Jose Earthquakes forward Tommy Thompson. Thompson will be among nine training camp participants who also took part in July’s National Training Center Invitational.

The roster will consist of six players who currently play in MLS, including Thompson, New York Red Bulls teammates Santiago Castaño and Matthew Miazga, LA Galaxy forward Bradford Jamieson IV, Philadelphia Union forward Zach Pfeffer and Sporting KC defender Erik Palmer-Brown.

The trip will be highlighted by a Sept 9. clash with the Argentina U-20s, while the team has also scheduled a friendly match on Sept. 4 against the Boca Juniors reserves. There may be one more match added to the schedule in the near future.

Shaq Moore has trained with Valencia CF, Levante UD and Huracán Valencia CF this summer. I would love to see him go to Valencia. And Erik-Palmer Brown go to Juve.
Last I read, was that Ariyibi signed with Chesterfield.
 
Looks like Julian Green is going on loan to Hamburg for a year to get some playing time!!!


Julian Green from the United State’s Men’s National Team and Bayern Munich will be leaving Bayern to join Hamburger SV for a one-year loan deal, as confirmed by his father’s twitter as well as Sven Töllner of Sky Sports earlier today.

Green joined Bayern Munich in 2013 after signing a four-year deal that will see him with the Bundesliga giants until 2017. He made his debut as a substitute in November of 2013 but played for the second team as well, earning 23 appearances and scoring 15 goals with Bayern Munich II. Green also traveled with Bayern this summer to Portland where Bayern lost 2-1 against the MLS All-Star team comprised of the best players in Major League Soccer.

Green had an impressionable World Cup performance where he scored the USMNT’s only goal on his first touch against Belgium in their Round of 16 game where the United States went on to lose 2-1, and has also been included in the USMNT roster for their friendly against the Czech Republic next Wednesday. After his goal in Brazil he became the youngest player, since Lionel Messi in 2006, to score during a World Cup game. He decided to play for the United States despite being a dual citizen and having an opportunity to play for Germany as well, and Green’s father confirmed discussing the loan deal with the United State’s head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

The loan should prove beneficial for both Green and Bayern, as the winger was unlikely to see much playing time with Bayern this season and will improve within the Bundesliga. Green should be able to make an immediate impact with Hamburger SV after a 16th place finish in the Bundesliga and only 51 goals total during the 2013-2014 season and is likely to see a significant increase in playing time.

As long as he gets more PT to develop I'm down for the move. Better than being on the first team and playing 10-20 minutes as a sub every other game.
 
Cameron has removed himself from the upcoming friendlies due to getting injured while playing for Stoke. Hope he gets better.

This paves the way for some younger guy(s) to try & make a name for himself. :smokin

Brad Guzan and Nick Rimando will each play 45 minutes during the game. Klinsmann was quoted as saying he believes Mix is ready to take the next step & that Fabian Johnson will become more of a leader for the team.

He also said he's had contact with Shawn Parker & Devante Parker! :smokin

Also, the U18 MNT won the International Tournament. Great job by Javier Perez & his US side!

Ice! How goes the coaching endeavor?

My son's chomping at the bit to start his season this Saturday & Sunday.

He's been going to the gym about 3-4 times a week to run 20-30 mins on the treadmill in an effort to increase his stamina.

Everything is great over here bro had some big tournaments the past month but can't wait for the Nor Cal season to start on Saturday. Busy time of year with the start of the fall season and State Cup qualifiers going on simultaneously.

How are you and your son liking his new club?
 
The new club is cool. I like it & more importantly my son likes it. Good group of parents too even if they are a little "boughie". Practices & trainings have been going well but you can tell the boys are ready to play games.

We did real well in a tournament in Gettysburg losing in the championship game. Our full squad wasn't available since kids went on the last vacation before school started so we didn't have subs. Our boys got gassed in the last 12-15 mins of the championship game giving up 2 goals.

My son had a goal & 2-3 assists. He was responsible for man marking the other team's best players for every game & did a great job of it too.

Can't wait to see what the USMNT team looks like tomorrow. Just ordered a nice gray Nike hoodie from the US Soccer site to wear during the fall.

Yea I like it a lot. I thought Morales was gonna start with how well he's been playing, hopefully he gets a full 45 minutes in the second half.

I have a feeling Gyau might just show out today.  We're also in for a treat when Rubio Rubin comes on. 

@psk2310  those kits are nice as hell purple/white/black is my favorite color combo.

- corona's play
- how gyau looks out there
- thoughts on orozco..i know literally nothing about him
 
^Orozco is a tad bit of an undersized, but versatile defender as he is capable of playing all along the backline; his typical calling is at CB. He's got pretty good technical skill for a defender and is a tough/high work rate player, which is always appreciated. But IMO he has a little bit of Omar syndrome and has lapses in games. He is also kind of, oddly, old at 28. When Russia comes around he will be competing for the Evans, Parkhurst, Goodson spot that those guys all seemed to miss out on.

I'm just interested in whether or not Green can last an entire 90.... especially on the international stage... Same thing can be said with Jozy, as he hasn't been getting any more than just 10 minute cameos at Sunderland and hasn't played since essentially the last warm up match vs Turkey 

Tim Ream is likely gonna come in and audition at the LB position, not too upset he isn't starting if that is in fact the case but I do look forward to seeing him.

With all the super young guys on the squad, I just want to see how they enter and approach the match. There have been (many) times where we see our regular players crumble and fall back into a shell and park the bus. I hope to see the young guys show some sort of resilience and push.

I wonder how we would of been in the WC if Mix started for Bradley in a game or two. It was a shame he didnt get much PT. I'm glad he's shining right now but Cech did look a bit rusty on that save :lol:

The problem with MIX has been his inconsistency. If he can come to play everyday, he would be starting or at the least first or second sub in. He needs to get it together, because the talent is there. I am glad that finally someone from the generation of JEROME/GYAU/RANKIN finally got to play on the NT. Many years ago, I saw them beat the Brazil under-17 and was like man, cant wait for these guys to make it. Unfortunately injuries derail Rankin's career and who know what happens to Stefan Jerome.
